Pookymedia Developing "Mambo Motel: The Metaverse Musical"

Some readers will remember Pookymedia for it's work on the "Time Travellers" movie and the "Fluffee on a Meshion" videos made in Second Life, as well as "The 1st Question" game show. They've continued to do some work over the years. Recently, they released the trailer for their latest project: "Manbo Motel."

"Mambo Motel is the story of a Prince who wishes to escape the intense scrutiny of the media and longs to find a place where he can just be... himself. He discovers anonymity in Mambo Motel, a Metaverse where all log in equally.

"But like the Prince, no one behind the screen is who they seem to be. Exchanging physical reality for a virtual one, he wins and fails at both fortune and love, finding himself ultimately by losing himself in this new world. The theme of the story is that while you have a human skin of chance, as an avatar you can express who you really are in your avatar skin of choice.

"Experience the world's first Musical set in the Metaverse and see what happens in our new world where anyone can be anything they want to be! Actors perform in front of digitally produced sets which take us right into the virtual environment of Mambo Motel.

"Those onstage are living their virtual lives unlimited by their physical boundaries, and only we the audience see who the people really are behind the Mambo Motel guests on smaller LED screens to the far right and left of the stage. The Show Experience features an amazingly tuneful 16 original song soundtrack reflecting life online in the 21st Century."

Addition: Pooky Amsterdam would have more to say on the Pookymedia blog.

Linden Home Camping Area Appears in Bellisseria

Remember the Linden Home campers that were up on display at the Second Life Birthday this year? Well, some were finally made available for people to claim. A number of sims have been added to southern Bellisseria. But these are different than areas made earlier.

Some of the trailers looked unclaimed or ready to be moved into, either they actually were unclaimed (rare for a Linden Home), or someone did and hadn't moved in yet.

Others had signs that they were claimed. And there were a variety of camping homes available. There was even an electrical outlet pole next to each.

The scenery of the park area was well-detailed too, with dirt roads and railroads.  Of the latter, I found rail bridges, as well as railroad car rezz stations, water towers, and signal lights.

There were streams in some sims. In others, rivers. One sim had a large lake area. The Linden Moles are still at work in developing the new continent. And this new area is definitely worth a look, even if you have no intention of getting a Linden Home.

Reader Submitted: Trailer Trashed

While at one of Montecito Bay's parties, Lem Aiko (LemonPledge Resident) handed this picture to me, "Bajo wrecked my car into the roof of my trailer and it caught fire!"

DrRedRedWine Resident, who was nearby and knew what was going on, remarked, "He's remodeling Lem's trailer!"

Hopefully Montecito Bay's insurance company pulled through on the replacement.

New Second Life Official Trailer for 2012

A new official trailer for Second Life by Linden Lab, uploaded on Youtube last week.

Second Life is an online 3D virtual world imagined and designed by you. From the moment you enter Second Life, you'll discover a universe brimming with people and possibilities.

Create and customize your own digital 3D persona, also known as your avatar. Be a fashion diva, a business-savvy entrepreneur, or a robot or all three. Changing identities is quick and easy, so if you tire of your avatars outfit or body, shop for a new one in Second Life or from your web browser. Then switch it in seconds.

Every minute, Residents assemble buildings, design new fashion lines and launch clubs and businesses. Theres always more to see and do.

Compared to some earlier ones, there's more detail in the graphics and more gaming, such as the zombie combat.

Mists of Pandaria Cinematic Trailer "Why Do We Fight?"

"This is the official cinematic trailer for World of Warcraft's fourth expansion set, Mists of Pandaria, originally debuted at gamescom 2012 on August 16 in Cologne, Germany." Showing an Orc and a human shipwreck on the Pandaren island, it's notable that encountering a monk they drop their differences in seconds and fight it together, or rather try to.

"Whether you’re Horde or Alliance, there is one question we all must consider: “Why do we fight?”"

Blizzard also announced that when their 5.0.4 patch is released, all playable races will be available to all players of World of Warcraft, even those with just the free version. The Pandaren, however, will have to wait until September 25 when "Mists of Pandara" is released.
