More News Later

Yours truly has been busy, and wasn't able to finish writing something before real-life or the need for sleep took over (or maybe was busy to the point he couldn't start).

We'll have something up soon once we have a chance to pick up our pens and finish.

More News Later

I'd hoped to have something more finished by now, but have been a bit occupied in Second Life and real life  Don't worry, something should be up tomorrow. For now, here's a scenic picture.

More Relay News Later

It's been a great Relay Weekend. But yours truly hasn't finished resting up. After some more time to snooze, I'll pick up my pen.

Stay tuned,

More News Later

There were some technical difficulties with my computer. While they were resolved, there wasn't enough time to write much. I'll try to have some more news up later.

Daylight Davings Time Takes Effect For US And Canada (Mostly)

It's the second Sunday of March. And if you don't know, Daylight Savings Time takes effect for most of the US and Canada. That means last night at 2AM clocks went forward an hour. For most of us, that meant losing an hour of sleep or getting up an hour later. For some, it meant ending up an hour later at events.

But this wasn't the case for everyone. Arizona and some US counties, as well as parts of Canada, do not observe Daylight Savings Time. While most of Europe has it, it doesn't take effect until the last Sunday of March. For countries south of the Equator, it's the opposite. Parts of Australia and New Zeeland will be getting *off* DST in April.

But don't grumble too much. In October, Daylight Savings Time ends, so we'll get the hour of sleep back.

Return of Last Names "Later in 2019" According to Ebbe Linden

Recently Hamlet Au interviewed Ebbe Altberg / Ebbe Linden. Linden Lab's CEO had a number of things to say (which I hope to write about more in depth later this week). On the issue of last names for accounts, which at a Town Hall meeting the Lindens stated would probably arrive sometime in Spring 2019, Altberg stated a different date.

There are some more back-end changes to SL which need to be made before Last Names can make a return (actually, it's really name changes that are the hard part), but we are working on it and hope to have it ready later in 2019.

So it seems once again, the date for last names has been pushed back, this time possibly to December.

A Big Valentines Day

There was a lot to see for yours truly yesterday for Valentines Day in Second Life. There was the "Hug a Linden/Dunk a Linden" at the Isle of View. There was the One Billion Rising event. And in the Sunweaver/Angel community where the Newser office makes it's home, Club Zero Gravity and the Happy Vixen Beach club held hours of parties. We'll have some more pictures for you later. In the meantime, enjoy your Valentines Day presents (or have fun at the RFL Kickoff).

A Busy Weekend

It's been a busy weekend, with time spent writing about the latest Linden fiasco and last weekend's Relay event, there was just enough time to cover the Steelhead St Helens Party, the Bay City Parade and a little bit of the "Halfway There Fair." If you're in a hurry to read up on Bay City, Daniel Voyager wrote about it. But right now for this pooped Fox Reporter, it's time for rest. More on these events later this week, plus an interview with Pooky Amsterdam.

News Brief: Linden Lab Updates ToS, Worries Residents

On Tuesday, Linden Lab updated their Terms of Service. Normally, it's just some small details. But the latest change could mean the end for some Second Life businesses, and some residents outside the United States could be unable to purchase Linden dollars.

Stay tuned for more information.
