Kimberley Alice (Kim) of Kim's Kreations Has Died

 

Last week, it was announced that Kim (kimberleyalice1961 Resident), the woman behind the Kim's Kreations store, had passed away. The news was announced on Monday June 10.

Kim (sweet and generous Kim) has passed away due to cancer. From her husband: "I am so sorry to confirm what many of you have learned today.  Last night one of the most beautiful people on the planet left us forever. I lost my best friend ever.  I wish there was something i could do to fix the hurt and heartache we all feel." 

Bellisseria chat had a number of people expressing their condolences, "She was a beautiful person." "I wish I could help her surviving hubby." "So many beauitiful things in her shop, she helped me many times, more than I can remember." "May Kim rest in peace." "Such a great person. Cancer is so unfair."

As stated, Kim's store is still up, at Mieville Kipling (32/136/26).

Weekend in Brief

 

 

 Quite a bit happened this weekend. On Friday December 15, the Linden Snowball Fight took place. It would also be the closing day of the Team Diabetes Winter Showcase. There were other events, such as the Riny Carolers at Mieville on Saturday December 16, and the "Christmas at Wild Castle" party on Sunday December 17.

We'll have more on some of these stories, and more, when time's available to report in detail.

Mieville's Frendsgiving

 

 Last week on Wednesday November 15, the Mieville community had a Thanksgiving-themed event: Frendsgiving. "We will have plenty of food, good conversation, board games, and even a few picnic blankets in case anyone needs to lie down and take a nap. AND you may certainly drop by both sessions, or even stay all day long! All are welcome - hope to see you there!"

 

Friendsgiving evening dinner is under way.   Come on over for social hour and Thanksgiving dinner, hosted by Farzaneh.   Mieville Twain (103,193,752)

 

The event took place twice that day, at Noon for European residents, and at 9PM for American ones. According to the community blog, it started in 2018 with the blessing of founder Perryn Peterson. In the short time I was there, there was no shortage of conversation and (virtual) food. And yes that included the turkey.

Mieville Celebrates 15 Years

 

 

On Saturday July 8, there was a party in the Mieville community to celebrate a milestone, it's fifteenth anniversary. 

Time to party! Theme: Celebrating Mieville! Let's continue to kick off Mieville's 15th Anniversary in style with great music and party fun! DJ Anna LOCATION: Mieville Doyle dance floor Mieville Doyle (71,42,24) 

 

The event was held from 6-8 PM. There was a little joking around while I was there via an alt, including looking back at the community's founder, "Perryn would be proud." This would not be the only event to celebrate the community's anniversary.  There were also three anniversary market areas set up.

Mieville made the news last year when it's founder Perryn Peterson vanished and was presumed dead. This left the fate of the community uncertain until Linden Lab stepped in earlier this year and offered a rescue plan for the sims.

Update on Mieville

 

 

 On Monday night, February 6, there was an announcement in the Mieville community group about the future of their sims. The statement came from Annakari Dragonsworn (Annakari Genesis).

 

We now know that the regions must be transferred to new owners. Linden Labs has provided us a number of benefits to enable us to save our Mieville community regions.

IN addition to that there are a number of things that everyone must understand. The benefits afforded to us for the Mieville Regions are FOR the Mieville regions. Please do not ask to purchase regions and move them elsewhere, this request will be denied. Linden Lab's generosity is intended to preserve the regions as part of the Mieville community.

Regions that are still in need of sponsors and or purchase:

Mieville Docks
Mieville Lakes
Mieville Poe
Mieville Chesterton
Mieville Dickens
and
Mieville Kipling

Mieville regions in need of sponsors, on the condition that they continue as is with no changes:

From Madori Linden:

We will be able to have regions moved free to keep the remaining regions together after all the transfers are complete (we will do the process of allowing neighbors). Downgrading to a homestead will be free of charge. There will NOT be any transfer fees.

Talking to Annakari, she told me things are okay for the moment, and scheduled events are on course to go on, but, "Regions without potential owners could disappear as early as later this month." The most vulnerable were "the homesteads of the Mieville Docks, and Mieville Lakes, the full regions of Mieville Poe and Mieville Chesterton. ... We are hoping to have some regions protected by the SL Historical Preservation team, but we are still waiting on that information. Three of us will pick up regions, on the bases that we can get sponsors to help support them, those three regions will disappear too if we are unable to fund them."

Annakari went on to say, "We will be approving or denying region owners, because these are to be purchased with the intent to remain a part of the Mieville community, with similar themes to the other regions... not for greedy landlords to snatch up and take somewhere. If the regions are not part of Mieville, the deal with Madori will not apply either."

So if you're looking to help out a long-lasting Steampunk-themed community, now's your chance. Once again, inquiries need to be sent to Annakari Dragonsworn (Annakari Genesis).

Press Release: Morte Gras at Flox Sim

 

 

"MORTE GRAS" is a sort of dark "Mardi Gras," which is a huge celebration at New Orleans (in RL).  The one at Haunted Nawlins (in SL) is grand, fun, wild... and interspersed with Dark Humor, Magick, and the (un)Dead.

Morte Gras spins a celebration of life and death, parties and wakes.  Rather than being morbid or sad, it offers instead a grand festival--a throbbing, fierce juxtaposition of paint and glitter splashed across shadow!

Morte Gras is both a sim-size Festival and a grid-wide Hunt.  Both start at the center of FLOX sim.  For the Hunt, visitors seek out a particular set of beads nearby.  Once they find those, they can hop to the next location in another sim.

In contrast, the Morte Gras Festival takes place throughout FLOX sim, in the Haunted Nawlins build.  Haunted Nawlins is a depiction of New Orleans from the early 1900s.  It shimmers with local color and fun.  There are decrepit and beautiful buildings in the Garden District, lovely haunted shops in the French Quarter, a Rougarou beast in the Bayou, a Voodoo Queen in the shadows, and a feast of Cajun food and music for all to enjoy!

Update on Mieville

 

Yesterday in the Mieville group posts, I noticed one "Regarding Mieville Rentals in Mieville Regions," in which "The rental situation is being resolved in a new way," I noticed the following sentence, "Linden Labs is in direct contact with us." Noticing that Wyv the FloxMonster™ (Wyvern Dryke), I asked if they were stepping in to help. Wyyvie wasn't sure as the talks were still ongoing. Annakari Dragonsworn (Annakari Genesis) did say, "Yes we are working closely with them to organize a plan for in case Perryn is unable to return to us. We are also gathering any information for possible transfers and have been guaranteed ample time to remove items from regions if there is no one able to have them transferred.  However, at this time, there is no reason to do anything except to plan."

Wyvie has gotten his own sim, Flox, where "Haunted Nawlins" can be found, and was told others in the community either have or are planning to get more sims. Exactly what will happen to the community lands is still up in the air. But it's fair to say they'll continue to have a place, or places, to call home.

At a Mieville Meeting

 

 

 Not long ago, I attended one of Mieville's community meetings via my alt Rezzdarnit. Despite the uncertainty of the fate of the community estate following the disappearance of it's founder Perryn Peterson, life for the "Mievies" goes on. At the meeting, the people seemed not to dwell on their land possibly having a time limit, and instead talked about the Thanksgiving Market, and a few other topics, including some lighthearted talk. 

As for Perryn, he wasn't forgotten. Someone set up a flat image of him onto one of the chairs: a reminder he was still close to their hearts. And with Thanksgiving coming up, no doubt the people of Mieville are thankful they still have their community land.

Mieville Leader Perryn Peterson Missing, Presumed Gone

 

 

In a sad development for the Mieville community, it's leader and mayor, Perryn Peterson, has been declared missing and presumed dead. In a group bulletin last night, assistant mayor Wyvvy (Wyvern Dryke) had this to say:

I know many of you are still hoping Perryn returns, and to you I say, don't give up hope.

As for me, I have resigned myself to the fact that he is (almost certainly) not coming back.  The Tinies offered me a little, temporary Memorial spot for Dia de los Muertos, so I built Perryn a bitty memorial.

Please come see it, remember Perryn... smile... wish for his return or say goodbye.  Or both!

In the group chatter that followed, it was noted, "He's not even listed in the Mieville group," and "He's not in the search however." "I think we should assume the worst." Wyvvy, when asked how long Perryn was gone, told, "He went to the hospital in mid-March. (then) only logged in maybe five times, for a few minutes. Then disappeared completely June 16. ... We just kept on keepin' on."

This hasn't been the first time Perryn has vanished. In February 2020, his not having logged on since going to the hospital in December 2021 was causing some worry as there was the threat of the Mieville community sims closing due to lack of payment. But he soon returned. Afterwards, measures were put into place so the sims wouldn't be in danger if there was another time he couldn't log on. It would seem that time has arrived.

The annual Mieville/Historical Hunts Renaissance-themed Grid-Wide hunt and Faire which starts SOON:   **September 3-25, 2022.  Gifts are free, and help is friendly and timely! This year's theme is: "Monsters, Myth & Magic - A Bestiary for the Ages"

As you all no doubt seen, we lost our friend and DJ, Kt.   As the time we saw him most, was during the Sat. Ktahdn Vesuvino of Mieville Has Passed

 

 There was some sad news for the Mieville community last night. It was revealed that one among them, Ktahdn Vesuvino, had passed away.

I'm afraid I have sad news regarding our DJ & Friend Ktahdn Vesuvino.

A mutual friend, Dragonia Decuir, just told me that a RL friend of Kt's texted her with this information:

--> Kt passed away late Thursday evening, due to complications related to his severe Covid.

I know this comes as a shock,so let us band together in this time of sadness.
Remember, Kt lived a very long life, and had many friends. ♥

We should try to recall the joy he brought us, even while we miss him.

Ktahdn was at the hospital, and is believed to have been undergoing an operation, and died while undergoing the procedure.

 

Besides Mieville, Ktajdn was in a number of other groups, including the Lamplighters and several other Burn2 groups, Book Island, the Fantasy Faire and Fairelands Watch, and had one of his own, "Ktahdn's Musical Medicine Show."

SL personality Prokofy Neva would call this "very heartbreaking news, All of his wonderful dances!" He would later post on Twitter, "ery saddened to learn of the death from COVID of Ktahdn Vesuvino, a wonderful choreographer in SL. So unfair. Here we are dancing to his routine at an event called "Night at the Museum" in Mieville."

Ktahdn had been in Second Life since May 2009.

While the Newser was reporting about the Second Life Birthday last week, there was another birthday celebration going on: America's. Several clubs in the Sunweaver community would celebrate, and I also came across one in Mieville.

Press Release: Silk Road 2022

 

Historical Hunts Ltd. presents the 12th Annual Silk Road Hunt & Event (4-26 June 2022).  Our theme this year is "Crossroads: Japan."  Therefore, when you arrive at the Event, you will find yourself in a place much like Edo Period Japan!

The Hunt is grid-wide, which means hunters will hop store-to-store following landmarks inside each hunt item.  The Event is in Mieville Shelley, at a brand new mega-build created for high visibility and smooth traffic flow.

There are tons of free gifts and top-quality merchandise available.  Seventy merchants are participating, with a wide range of decor, art, clothing, jewelry, furniture, and full perm items for your shopping pleasure.  For a full list of shops, please view our blog (https://historicalhunts.blogspot.com) and click the "Participating!" tab at the top.  The list of merchants includes Sky Willow, Grendels, Fairey Angel Creations, Sanna - Science and Art, Texworks, Timeless Textures, Kisetsu, ~Lantian/Flox~, Storybook Cats, Grasshopper St., and many more!

There is also great entertainment on-hand, including the very popular group: "Keeba's Tiny Maniacs!"  In addition, we offer traditional dancers, an Asian violinist, wandering storytellers, live DJs, haiku and fishing contests, an art show, and four big, costume-themed parties.

Lastly, there is a game at the Silk Road Event called the "Clicky Kitsune Quest."  Once visitors get the free HUD at the Arrival Area, they can wander and click randomly-appearing kitsune (foxes) for points.  These Clicky Kitsune are spread throughout the Event, so visitors are encouraged to explore.  Points can be traded at any time for a wide range of gifts, available at participating merchants' Event booths.  The entire system is FREE, and past, similar games have proven highly popular.

Mieville's Community Thanksgiving Dinner

 

On Wednesday November 17, the Mieville community held it's Thanksgiving Community Dinner. While aimed at the community, it was open to all. So I sent my alt RezzDammit over. The setting was arranged by Farzaneh Eel, Unalunaqat and BellaBorneBradley. 

I arrived a bit late, but there were still some people over. So I got a few pictures. I few more can be seen in Mieville's Flickr page.
