Press Release: Huge Annual Art Festival Opens in Raglan Shire

RAGLAN SHIRE SIM CLUSTER, May, 2017 -- The Raglan Shire ArtWalk 2017 opens Sunday May 14th, displaying the works of over 150 artists over four sims in an outdoor setting. The show runs from May 15th through June 18th. Artists gridwide converge to exhibit their RL photography and art and SL photography and sculpture in this annual arts festival, hosted by the tiny community of the Raglan Shire sim cluster.

"When I first opened these sims for tinies, I started ArtWalk in 2007, inspired by the ArtWalk of Seattle, Washington," said Zayn Till, Magistrate of Raglan Shire. "We want to give artists a fabulous opportunity to exhibit both RL and SL works. Over the years it has grown into one of the biggest art festivals in SL."

2D art of all kinds is exhibited along the hedgerows in the central area of Raglan Shire sim. SL sculptural works are exhibited among the trees and along the shores of the western half of Heron Forest in Heron Shire sim, in the parks on Morning Shire and Athens Shire sim. TP kiosks to the display locations are throughout the grounds of the festival.

"It is always exciting to see so much talent and art as exhibited by artists of Second Life," said Karmagirl Avro, Artwalk Director, herself one of the exhibiting artists. "Talented artists, both big and small, make May one of my favorite months in Second Life! Nothing better than wandering around the Shires enjoying all the fabulous paintings, sculptures and art!"

Avatars of all shapes and sizes are welcome to visit the show and enjoy wandering these enchanting sims dedicated to tiny avatars.

* * * * *

The Raglan Memorial Service for Shady will be held this Sunday at 12pm Noon SLT at Shady's Athen Shire land with space across the canal at the Sillicube™ for folks to also attend.

There will be a short service at which point we will move to the Heron Shire forest to dedicate a memorial in Shadys name by the Stillpink memorial. After this you are all invited to attend a day and night long afterparty to celebrate Shady's story and legacy, and which will feature live music from Frogg and Jaycatt as well as Keeba plus the cadre of DJs to keep the party going.

We are having this at 12 pm so that all the many, many, many, friends of Shady who have known him in Raglan Shire and Second Life and online in all its many incarnations AND who live over seas can have the opportunity to attend. 12 pm SLT is 9pm in Denmark, 8pm in the UK etc which is already a bit late. Anyone who cannot attend at 12 pm can attend the party and share their stories of Shady.

Look for LM/locations a few days before.

Raglan Shire to Close InWorldz Location

When other grids besides Second Life were opening, some from Second Life gave them a look. Others did more, expanding from the larger virtual world to make a presence there. Among them was the noted Tiny community from Raglan Shire, making it's own sim there. Five years later, it's founder Zayn Till has come to the decision that it's time to close down. So what were the reasons given for the close?

Raglan Shire's Art Show

This month, the Tiny community of Raglan Shire gets more visitors than usual. The reason is their annual art show, which is publicized not just to it's local residents, but to all of Second Life. Both paintings and three-dimensional art are featured in the event lasting most of the month of May. Bixyl Shuftan went to take a look at the exhibits.

Raglan Shire Launches Fundraiser to Bring Tinies' Story to Larger Audience

For some years, Raglan Shire has thrived in Second Life, known for being the most noted community of Tinies. Later on, they made their way to Inworldz. Now, there are plans to tell stories of the place to a much larger audience beyond virtual worlds.

Zayn Till and Wynx Whiplash wrote "Some years back we created the whimsical world of Raglan Shire and the endearing characters called The Tinies who inhabit it. It's been our dream to bring "The Tinies of Raglan Shire" to mass audiences, with animations, music, merchandise and all kinds of fun things! Our team has been working hard at this for two years, all at our own expense, and we believe we have a real winner. We have a LOT of great things created: the characters, the world, their homes, music, stories and scripts. But now we are at a point where we need additional financial help to begin our next phase."

They went ahead and started up a page on Kickstarter, a "Crowdfunder" style website, for their startup "Jazz Paws" , "With engaging proof-of-concept work done in a professional and finished style, along with our other assets, we believe that we can get the attention and generate the interest of those who are in a position to deliver 'The Tinies of Raglan Shire' world and experience to the right audiences for profitable return. We envision TV shows, interactive web, retail and online merchandise, sponsorships, games, apps and more."

The goal set was $8,500 by April 6th. As of the morning of March 8 when this article was written, So far more than half of their fundraising goal has been raised, $4571 US dollars by 57 donators. Donations of at least $5 get a gift of some kind, with donations of at least a thousand having their names, "prominently displayed upon our web sites' Great Hedge Wall of Appreciation."

Wynx Whiplash is the creator of the Wynx tiny avatar brand. Zayn Till is a writer and musician, and one of the people behind Raglin Shire.
