Second Life Destinations: Fantasy Faire Literary Festival

This week's "Second Life Destinations" by Linden Lab is part of the big event going on in Second Life at the moment, the Fantasy Faire Literary Festival. It included a picturesque video.

RFL Fantasy Faire Opens

The Fantasy Faire sims are now open. Fifteen regions of various well-designed landscapes. Although many of the places are essentially shops, the sims are designed so beautifully, the event is a must-see for any resident.

The event describes itself as "The largest fantasy-related event to take place in Second Life, Fantasy Faire brings together fantasy enthusiasts, creators, performers and designers for eleven days of commerce, special events, live music concerts with special emphasis on fund-raising for Relay for Life of Second Life."

Some of the places are more-or-less what one would expect at a Fantasy event, aside from much more detailed. Others are a bit darker, from the dark circus at Anansi, to the post-apocalyptic
San Mora, to the Orcish stronghold of Chaddul Ro. There is a great deal to see.

For a list of the events, check out the calendar. Among those today the "Lindens Locked Up" Jail and Bail from 2-4 PM at Egregore (181/178/41) , At Opal Flight (214/59/41) are the following:

11AM – 12PM: The Night Theater
1 – 2 PM: Lady Garden Cabaret
3 – 4 PM: The Monarchs
5 – 6 PM: Misfit Dance & Performance Art

There is also the Literary Festival, the Fairelands Quest, and various roleplay classes and events.

Press Release: Announcing Windlight Magazine’s New Literary Journal, The Quill and Pen

Windlight Magazine is continuing it’s commitment to the arts and is pleased to announce the formation of The Windlight Quill and Pen Literary Journal. The Windlight Quill and Pen aims to highlight the voices of gifted and innovative writers in both real life and Second Life.

The first edition of The Windlight Quill and Pen will be released on June 15, 2016 and the second will be released on December 15, 2016. The publication will be released on the Windlight Magazine website and will be published in ebook format, so that all participants will have the chance to become published.

Categories in the journal include nonfiction, poetry, and fiction. Mini shorts also known as flash stories can also be submitted. The ALA Literary Agency announces a competition awarded with 10,000 Lindens for a best poetic celebration of at least one of the "Seven Wonders of the World."

Open entry - winner will be chosen by professional writers and editors.

Deadline for submissions: June 27th 2010 (send notecards to Cath Munro). Please title the notecard "Poetry Contest - YOUR NAME"

Winners will be announced at an event on June 30th @ 3pm SLT, where authors will be asked to come read or have someone read their poetry at the Literary and Artists Village
