EOTB: Adult Swim Event In Second Life, Intro of Live Streaming, Friday May 8

Fans of the Adult Sim show "The Shivering Truth," a horror-themed claymation animation, will have a reason to come on tomorrow. Linden Lab announced on the official blog there will be an inworld exclusive showing of two new and unreleased episodes of season two. The catch, you'll need to download the beta of a new limited-edition version of the official viewer that allows a new feature that allows for the broadcasting of video events.


Watch two classic episodes and two all-new unreleased episodes from the forthcoming second season of “The Shivering Truth” at this special event, to be held inworld at a new venue created exclusively for this screening. 

During the event, you can chat with fellow fans of the show and other special guests as you experience the show together for the first time in the virtual world. Free limited-edition virtual gifts and mementos will also be distributed during and after the show -- just look for the “Free Gifts” kiosk near the front entrance.  

The event also marks the first media partnership utilizing the new limited-release Second Life Viewer, which enables content creators and entertainment companies to broadcast live video events to virtual world audiences. In the future, you may see several new forms of entertainment including movie and TV premieres, live concerts, and artist/fan meet-and-greets. We're very excited to partner with Adult Swim for the debut of this new feature, which we plan to integrate into the main Second Life Viewer release in the coming weeks.

To take part, one has to download the beta-version viewer.  Those on Firestorm or other third-party viewers, or the current version of the official viewer will not be able to see the episodes. On the day of the event, Friday May 8, head over before 4PM SL time at ASB (128/128/23). There's a gifts kiosk one can touch to get some limited-edition freebies (the Lab says they won't be there for long). There will be repeat showings every hour to 9PM SL time.

Exclusive Winter Gift For Premium Accounts by Linden Lab

When Linden Lab announced their Winter Swaginator Hunt, they also stated that "Premium members will see a very special new and exclusive gift"and it would "go with your Winter Swaginator gifts." A few days ago, they announced it was available for pickup, at least for those with Premium accounts. And what is the gift? A winter cabin.

This charming home-away-from-home features a scripted door for added security, extra textures for the exterior, and other features. If you’ve been collecting the weekly Swaginator gifts, you’ll find this cabin in the perfect place to decorate with those gifts or give it your own personal flair with your unique decorative eye.

So if you have a Premium account, head to a Premium Gift Collection Spot and get it. If you're not, trying gets you a message like that on the left. For everyone else, the clue for the final gift in the Winter Swaginator Hunt should appear on the official blog sometime today.

Eye On The Blog: "Tiki-astik Party," Early Access to SL12B Avatar, For Premium Members

In their latest post on the official blog, Linden Lab announced a special party just for Premium members. The party takes place for one hour today, during which time those attending will be able to get access to the special Second Life Birthday avatar for this year.

Premium members - this one is just for you, so be sure to save the date! We’ve lit the tiki torches and brushed up on our fruity drink-mixing skills to host a casual gathering with the added bonus of early access to our Official Second Life 12th Birthday commemorative avatar.

That’s right - come to the SL12B Premium Meetup on Thursday June 11th from 10:30 to 11:30 AM SLT, hang out with us, and be one of the first to glimpse and grab the celebratory 12th anniversary avatar. The nature of this particular avatar required us to select a remote island for our gathering as well as implement a strict quarantine on the subject, so you’re going to have to drop by our tropical jungle destination to find out what it is.

Linden Lab stated the avatar kiosk will remain up for Premium members to get the avatar from until Midnight SL time on Friday June 12, "even if you can’t come to the Tiki party, you can still get early access to the avatar." They also stated, "here will be more fun for all members to enjoy throughout the month."

It was just a few days ago in which the Lab announced an increase in the number of groups residents can join for Premium accounts only. It seems they're picking up the pace in which they offer perks for Premiums.
