On her search for Christmas places, Gemma Cleansate found three that got her interest. Under The Tree had plenty of decorations and gifts. At Tex's Tree Farm, you pick it, you chop it down, you take it home. Over at Christmas Delights, among the items to get included three hundred outfits, plus one could do some skiing and skating.
The folks at the Bellisserian Bureau of Bureaucracy are at it again. It seems besides the passports they've been issuing, there appear to be plans in the words for a drivers license. In ta recent group announcement of theirs, they mentioned a driver's safety course.
You may know the BBB have now added the requirement of a Written Test for a BBB drivers license. We'll make Bellisseria safer! Did you know though that there's a small training center run by the Bellisseria Vehicle Licensing Agency? It's open for anyone to practice & you can rez any vehicle at the rez zone just outside the entrance (LM takes you there). The course is really tight like Bellisseria streets, but you can drive out into deepest Gaeta if you like.
More details are in the BBB Gazette. The person who suggested the drivers license was listed as Persephone Emerald. For now the talk of a license is just that, talk. But the course in Junapel, Gaeta is open for anyone wanting to practice. Or you could just use the rez zone next to the place and just drive on.
Yesterday at November 28 at 6PM SL time, there was a grand opening event for the Talia Painting Exhibit at Netera's Coffee Shop and Enchanted Mermaid Gallery. The event featured live musician Austin Moores. Though when I got there, it was Helena Navarita doing the singing.
Artist Talia Sinsong would say of her works via the notecard announcing the event, "'Fire and Water' is about that brilliant sea of color in the sky and water at the moment of sunrise or sunset. I also included another fire in the sky, a painting with the flash of lightning as a ship weathers a storm.
I am passionate about creating a mood or telling a story in my creations, including painting, drawing, writing, 3D computer models or immersive virtual worlds. I have also worked in filmmaking and was a crew member for two Sundance Film Festival picks. I hope my artwork uplifts you and brings a smile to your face."
The exhibit was stated to last until to December 23.
Several years ago, the Newser interviewed Hope Dreamscape as one of the co-owners of the Full Circle Club. Since then, her life, both real and virtual, has taken a number of turns, some good some bad. Eventually starting anew as Melly Callidora (MelainaGodness). she eventually became the matriarch of a clan in this virtual world. But unfortunately in real-life she faces a number of ailments, including cancer. She requested, and got, a chance to tell what's been happening with her lately.
Sunweaver community Rita Mariner is a longtime fan of the Subnautica game, a survival MMO that takes place in an environment they seldom go: an ocean. So when they came out with a sequel: Subnautica Below Zero, she checked it out while it was in early access and soon wrote her initial impressions. After some more time to play with it and see what's changed as the developers added some new features, and new challenges.
From DeniseUnicorn Toonie, "Bixyl on SecondLife said that my hero walk reminded him of another famous walk. So I give you Denise doing the Amy Squirrel Walk in SecondLife. Squirrel, blue skirt, walkman with headphones, and a cartoon forest backdrop. (I know her arm clips. Blame SecondLife! Deal with it!)"
For the residents of the land the Newser office makes it's land on, they got an early Christmas present. Landlady and community leader Rita Mariner gave those in her sims a month's payment on their rent.
Sunnies: For those of you who rent from me, I have repeated last year's gift. I have gone around the sims and 'gifted" you all a free months rent. I am pretty sure I got everyone, but if you check and I missed you, let me know.
From Six String (roleplayismylife), whom had been invited for a Thanksgiving event in Timesville, in the Wild Pawz sim. A number of people, human, furry, pony, a gryphon, and others showed up for a virtual meal, then there was some kind of game going on outside, people trying to get turkeys. The event was organized by Doctor Larry Battle (Timelord67), Sis saying, "He said it's been going on since the beginning of Timesville, and was intended to bring the people in the group closer together, and spend time together for the holiday." Apparently the events have been going on for about a decade.

We are ALSO debuting a revamped Chippewa Junction as our Traditional
themed Community Region. Located on the main hub of the Bellisseria
Railroad, Chippewa Junction Town Hall features reservable spaces for
conferences, meetings, garden parties and even weddings!
And yes you can reserve a time for a wedding here. One has to fill out this Google Doc: (link). There is no charge to use the venue, but there can only be one reservation per day.
Gemma Cleanslate checked in on some of the Bellisseria group chatter. Patch Linden stated, "It was a different type of challenge to retrofit this into an existing region instead of having a blank slate." A group notice by KrystalKandy would state, "Lots of hidden gems surrounding the area if you explore a little. The
Town Hall has a library. A reception and wedding space. What seems to
be a meeting room and or courtroom. And several other areas that are
worth peeking at. ... Really well done! Big 'appaws' to the Moles! "
Taking a short look around myself, some of these gems were more obvious than others. Next to the Town Hall sign, I saw a smaller one, "Speed Limit: 88 miles per hour." Considering the town hall's clock tower, I was thinking maybe I should get a DeLorean to drive around town.
Registration is now open for the SL Living Expo (a re-imagined Home and Garden Expo) that is running from March 3rd through March 12th, 2023. We have spots for region sponsors, event sponsors, booth participants, donations, raffles, auctions items... and so much more! Remember, this event is expanded beyond home and garden to include aviation, maritime, equestrian, farming, leisure activities, travel, food and so much more.
One of the fun things to do on Thanksgiving Day is watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV. That is if you're able to watch television at the time. For those who can't, or just want to see it at their own time, DJ Frannie has brought the parade to Second Life. On a street in the Enchanted Isle sim, you can watch the floats go by, and even hop on one. But the region offers more than just the parade. There are other things to do.
From "Reality of a Second Life"/Asadorable Delightful (Asadora Summers) on November 9, "Black Friday in Second Life. We all look forward to it, despite some of the frustrations that comes along with it. Make sure to check the community tab for what is coming up later this week!"
Gemma's search for Christmas shopping places continues. One place was Botanica Holiday Store, there not only was there Christmas decor, but Thanksgiving decorations as well as a skating pond. Next was the Christkindl Market & Advent Calendar which had more decorations. Finally there was Michigan's Shack, with great deals and freebies.
As for Perryn, he wasn't forgotten. Someone set up a flat image of him onto one of the chairs: a reminder he was still close to their hearts. And with Thanksgiving coming up, no doubt the people of Mieville are thankful they still have their community land.

Last week was Veterans Day in the United States, or Remembrance Day/Armistice Day as it's known in some other countries. That week, numerous locations would play events large and small in honor of those who had been soldiers, sailors, and airmen. The Newser was at a few.
Yesterday in the official Second Life blog, there were two noteable announcements. Linden Lab stated it was introducing a fourth level for accounts, one between basic and Premium: Plus accounts.
Continuing the theme of giving you more for less: We’re reducing the price of owning your piece of Second Life.
We want to put Mainland ownership within reach of many more residents,
because we think having land of your own is one of the key parts of
This means there are now four account levels, Basic/free, Plus, Premium, and Premium Plus.
What Plus essentially does is allow you to get land in Second Life for a lower price. However, it appears Plus members are limited to owning mainland outside the Linden Home areas. They also get a weekly stipend of 150 Linden dollars, can have up to 512 square meters of mainland without making payments, and can join up to 50 groups (8 more than basic). This for the price of $5.99 USD , or $65.99 per year, (before taxes). This is about half the price of Premium accounts at $11.99 USD a month, or $99.99 a year (before taxes), which give you twice the stipend and free mainland allowance, a larger group capacity, a 1000L signup bonus, a Linden Home, the ability to buy private sims, and more.
They were also lowering the price of mainland area.
In addition to the free allotment that comes with each
membership level, we’re lowering the price at 1/8 region (8,192 m2) and
higher by over 10%
And there is some good news for European residents. For several years, they have had to pay Vaule Added Tax, or VAT, on payments for Premium memberships. As of now, they no longer need to do so
On Saturday November 12, the Newser crew would hold it's monthly meeting at the Newser office in HV Community to discuss topics. Present from right to left were Nydia Tungsten, Dancerina Starlight, Penny Shuftan, Penny Shuftan (Deaflegacy) and myself (Bixyl Shuftan). We would talk about possible subjects to write about.
Probably the high point of the meeting was when I spoke the words "Meeting adjourned." And then the place was filled with confetti, "Yayyyyyyy!"
Taken at the Happy Vixen. Looks like Ana the dragoness has a cloud over head. But what could be the cause? Here's your chance to caption a cartoon. Try and guess what Ana (and maybe her friend) are saying/thinking.
Just as the last of the Halloween decorations have been put away, a certain feeling is coming over some residents. It's an old but familiar feeling, the desire to go SHOPPING! Other residents aren't feeling so giddy, feeling "the reason for the season" is more important, but looking for a good buy to give to friends wouldn't hurt. For both kinds of people, it's Christmas shopping season. Gemma Cleanslate took a look at two places that have gotten ready early: Dench Designs and Snuggles Holidays.
Sometime late Monday Night November 14, the Veterans Tribute came down. The island had been opened on November 1, a tribute to veterans. While aimed primarily at American veterans, other nations weren't forgotten as the Memorial Wall had numerous flags, and the stones had numerous small American and Canadian flags rezzed by visitors. There were a few small events following Veterans Day, the last one on Monday night having a few last minute visitors.
"A shout out and thank you to everyone that made this years Tribute amazing."
Second Life has many clubs. But how many last very long? How about 15 years? Rita Mariner recently sent a readers submission about the two longest-lived clubs in the Sunweaver area: Club Cutlass and Club Zero Gravity. So what did she have to say?
Last month, a military memorial service was held for Waya Snowpaw, a disabled veteran and DJ who was part of the monthly benefit concerts at Veterans Isle for over ten years. But not all of his friends and SL family could make it over. So a second one was planned, and last weekend it took place. Some would speak a few words in honor of the veteran.
Yesterday the Sunweaver/Angel community received some sad news. One of it's members, Jenn Chant, had passed away.
The community has lost another soul today.
Jenn Chant has passed away at 4:30 pm p.s.t. due to heart failure brought on by severe lactic acidosis.
Rest in peace.
Earlier in the day, it was reported in Discord she had been admitted to an ICU with brain and organ damage.
Jenn was a member of both the Sunweaver community and the Nydia's Angels group. She was also in the Passionate Redheads, Builders Brewery, and the New Bastogne WW2 combat RP. In person (virtually), she was known for her feline avatar which always had animated hearts radiating from it. She had been absent from Second Life since May 2020, but continued to post onto Facebook until November 4.
