Wildstar's Relay Weekend Pictures

With the Second Life Birthday so soon after the Relay Weekend, that cut into our time to post some pictures. But it looks like someone else has. Wildstar Beaumont posted a number of pictures of the track and the various campsites (link). This includes a number of the Sunbeamer's camp (link).

Black Hills National Cemetary Pictures Near Vietnam Wall

The Heavens Sunset sim is noted for it's virtual replica of the Vietnam Wall. But recently Suta Northman whom runs the area had something else to show me. It was a number of photographs on display, under a roof supported by pillars. At the opening were two plaques. One had the Gettysburg Address. The other had the following:

Angel Flights.

In the end .... They gave all.

Black Hills National Cemetary
Spearfish, South Dakota

*********

This is one of many sacred resting places of Angel Flights throughout the world and for our brothers and sisters over the years.

The pictures were of numerous photographs of the cemetery and the nearby Back Hills. Suta would explain some of his family were intered there. Among them was Major Kenneth C Owens, whom had enlisted as a private, got a commission, and worked his way up to Major. He served in Korea and Vietnam. He would also show photos of the nameplaques of two other relatives, Specialist Leroy Boucher and Sergeant Dean Boucher. Both were also veterans of Korea and Vietnam.

The photos are not far from the Native American Veterans Memorial, which itself is close by the Vietnam Wall.

Raglan Shire Artwalk Opens

One of Second Life's better-known art shows is now up and running: The Raglan Shire Artwalk. It began yesterday, Sunday May 15, and will continue until Sunday June 19.

Raglan Shire's 17th Artwalk will run from May 15th to June 19th, 2022. It is a five week long event that spans five regions with over 100 artists participating from around the world. Everything from RL photos, paintings and drawings, to SL sculptures will be displayed. Artwalk features live music shows as well as regular weekly events. This year’s Artwalk is dedicated to Teal Freenote.

As the announcement in the Destination Guide points out, the art is spread out over five of the Raglan community's sims. There are both examples of 2D art, paintings, screenshots, photography, and 3D art sculptures. Most of the pictures are on hedgerows, or "On a hedge!" as the locals say. There are dozens of artists involved, including the Newser's Marcel Mosswood.

While Raglan has a number of events throughout the year, none gets as much attention, or as many participants from outside the community, as the artwalk. Teal Freenote, whom the artwalk this year is dedicated to, was responsible for it's reaching out to artists outside the community of tinies. She passed away last month.

Opening day started out with more than artwork. There was a live music event with Keeba and the Tiny Maniacs, with the singer herself sporting overalls splattered with paint. The audience included some of the Artwalk's artists.

SL18B Update: Map Names Changed, Newser Officially In As Exhibitor

In our last update about the Second Life Birthday sims, they were back up, but still having their SL17B names.  Checking again after a tip, the "17" was gone, and some water sims at the edges were added.

Yesterday, the Newser was contacted by Linden Lab, informing us that we were once again welcome as an exhibitor. This marks the tenth year we've been doing so. In the Second Life Exhibitor's group, it was stated, "We had 275 applications for 175 spots." So competition for the spots was fierce.

The announcement also stated the sims should be open to exhibitors sometime today, May 24. Unfortunately, one thing they won't be open to is published photographs of the area, even teasers of placeholders and closeups of Linden builds that reveal next to nothing about the whole thing. Which is unfortunate as teasers we've done in the past such as the bathroom with the three sea shells stirred up interest without revealing much of anything.

Announcement: "Headline Apollo by The Beckridge Gallery"

THE BECKRIDGE GALLERY PRESENTS "HEADLINE APOLLO"
A POP UP EXHIBIT BY DIAMOND MARCHANT

An exhibit of front page print journalism by the Fort Worth Star Telegram during the Apollo 11 moon mission

July 15 thru July 28, 2019 at The Beckridge Gallery, Bellesseria, Second Life
Free and open to the public

The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon mission has brought forth numerous books, films, and exhibits that offer different perspectives on this unique human achievement. In this vein, the "Headline Apollo" exhibit presents what the readers of a north Texas newspaper saw over this 10 day period in July, 1969. A newspaper of that era covered this history making mission with great detail and emphasis, but simultaneously reported on other issues of the day, such as Vietnam, Chappaquiddick, Luna 15, Nixon, hospital taxes, local crime, and baby names.

The exhibit also includes NASA archival photos of the mission, magazine covers, and a tip of the hat to the first visit to the moon by humans, Apollo 8.

The newspapers presented in "Headline Apollo" (except for July 21 morning) were collected and archived in 1969 by a young diamond Marchant and photographed in 2019.

Press Release: Huge Annual Art Festival Opens in Raglan Shire

RAGLAN SHIRE SIM CLUSTER, May, 2017 -- The Raglan Shire ArtWalk 2017 opens Sunday May 14th, displaying the works of over 150 artists over four sims in an outdoor setting. The show runs from May 15th through June 18th. Artists gridwide converge to exhibit their RL photography and art and SL photography and sculpture in this annual arts festival, hosted by the tiny community of the Raglan Shire sim cluster.

"When I first opened these sims for tinies, I started ArtWalk in 2007, inspired by the ArtWalk of Seattle, Washington," said Zayn Till, Magistrate of Raglan Shire. "We want to give artists a fabulous opportunity to exhibit both RL and SL works. Over the years it has grown into one of the biggest art festivals in SL."

2D art of all kinds is exhibited along the hedgerows in the central area of Raglan Shire sim. SL sculptural works are exhibited among the trees and along the shores of the western half of Heron Forest in Heron Shire sim, in the parks on Morning Shire and Athens Shire sim. TP kiosks to the display locations are throughout the grounds of the festival.

"It is always exciting to see so much talent and art as exhibited by artists of Second Life," said Karmagirl Avro, Artwalk Director, herself one of the exhibiting artists. "Talented artists, both big and small, make May one of my favorite months in Second Life! Nothing better than wandering around the Shires enjoying all the fabulous paintings, sculptures and art!"

Avatars of all shapes and sizes are welcome to visit the show and enjoy wandering these enchanting sims dedicated to tiny avatars.

For more information, contact Karmagirl Avro, Kayak Kuu or Trebek Raymaker.

Registration for Raglan Shire Artwork Now Open

Raglan Shire is noted as the location of Second Life's best known communitiy of "Tinies," not to mention the over-the-top antics of it's residents. It has yearly events every month, it's tenth anniversary being last month. But one event attracts many residents from across the Grid: the Raglan Shire Artwalk. This year, the Artwalk runs from May 14 to June 18, and the registration for interested artists has now opened.

Residents of Second Life may show their artwork during this time.  Reproductions of RL artwork (painting, drawing, digital fine art, printmaking that can be imported and put on a prim) are encouraged, along with SL photography, manipulated photography and sculpture. ... Each year we have had over 100 artist participants exhibiting in spaces over several sims. This year, the 12th ArtWalk, we hope for a good turnout and will include space in the newly renovated Raglan Shire, in Heron Shire forest, and in other sims in the cluster if needed. The 2D artwork will be displayed along hedgerows around Raglan Shire, and sculpture in designated areas of the forest on Heron Shire.

Entries opened on Saturday, April 22, and artists and photographers have until May 7 at 9PM until registrations are closed. Those whom resistered in time will be notified of their setup locations starting on Tuesday May 9. Setting up the art runs from 9AM on Friday May 12 and all day Saturday May 13. The Takedown is from one minute after 6PM on June 18 to Tuesday June 20.

Fundraiser at Happy Vixen Nets over 110,000 Lindens, "Personal Pin up Benefit Auction" Announced

It's been a trying time for RECoyote Mines, one of the members of theSunweaver/Angels community. In the past, he had helped a few of it's members get new computers, as well as helping the land owners lower their tiers to Linden Lab by paying the fees. But recently he announced his mother was very ill with cancer, and had exhausted his savings. So Nydia Tungsten began organizing a couple fundraising efforts at the Happy Vixen beach club. On Tuesday January 31 was a special double event in which those attending dropped over 20,000 Linden dollars into a special tip jar. Also started at the Happy Vixen was a "Tail Sale," in which people stopping by could bid on two dozen volunteers for a date, or some other special service such as building, drawing, or writing.

Thursday February 9 was the last day of the Tail Sale, and during the two events scheduled that evening, people dropped by not just to dance but make the final bids. People continued to remain after the scheduled events were over, and each of the boards was closed at a random time over the next few hours. The results were impressive. A total of over 87,000 Lindens had been raised in the Tail Sale, with four women getting bids of 10,000 or above: Ranchan Weidman, Alleara Snoodle, Brandi Streusel, and Matoazma Kazyanenko. Four more would get bids of 5000 Lindens or more: Nydia Tungsten, Dusk Griswold, Jasmine Dawn, and Mystic Xurina. Combined with the contents of the tip jar, which had gone up to close to 23,000 Lindens, plus the sales of the outfits made by Brandi for the purposes of raising funds for the event, and a few other donations, the result was 112,543 Linden dollars, or about $420 USD.

I want to thank you all for your help in helping raise money for our dear friend Reco, and with this first event alone we have raised $112,5111 L's total  THANK YOU ALL

But Nydia and the Happy Vixen club aren't done yet. Sadly, RECoyote's mother had passed away, which means funeral expenses. So she began organizing a "Personal Pin up Benefit Auction." While similar to the calendar auctions Nydia has held in the past, these would be for personal photographs of the volunteers and winning bidders. At most, these pictures can only be tasteful nudes with nothing more than a hug or cuddle.

Yes we just had one, but funerals are so very expensive, our friend Reco  still needs us, so we are having one last event, come bid on these models for the chance to have your own personal sensual photo shoot that goes no where but to YOU! so this is a one of a kind photo for your own collection.

If you didn't win in the first auction your chances are better now.

Several people have volunteered for this second auction, some from the first one such as Nydia, Brandi, Matoazma (pictured), and Mystic, and a few whom weren't in the first. So if you're interested in a picture with one of the models, head over and made a bid.
