Arcadia Asylum Haunted House in HV Community

The Arcadia Asylum freebie place in HV Community by Prof. Grey (BrianL61 Landar) has been setting up some fun builds across the street. In July, they had a theme park with rides. With October and Halloween not far away, they have a haunted house and graveyard.

The place offers some spooky fun with a creepy fog going over the graves and headstones. There are numerous skeletons around in comical positions. Some playing games, some having to deal with problems. There's also a vehicle on the road, so watch out for the (un)dead driver. The thrills and chills aren't just on the outside. On the inside are a few spooks and other characters for more scary fun.

Arcadia Asylum Amusement Park

Although the carnival in the SL17B sims is gone, another place with some fun rides has sprung up. Just across the road from the Arcadia Asylum freebie place in HV Community was an amusement part, set up by the freebie store owner Prof Grey (BrianL61 Resident).

There's a number of attractions there. The "Ferret Wheel" will have your avatar running a wheel like a hamster. The Sidewinder will leave you spinning around until you're dizzy. The Mad Drop will take your avatar over a hundred meters into the air before letting you plunge. And there are other rides you can have fun on.

The park is up "for a limited time," so head over and enjoy while you can.

Arcadia Asylum Living Library

Longtime readers will likely remember Yadni’s Junkyard, which for over a decade was a place for newcomers and even established residents to get free stuff, and Arcadia Asylum, whom made a number of items for residents to get for free. You can find the works of Yadni, Arcadia, and others at the Arcadia Asylum Living Library. Made by Prof. Grey (BrianL61 Landar), it is his aim to "preserve the works of SL's Great Creators and Collectors" for residents to continue to be able to get and use them. Gemma Cleanslate dropped by the place to have a look around.

Arcadia Asylum

In her last article, Becky Shamen brought up the Arcadia Asylum freebie area. Feeling the place deserved an article of it's own, she wrote about the locations she found there, in addition some of the rides, including one straight out of a Jules Verne / H. G. Wells novel. So what did she have to say?

Arcadia Asylum

The Arcadia Asylum gets no shortage of attention, and some time ago Second Life Newser took a look at the place. Recently, Theonlyjohnny Resident took a look at the store to see if it was still as good as before, and did not walk away disappointed.

Dr Fran had a long chat with her, in which she described her first days in Second Life's early times, and answers a few other questions.

Celebration at the Arcadia Asylum

Last year Gemma Cleanslate reported on the efforts of residents to preserve the library of freebie vendors from Aley, whom was also known as Arcadia Asylum. This weekend, the Arcadia Asylum Living Library and Freebie Center held a party to celebrate being in operation for a year. And Gemma was there to get the story.

The Greyhaven and Pala Sims

Gemma Cleanslate recently wrote about two sims she found a joy to visit: Greyhaven and Pala. Built for fun with some effort to keep down the lag, they offer fun with fishing, target shooting, and other things. Or you could just explore around that nook and cranny you haven't been at yet.

Arcadia Asylum Library

Earlier this summer, Gemma Cleanslate wrote about the Library of Arcadia. Recently, she heard that the library was due to be closed, but the contents were being set up at new locations. On a tip, she went to one place to have a look for herself to see how Arcadia's works were doing.

The Sea of Aley

Gemma Cleanslate has been visiting the Linden Endowment of the Arts exhibits, and made a great find. Coming across an artist named Aley, she found someone behind a number of fine aquatic-themed builds and exhibits. Some of her creations can be picked of for free for those willing to hunt for them.
