"Golden Nights For Peace" Charity Event

There's been an ongoing series of fundraising events for refugee relief charities, the "Golden Nights for Peace." They have been taking place high above the Paradise Isle sim.

My name is Shantal Gravois, the reigning Miss Virtual World 2018.

 It is my pleasure to  invite you to participate and support a  great cause that is close and dear and my heart.

Years ago I personally had to flee from my native Nicaragua in the middle of a war, where my family and I had many difficult stories.  I have known from the age of 6 what it means to have a gun pointed to your head.  Such a traumatic event for such a small child;  however with the efforts of my parents, we were able to travel to different countries until we were able to call one home.

Today, my people, the  Nicaraguans and Venezuelans, are still living the tragedy and trying to flee from the tyranny of selfish beings to save their lives. This is the reason why I bring to you this event:

This event will combine fashion, competitions, shopping, and goodwill within during the Christmas Season, to raise funds for the immigrants of the genocidal dictatorships in Nicaragua and Venezuela.

We want to help 4 different organizations in view that the immigrants will be able to go to different countries and obtain  aid. As an example the people of Nicaragua are migrating specifically to Costa Rica

The main event was December 15, but there are two more events, Saturday December 22 at 10AM, and the closing concert and party on Sunday December 23. Golden Nights for Peace is sponsored in part by "Best of Second Life" magazine, which was founded by Frolic Mills, whom is Venezuelan in real life.

Fundraiser For Venezuelan Wounded

The situation in Venezuela has been poor for quite some time. But in recent days it's gotten much worse. Flawed economic policies have resulted in shortages of food, as well as medicine. Instead of helping the people, the government instead enacted a new constitution giving itself even more powers under a fraudulent vote, and violently suppresses any dissent against it.

At the Fantasy Island sim, I was told about a store that sells commemorative t-shirts for charity, the money going to help those wounded by the violence. The person asked me not to give his/her name out of fear a Second Life account name would be enough for the Venezuelan government to track down and kill someone. There may be a detailed article with an interview later after precautions have been taken.

A Cry For Help From Venezuela

A year ago, the Newser interviewed Alejandra Jumanya, also known inworld as Miss W. A skilled content creator with a line of women's fashion, she had also attracted attention as her Second Life income had increasingly been making a difference in her real life as in her home country of Venezuela the economy was deteriorating. A couple nights ago, we once again spoke with her. The situation of her and her daughter had gone from bad to worse and was in need of help.

Interview with Alejandra Jumanya of Wetherby's

I recently interviewed storeowner and clothing designer Alejandra Jumanya. The lady has done quite a bit of work on her line of outfits. But what makes her stand out is doing so while dealing with the real-life economic and crime difficulties in her home country of Venezuela. As time has gone on, her Second Life business, once more or less a hobby, is more and more supplementing her real life income as the latter has been shrinking in value.
