Animal Crossing Sim of Retroville

Many readers are likely familiar with "Animal Crossing," an open-ended game by Nintendo that's gotten several sequels over the years. Recently the Newser found out about a place in Second Life that's modeled off it: Retroville. So how did Retroville come about and what can one do there?

Game Review: Conan Exiles

One of the newer survival games out there that's been getting a little chatter is "Conan Exiles." Many are probably familiar with the title character from the 1982 movie. But there's been a number of games about him and his stories, including an MMO from several years ago. The survival game is a bit glitchy, more than a little buggy, and deals with a subject some will have a problem with: slavery.

Latest Misadventures in Ark Survival Evolved

It's been a while since I've last written about "Ark Survival Evolved" as my friends who were playing it moved on to other frontiers. But they recently returned, and have found there have been many changes over time, and a few that just happened. These changes include some new dangers, including new deadly beasts. But with the dangers come new opportunities. And the Ark veterans along with some players new to the island are once again taking on the dinosaurs.

SL Universe in Ark

When it comes to games and Second Lifers, there's no shortage of them inworld, as "Tiny Empires" demonstrates. Outside of the grid, "Ark Survival Evolved" continues to be the favorite among the "Furry Gamers," the group of Second Life residents whom love playing games. But as it turns out, they haven't been the only ones in the Ark game lately. Another group of Second Lifers has given it a try: the Second Life Universe Forums.

Further Adventures in Ark Survival Evolved

It's been about a month since the Newser did a review on "Ark: Survival Evolved," the survival game on an island filled with dinosaurs. Since then, Bixyl Shuftan and some of his friends have continued playing the game, in both public and private servers. Here, he writes about some of the adventures, and misadventures, he and his fellow survivors have gone through, as well as a few more helpful hints and observations about the game.

Game Review: Ark - Survival Evolved

With "Jurrasic World" in the theaters in recent weeks, it's no real surprise a dinosaur game would be released to the public around this time. And on Steam, the latest wilderness survival game available, "Ark: Survival Evolved," takes place on an island full of dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts. While some are strict plant eaters, and a few are completely harmless to even the clumsiest players, anyone who knows anything about dinos realizes any encounter with a meat eater bigger than you can end very badly. So does this game offer a T-Rex sized bite, or is it as dead as a dodo?

Tales from Minecraft: Going "To The Moon" Tinkering With Iguanas

So what have the "Furry Gamers" group of the Sunweaver/Angels been up to when not in Second Life? Lately they've been spending some time in a new version of FTB Minecraft called "Resonant Rise," with mods "Tinkerer's Construct with Iguana Tweaks." The result has been a new kind of Minecraft mayhem, with new kinds of terrain to explore, more and extra powerful monsters to fight, and new ways to build tools. And for Jasmine, it meant her own space program in a quest to go to Minecraft's Moon.

Game Review: Archeage

For her latest game review Nydia Tungsten has been playing the multiplayer online game "Archeage." As a Fantasy MMO, one might ask what distinguishes this from the crowd? There were several details that got her attention, a feline race with details like digigrade feet, the ability farm goods needed for quests and crafting, and a "labor point" system unique from any other game of it's kind. So what are the down sides of this (mostly) free to play online game and do the good points more than make up for them?

Game Review: Seven Days to Die

Nydia Tungsten's back with another game review. Today, she takes a look at "7 Days to Die." In this game, players are up against huge numbers of zombies, and starting out with nothing but a little food and water, they must scavenge what they can to fight back. So did Nydia like it, or was the zombie MMO  brain dead?

Ninja Combat System Developer Working on “First True Second Life MMO System”

How would you like to be part of a community of ninjas? You could run combat missions, or if you feel you’re better at building things for your teammates than fighting you can do that too. Bioblaze Payne’s upcoming NCS2 promises to offer some crafting features one would find only in a Massive Online Multiplayer outside Second Life. His new Iwagakure Village also offers much as a new roleplay setting.
