Press Relese: Bay City Fifteenth Anniversay
A MILESTONE ANNIVERSARY FOR BAY CITY
First Mole Project Now Fifteen Years Old
BAY CITY, SL
Bay City, the first major project undertaken by the “Moles” of the Linden Department of Public Works, will turn fifteen years old this May. In honor of this achievement, residents of Bay City will host their annual parade through the city, followed by a live music event in the Bay City fairgrounds.
Bay City opened in May of 2008 to initial viewing, with parcels being auctioned throughout the city not long after. In 2011, its land mass doubled, absorbing the copy of Bay City from the former Teen Grid. It has developed the largest community-focused virtual urban area in Second Life.
Parade participants are asked to gather at noon SLT/PDT on Sunday, the 21st of May, to lineup at the band shell in Bay City - Harwich. The parade will wend its way down Route 66 beginning at 12:30 p.m. SLT/PDT, and will conclude at the Bay City Fairgrounds in the North Channel region.
A music event will kick off at 12:30 p.m. SLT/PDT at the Fairgrounds with DJ DJ GoSpeed of KONA Stream providing music leading into the event until 1:30 p.m.SLT/PDT , followed by Jesie Janick from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. SLT/PDT, Maximillion Kleene from 2:30-3:30 p.m. SLT/PDT, and AleyKat (Aleylia Resident) from 3:30-4:30 p.m. SLT/PDT.
All Residents of the Second Life grid are encouraged to participate. Celebration goods, including parade float bases and ideas, are available at the Bay City Community Center, in the Daley Bay region for those who wish to be a part of the event. Ample viewing areas are provided for all. The music event is also open to all who desire to attend -- not only Residents of Bay City, but the entire grid is welcome.
Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab® and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life® and provide a venue for Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. It is now the largest Bay city group, and home to most Residents of Bay City.

Scenes From The Bay City Tree Trimming Party
Sunday December 6 was the tree-lighting party at Bay City. The event took place from 1 to about 4 PM SL time in the North Channel sim, the Bay City Fairgrounds.
The tree itself was south from most of the action. It was unlit while I was there. The lighting would be late in the event. There were ice skates available for people to take and skate around it.
There was a silent auction with a number of items up for bid. This was to support the Child's Play Charity (www.childsplaycharity.org).
A number of Bay City regulars were there, including top citizen Marianne McCann. The party had a special guest at one point, Wendi Linden. She dropped by, and joined in the fun.
Three musicians did the music for the event. First was GoSpeed Racer whom DJed via her KONA radio station. Earlier in the day she was at Book Island to talk about her latest novel. After her came two life musicians, Maximillion Kleene and Wolfie Starfire.
It was a fun event with plenty for people to enjoy.

Firestorm 10th Anniversary Party This Sunday
After being delayed for about a month, Team Firestorm, the volunteers behind the Firestorm Viewer, is ready to throw it's tenth anniversary bash. It's real anniversary was actually last month, September 3 2010 being when the team (known then as Team Phoenix) was formed. The event starts at Sunday October 18, Noon SL time, and will last for three hours to 3PM SL time. Each hour offers music from three big-name musicians.
We’ve lined up 3 BIG names to bring us live performances through our 3-hour party!
Savannah Rain opens up the party for us, 12–1 pm! ...
Maximillion Kleene rocks the second show from Canada, 1–2 pm. ...
Keeba Tammas and the Tiny Maniacs performs the finale show, 2–3 pm. ...
As with most of their anniversary events, Team Firestorm is offering presents to it's fans. One is a tiger from Wild Kajaera. The other, appropriately enough, is a pet phoenix made by Rezz Room.
Rezz Room is celebrating Firestorm’s anniversary by donating an incredible, animesh, fiery Phoenix companion pet. It can be worn or rezzed and can be set to a radius or to follow its owner.
The SURL of the location hasn't been officially announced yet, the team asking you check their blog an hour before the event. Though a search for Firestorm-owned places revealed a likely location high above their sims.
Once again, the party is on Sunday October 18, from Noon to 3PM SL time.

Benefit Concert at Veterans Isle Raises Over 155,000 Lindens
Earlier this week on Sunday February 24, Veterans Isle held it's monthly fundraiser concert. Starting at 11AM SL time, several live musicians and one DJ performed for the audience as they listened and danced. The event was organized by Frets Nirvana to raise money for the Homes For Our Troops veterans charity.
At 2PM, it was the turn of noted musician Maximillion Kleene to take to the stage.
A one hour solo acoustic pop/rock show with Max for an awesome cause https://www.hfotusa.org/ Music from The Avett Brothers, FOO Fighters, The Beatles, Ed Sheeran, Barenaked Ladies, Jason Mraz, U2, Train, requests and more. All are welcome.
People donated their cash into two house-shaped kiosks on both sides of the stage. By the end of Maximillion's hour, the amount raised had reached 100,000 Linden dollars. Other performers on the schedule were Waya Snowpaw, Agatha Nowles, Austin Moores, and Singergirl Mode.
Avatars of various shapes and sizes showed up at the concert, including a huge werewolf that looked 12 feet high. While he looked fierce, he just donned a big cap and danced away with the others.
Not everyone was dancing all the time. While I was there, I noticed two people who were taking a moment to reflect on those veterans who didn't make it home.
At the concert's end, a total of 156,750 Linden dollars had been raised.
Veterans Isle usually holds events to raise money for Homes For Our Troops (https://www.hfotusa.org/) on the last Sunday of every month. The next event should be on Sunday March 31.

RelayStock, Bid The Lindens Bald, Starts Today
One of the more notable multi-team events, Relaystock, will be taking place this weekend. A tribute to the famous music festival in 1969, for three days, the place will be full of hippie costumes (some better than others), 60s music, dancing, and lots of mud. The music will be provided by T1 Radio, and various DJs and live performers on stage.
Taking place at the same time is the "Bid the Lindens Bald" event. Last year, the three teams of Lindens involved raised over L$1,478,000. And once again, three teams of Linden Lab's finest are putting their hair on the line. How much will be raised this time?
Besides the Relay Rockers who are hosting the event, many other teams are taking part, camped out in tents or vans. The Sunbeamer camp is located at RelayStock2018 (129/124/23). As of now, the team has raised 279,063 Linden dollars, closing in on Jade level.
Come on by, though bring a raincoat unless you're not afraid to get a little muddy. The fun starts today at 2PM SL time.
