Club Owner Jodi Eyre Has Died

The Newser has been informed by one of her employees that Jodi Eyre, the owner and founder of the Busty Belles club has passed away. "She made everyone feel welcomed and loved," Frost Beam (JD013 Resident) told. He stated she had died in the hospital while undergoing surgery for a brain tumor, :"even though she had that and the illness, she still got on to make sure everyone was happy and felt welcomed."

Jodi had been in Second Life since 2009. Busty Belles has been around for about five years.

SL22B Scheduled Music Events End (Exhibits And Shop & Hop Continue)

Sunday June 29 was the last day for music events and performances at the SL22B, and there were a number across the stages in the SLB grounds.

Among the singers was the longtime SL musician Maximillion Kleene, who played at The Observatory.

At 11 PM SL time came the final event, at the one stage in the Adult sims, at Odin's Bar and Grill, with music by DJ Ninja.

Then at Midnight, fireworks went off at the venue's huge door, with people happily yelling "Happy Birthday Second Life!"

This was the end of the scheduled music performances. But this is *not* the end of the Second Life Birthday. The exhibits and other areas, as well as the Shop and Hop stores, will remain open until Sunday July 20. And there will likely be an occasional impromptu music party during this time.

RFL: Off-Season Kiosk At Cutlass

Today marks the end of the Relay for Life's official fundraising season. But this doesn't mean the end of collections. For the Sunbeamer team, Team Captain Rita Mariner set up an off-season collection tip jar at Club Cutlass. Donations there will go to the team's fundraising season's total for next year.

Club Cutlass is located at Sunweaver Bay (114/117/757).

Cartoon of The Day

Taken at the SL22B Shop and Hop. That's someone in a bird avatar, a rare sight in Second Life. So what would a bird be thinking when flying over someone? I could think of one thing.

Last Day For Sceduled SLB22 Music Events

There's been plenty of music events at the SLB for the past week. But they will soon be coming to a close, at least scheduled ones.

Today is the last day for scheduled music performances at the Second Life Birthday. While there will likely be some unscheduled ones afterwards, this marks the end for when people can drop in the Birthday grounds and expect a music concert.

This does not affect the exhibits, which will still be open to see until July 20.

You can check the musician/performer schedule (here).

"Meet The Moles" Today at 1PM SL Time, Live

"Meet the Moles live at SL22B on Friday, June 27th at 1pm PT! The Moles are builders, scripters, and content creators employed by Linden Lab to work in the Linden Department of Public Works. https://second.life/ldpw"

Philip Linden at The SL22B

On Wednesday June 25, Philip Linden, the founder of Linden Lab and considered the creator of Second Life (Philip Rosedale in real life), was at "Meet the Lindens" at the Second Life Birthday's Astral Athenaeum. Besides those listening in on Youtube, there were well over a hundred avatars present in this intersection of four sims (too many to completely rezz as my picture shows).

Philip shared the stage with Bret Linden, but did almost all the talking. He would express his joy with Second Life and what people have created here over time. He would also answer a number of questions. When asked about AI, he answered Linden Lab was taking a cautious approach about introducing it, and would bring up an essay he'd written recently, "Ultraviolet Catastrophe," in which he suggested in the near future AI bots could overwhelm the Internet social media to the point people will drastically change how they use it. Other questions included possibly bringing back the original Linden World, what's going on with the browser viewer "Project Zero," helping creators in making their builds, and more.

What would he have changed About Second Life? He stated it wasn't an easy answer, but he felt he would have provided more support to "democracy and groups," talking about making groups more powerful somehow. He would then give a closing message:

"Everybody here, all of us, should be proud to have been part of what is now more than twenty years of an experiment in demonstrating that online experiences, something you do online on your computer with other people, can actually bring people together and make them happier and healthier, as opposed to making them lonelier and angrier, which sadly seems to be what we've done with most of our technological product time in the last decade or so....

"And the hope that gives to the world is something we all need right now. The whole world needs to see that you can use technology to bring us together. It is not just a force for evil. And so I think everybody here should be incredibly proud of having been part of that experiment and hopefully continuing to be a part of it indefinitely as we carry on. So thank you."

After the event officially ended, Philip stepped off the stage to chat with the audience who remained, in to a mix of avatars of all kinds, including a goat avatar, "Philip Linden is the G.O.A.T." People had more questions, including someone asking if it was possible for juries to decided the punishments of troublemakers. Philip was intrigued by the idea, but felt if it was ever considered there'd need to be a number of precautions taken.

Eventually, Philip had to leave, and so people went on to other activities.

There would be another "Meet the Lindens" the next day, but a pre-recorded session with Brett and Strawberry Linden. Later today at 1 PM SL time is the final "Meet" for the SL22B, a live session with many of the Moles of the Department of Public Works.

Patch Linden Announced Upcoming Linden Home Theme, Ridgewave Conclave, "Foray Into Commercial" in Belliseria In The Future

On Monday June 23, the first of the Meet The Lindens events took place. Missy Mole, in a tiny avatar with a top hat, welcomed the audience and introduced a few of the Products Operations team, Patch Linden, Kira Linden, and Izzy Linden.

Missy would say that residents had sent in over a hundred questions. When asked about what the plans for Linden Homes were (4:42), Patch answered, "There's a lot of stuff in the works. ,,, we just recently released Aspen Ridge, and we also released updates to the log homes by adding some additional floor plans." He went on to say they've been in the process of updating Linden Homes in Bellisseria over time, calling it "a challenge because of how big everything is now."

Patch would then say the next Linden Home theme "is right around the corner. ,,, it will be called Ridgewave Conclave." It will be for Premium-Plus residents. Patch would give no further details, "let you imagine what that might be."

Patch would also mention "our foray into commercial," saying there would soon be commercial parcels on Bellisseria "with this theme rolling out.... it will be separate and kind of it's own thing. It will take advantage of using your land allotment where you can split it between home and commercial." There would be more information, "as we get closer to launch." But the Linden Homes would have a priority over the commercial areas.

Patch would go on to say further into the year, there would be more updates, including a "big" Linden Home theme "at the end of the year," saying it was "a mix of both" Premium and Premium Plus and promised "exciting features baked into it as well."

More on the "Meet the Lindens" later.

RECoyote Mindes/Richard Orth Needs Help

One of the longtime residents of Second Life's Sunweaver community, RECoyote Mindes, known as Richard Orth in real-life, is in need of some help. He explained his situation in a GoFundMe.

... I used to make a good living as a truck driver, but one frozen winter's night I fell off my truck and totally destroyed my back, requiring spinal implants which then got infected and resulted in even further damage.

Today I can just barely walk, and an in constant pain of about 30 on a scale of 1 to 10, but I live with it because others depend on me, especially all my friends on Second Life and other internet communities.

On top of all that, I have diabetes and bad neuropathy. Oh, and the kidney and lung cancer isn't helping anything either. I have to see some 16 specialists, each of whom want a $35 co-pay. I own the local hospital over $1,300,000 that I will never be able to pay. And every day my situation starts to look more and more unsustainable.

I have applied for every bit of assistance I can get to keep things going, but I already have everything I'm eligible for, and it's not enough. Every month I have overdrafts and things just keep getting farther and farther behind. If this keeps up I risk losing my house, as well as my life on the internet. And, even being in as much pain as I am, I'm not ready to disappear from the world yet. So if anyone out there would like to help I'd be much appreciative.

When he was doing better financially, RECoyote has helped others, such as paying the fee to reduce the sim tiers for the Sunweaver community

For those wishing to donate, Click Here to get to the GoFundMe, "I need extra $1,000 a month to survive. Anything you can contribute would surely help"

SL22B Shop and Hop

Besides the main Second Life Birthday celebration, there's a parallel event that they can take part in, the SL22B Shop and Hop.

With 480 shops across 24 sims, there's a lot for a shopper to go through. The goods here are discounted here at least 20%, and have at least one free gift in each shop for everyone whether or not they're in the store group or not.

For those on the lookout for friskier there, four of the sims are adult rated and separate from the others with adult-rated shops and goods. But across all the sims, there's plenty of decoration to go with the Second Life Birthday's Myths and Legends theme.

For a list of the stores, you can see them after the first part of the Linden blog entry on the Shop and Hop. You can also get a listings of the sims in the Destination Guide. Or you can just jump in at Gleaming (145/148/24).

Annoucement: T1 Radio 20th Anniversary Party Sunday June 29

T1RADIO CELEBRATES TWO DECADES ON AIR
Second Life’s First and Oldest Classic Rock Stream Turns 20
With A L$20,000 Loyal Listener Contest!

When Trader Whiplash learned of the plans to close La Vie en Rose and take Radio dAlliez off the air on June 18, 2005, he decided Second Life needed the venue to remain open. The manager of Alliez Mysterio’s club, located on Rue d’Alliez (one of the first private regions in SL), Trader, who was also head DJ and program manager for Radio dAlliez, decided to bring his own stream, T1Radio, on air full time and keep the club open.  Along with Nuala Maracas and later Madelyn Majestic they continued to provide an alternative to the electronic club mix music prevalent in Second Life’s earliest days.

T1Radio would grow into one of the best-known music streams in Second Life. T1 also became the sound of Relay For Life (from 2006 to 2024), the Spoonful Of Sugar Festival and several other mega-events.  Affectionately known as ‘The T’, it operates from LEGENDS Classic Rock in Arinultra Cay. (Itself one of the oldest continuously operated venues on the grid.)

To celebrate the milestone anniversary T1will be holding a Homecoming Party on Sunday June 29th. T1Radio listeners are invited to attend the event at LEGENDS and to bring their oldest snapshot or texture of themselves at a T1Radio event. The attendee who provides the OLDEST photo will win $L20,000.

To enter the contest simply find your oldest photo of yourself at La Vie en Rose, The Warehouse or Chaps, LEGENDS or any other T1 locales in Rue d’Alliez or Arinultra Cay or other T1Radio event. Take a Gyazo of the picture including the data found at the top, showing the SLURL and DATE and the “Properties” menu from Inventory. The picture must include your avatar and an easily identifiable T1Radio venue feature, signage or logo. Information on how to submit the Gyazo will be provided at the Party. You Must attend the event on June 29th to enter and be present at the time of the winner announcement to win.

Today, T1Radio continues to run 24/7, providing a music mix of Classic Rock, blues, pop, modern country and more. The On-Air Staff of Trader, Nuala, Madelyn Majestic, Fuzzball Ortega and Anni Braveheart host dance events each evening from 5pm to 7pm at LEGENDS in Arinultra Cay. You can also listen to the T by placing our stream URL, http://T1Radio.serverroom.us:8242/stream , on your SL property or in your browser, phone, smart speaker or other internet connected device.

Trader and Nuala and the entire air and production staff at T1Radio look forward to seeing all our friends, old as well as new, as we celebrate our 20th anniversary! We are sure there will be some great stories and reminiscences to share!

Cartoon of The Day: Horse Water Walking

Taken at the Relay Weekend. Some of the time, I went on horseback. And well, when I did the "walk of lag" into past the sim border and into the unrezzed area, it looked like the horsie was walking over water.

SL22B Starts Today

After weeks of preparation, the Second Life Birthday celebrations finally start today. The builds are finished (baring a few last minute minor tweaks), and ready for the public to see them.

The area for the celebration makes up 52 sims, including eight for adult-rated exhibits not shown on this map, being some distance to the east.

This includes the SL Newser's exhibit, at southeast SLB Enchant. Built by the talented Silvia Ametza and her team, it shows how time has altered the Pyramids of Giza.

The event begins at 11AM SL time when the sims all open. At 12 Noon today is the Opening Ceremony by Patch Linden at the Royal Keep at SLB Mesmerize (245/10/76), followed by numerous music events at the stages, with the resident-built exhibits available at any time from start to finish.

EOTB: SL22B Exhibitor Showcase

The Second Life Birthday has many areas, the stages, the Tapestry of Time by the Lindens to show their version of Second Life history. But the biggest part are the exhibits. On Wednesday June18, Linden Lab would post about them in their blog

At the heart of Second Life's momentous 22nd birthday celebration lies a treasure trove of creativity: over 500 exhibitors showcasing 244 mesmerizing exhibits across 19 regions. These exhibits tell the stories of the heroes, myths, and legends created by our talented Residents, all blossoming from the boundless imagination of our community.

This year’s SL22B theme, Myths and Legends, celebrates the adventures we craft in Second Life. Just like the tales we weave inworld, this exhibitor’s showcase is a tribute to the characters and stories that make us all the heroes of our own journeys.

The blog post had a list of all 224 Exhibits, categorizing them by what sim they were in, with the Adult-rated ones listed last. The Lab also stated they will be in the Destinations Guide, though at the time of the writing of this article, the entry was blank. Presumably it will be finished in time for the event.

Linden Lab would also point out the Second Life Birthday Flickr page, inviting people to post pictures there.

The exhibits open at 11 AM SL time tomorrow, with the opening of the sims.

For more information, read the blog post in full here.

EOTB: "SL22B Live Music Events & Performances"

The Second Life Birthday celebrations start tomorrow. And a big part of the celebrations is music. On Tuesday June 17, Linden Lab posted on the official blog about the music performances.

From June 20th through June 29th, immerse yourself in a musical journey through mythical realms and legendary performances at the SL22B stages!

Get ready for an unforgettable experience with over 530 performances in four thematically designed entertainment venues! This is more than just a party; it’s a celebration of creativity, music, and the tales we tell through sound and performance.

Mark your calendar and stay tuned to the Birthday Events Calendar, so you don't miss any of the magic!

The official events go on to Sunday June 29, then stop. But there very well may be unsceduled ones afterwards.

Relay Trophies

The Relay Weekend is over, and my SL family, Charlee, Winter, and I, have set up a few momentos in one corner, such as the trophies we got for our walks around the track.

Winter did at least one complete lap, and got the "Turtle" award, which is what the majority of Relayers who walk the track get. I ended up getting a "Rabbit" award for walking the track at least ten times, the first time in my years at the RFL in SL I've ever done so. And Charlee got a "RoadRunner" award for walking it twenty times, also her first one.

The Relay season itself is winding down, with only the ACTS Royal Ascot and a few other smaller events going on until the official end.  But we still have other events later this year to look forward to, such as Making Strides, the Renaissance Festival, and the Winter Expo. And next February it starts all over again with "Wild For A Cure."

Go Relay!

12th Annual Royal Ascot by Team ACTS

Firestorm Viewer Update Soon

For those who haven't kept up with the Firestorm blog, on https://www.firestormviewer.org/, they say "The wait is nearly over" for their next viewer update.

On May 21, the team leader explained they delayed a new update, "This was initially a deliberate choice as we were seeking stability rather than just cranking out another update, having had three updates in the 6 months prior," and there were complaints  "I wanted to ensure that this next update was not just bug fixes and tweaks; it wasn’t all about PBR but offered real, tangible benefits for people."

In Part One, they talked about AO enhancments, iintegration with the Primfeed social network, ("Firestorm has no affiliation with Primfeed beyond our technical collaboration"), Phototools V2, Avatar and Animesh Poser, "photo goodies" in the form of Faming & Composition helpers and Depth of Field for Hi Res photos, and water and sky Legacy environment rendering improvements.

In Part Two,  they discussed "Digintally signed builds for Windows, an anti-phishing measure that allows you to see the full adress of a URL before clicking on it, Inventory management, SLAPPS "a special kind of SLURL that perform a special function," VRAM control, Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing, Subpixel Morphological Anti-Aliasing, Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, a tonemapper option, ambient lighting re-aligned, and some features for builders and creators, as well as qiality of life.

No date has been given for the new update. It may be today, tomorrow, or next week.

A Few More Days For The Hair Fair

With the Relay Weekend having just taken place, there's one other cancer-related fundraiser some may have missed: The Hair Fair. But if you're interested, hurry up as it lasts only a few more days.

Hair Fair 2025 is now open, where all the participants of this event showcase their latest Exclusives (pictured) as well as past releases, that all donate a percentage to Wigs for Kids. We hope you will join us for the two weeks this event runs per year, and possibly find some new to you creators, while buying from some favourites.

There are six sims of stores, Blonde, Redhead, Noirette, Foils, Brunette, and Streaks. It should be noted that not all of the money the event makes goes to charity. Some items only give the minimum amount. But the bandanas and hairwraps do sent 100% of their sales to the charity.

The event won't be up for much longer. Sunday June 15 is the last day.

For more information, check the event blog: here.
