Video: "The Missing All"

From Merryjest Starchild on September 16, " On Thursday, I lost a dear friend. On Saturday I spent a sleepless night with the words of Dickinson's poem in my head. I sat down to compose and this took shape in his memory. Composed for piano and a choir of most likely very nervous sopranos. Rest well, Crim."

SL Animation: "Walk In The Park"

From DeniseUnicorn Toonie, "Bixyl on SecondLife said that my hero walk reminded him of another famous walk. So I give you Denise doing the Amy Squirrel Walk in SecondLife. Squirrel, blue skirt, walkman with headphones, and a cartoon forest backdrop. (I know her arm clips. Blame SecondLife! Deal with it!)"

Cartoon of the Day: Thanksgiving Typer

Taken at the Happy Vixen. Gil Otaared demonstrates a typing animation that had small stuffed baked turkeys (or are they chickens) floating around her. It was enough to get someone nearby hungry. This is obviously not a typer that someone on a diet would want.

EOTB: Adult Swim Event In Second Life, Intro of Live Streaming, Friday May 8

Fans of the Adult Sim show "The Shivering Truth," a horror-themed claymation animation, will have a reason to come on tomorrow. Linden Lab announced on the official blog there will be an inworld exclusive showing of two new and unreleased episodes of season two. The catch, you'll need to download the beta of a new limited-edition version of the official viewer that allows a new feature that allows for the broadcasting of video events.

Watch two classic episodes and two all-new unreleased episodes from the forthcoming second season of “The Shivering Truth” at this special event, to be held inworld at a new venue created exclusively for this screening.

During the event, you can chat with fellow fans of the show and other special guests as you experience the show together for the first time in the virtual world. Free limited-edition virtual gifts and mementos will also be distributed during and after the show -- just look for the “Free Gifts” kiosk near the front entrance.

The event also marks the first media partnership utilizing the new limited-release Second Life Viewer, which enables content creators and entertainment companies to broadcast live video events to virtual world audiences. In the future, you may see several new forms of entertainment including movie and TV premieres, live concerts, and artist/fan meet-and-greets. We're very excited to partner with Adult Swim for the debut of this new feature, which we plan to integrate into the main Second Life Viewer release in the coming weeks.

To take part, one has to download the beta-version viewer.  Those on Firestorm or other third-party viewers, or the current version of the official viewer will not be able to see the episodes. On the day of the event, Friday May 8, head over before 4PM SL time at ASB (128/128/23). There's a gifts kiosk one can touch to get some limited-edition freebies (the Lab says they won't be there for long). There will be repeat showings every hour to 9PM SL time.

SL Video: "Repeat Hikari"

Repeat Hikari from Tizzy Canucci.

"Selected for Supernova Digital Animation Festival in Denver, September 2019, and included in competition section, for 15 selected artists.

"In Amelie Marcoud’s installation in Second Life on Marina Münter and Megan Prumier’s G.B.T.H. sim, stacked televisions repeated images in endless loops. This video works, reworks and repeats her theme.

"These televisions only exist on people’s screens. The looping images emphasise the equally looped animations of the trees and my ‘human’ avatar – animations that seem ‘natural’ while half-watched but become as mechanical as an a Victorian automaton when looked at with care. Little stoppages occur between the repetitions as the animations return to the beginning. These short loops, potentially saying the same thing infinitely, makes a storyline irrelevant.

"Location: Installation by Amelie Marcoud: HIKARI, was at The G.B.T.H. Project, curated by Marina Münter and Megan Prumier, until 25 July 2018. maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Starry%20Night/204/231/3186

Inside the SL Newser SL14B Exhibit

Bergfrau Apfelbaum did a short animation of the inside of the SL Newser's SL14B exhibit. Matching the theme "Carnivalesque," Silvia  Ametza put in an aquatic amusement park ride. As our job is to inform as well as entertain, there's a model of the Solar System overhead. And the globe represents our dedication to covering events across the Grid.

From Moffett (moffettmephit) of Furry Fashion, a number of Crux avatars dancing around a huge taco. How did the taco get there and why are they dancing around it? Moffet didn't say.

The Drax Files: World Makers "Episode 6: Abramelin Wolfe"

Click  Here if the video fails to load.

From Draxtor Despress, "Motion capture artist Abramelin Wolfe monetizes his creativity by humanizing our virtual lives -- one fluid movement at a time. He puts his dream of an immersive future succinctly: "We want a universe that we can step into!"

Edinburgh-based Abranimations is run by the Englishman with his Scottish wife who designs colorful mesh avatars. The couple makes their living capturing performances ranging from everyday walking and communicating to 1920's flapper dances and Geisha sequences. They then sell the polished animations in their in-world store to a global userbase by way of the Linden Dollar.

But the virtual world is more about fun than it is about commerce for him, says Abramelin: "Second Life is about other people's creativity. Some of it is beautiful. Some of it is just strange...but all of it is amazing! It is like looking into their minds."

Abramelin's hectic work schedule includes expanding the business to encompass services for the emerging Scottish video game industry, but he always finds time to take long flights over the vast virtual mainland to marvel at user-created chaos and beauty. It's a digital testament to human ingenuity and the desire to exercise that muscle of imagination."

Cartoon of the Day

Taken at Club Fur, I was about to take a snapshot of Nydia Tungsten doing a DJ session when one of my jokes resulted in her doing a "facepalm" gesture. They last for about a second, so one can't get them unless you were just about to snap the picture. As for the punchline, well, it's how I imagined what she was thinking. ;-)
