Bay City, Second Life's® city by the bay, is once again preparing to ring in the new year with their annual "Prim Drop" on the evening of the 31st of December. Festivities will commence at 11:00 pm SLT within the Bay city Fairgrounds in North Channel. 

The party will include a two-hour set of music presented by Marianne McCann to mark the occasion, as well as fireworks and other festive fun. Food, drink, and other party favors will be provided for all attendees.

All Second Life® Residents are welcome to attend and ring in the New Year with the Bay City community, but do note that the event is envisioned as an outdoor, high-class, wintertime soirée. As such, black tie attire and/or full dress is requested. 

This will also be the last event within Bay City this year for donating to Child's Play Charity (www.childsplaycharity.org) .  Child's Play is a 501c3 non profit organization offers online communities such as ours an opportunity to help seriously ill children around the globe during their hospital stays with the purchase of games and gaming equipment.

Press Release: Bay City's Annual Tree Lighting And Fundraising Concert

 

BAY CITY, SL (2 December 2025) -  Celebrate the holidays once again as the Bay City Alliance hosts its annual Tree Lighting event on the 7th of December, 2025, from 1-4 pm SLT, at the Bay City Fairgrounds, in North Channel ( http://slurl.com/secondlife/North%20Channel/128/128/24/ ). 

DJ GoSpeed of KONA Stream will start off the event, followed by crowd favorites  AleyKat (Aleylia Resident) and Maximillion Kleene. In addition to the music, the event will also feature ice-skating, dancing, and refreshments.

As part of the event, a silent auction supporting Child's Play Charity (www.childsplaycharity.org) will be held. Bay City has supported Child’s Play through the holidays for many years, and is very happy to continue this partnership.

Dozens of items will be available including one-of-a-kind art, vehicles from top Second Life creators, home furnishings, gift cards, and much more.

Press Release: Lighted Boat Parade 2024

 

BAY CITY TO HOST ANNUAL BOAT PARADE

Event will include skate party

BAY CITY, SL (13 December, 2024) - Bay City will show their holiday spirit with a lighted boat parade launching from the New Port Yacht Club and traveling the waters to Uccie's Lighthouse, then north to the Bay City Fairgrounds. The event will kick off at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th, and will finish with a skate party in the Fairgrounds, with music provided by local musical celebrity DJ GoSpeed of KONA Stream.

Participants from across the grid are welcome to join in: many mesh boats come with party lights and other options, but if the boat doesn't have lights, we'd recommend adding some, either by editing them onto the boat, or creating a lighting rig you can wear in advance. Or you may visit Uccie's Lighthouse in Luna Palisades or the Bay City Fairgrounds in North Channel to view the parade. Bleachers are provided at the latter location

Donation bins will also be present at the event, with all proceeds going to Child's Play Charity. Child's Play is a 501c3 non profit organization offers online communities such as ours an opportunity to help seriously ill children around the globe during their hospital stays with the purchase of games and gaming equipment. Thus far in the 2024 season, Bay City has raised L$241112 for the charity.

Bay City's Annual Tree Lighting

 

About a week ago, Bay City held it's annual Tree Lighting party. DJ GoSpeed Racer would play music for the crowd, along with live musicians, Tamrya Haden and Franklee Anatra. But besides the fun, there was another part of the event, a silent auction to raise money for a children's charity.

There will be much merry-making,  ice-skating, dancing, refreshments and lots of fun for all!

Scenes From The Bay City Tree Trimming Party

 

 Sunday December 6 was the tree-lighting party at Bay City. The event took place from 1 to about 4 PM SL time in the North Channel sim, the Bay City Fairgrounds.

The tree itself was south from most of the action. It was unlit while I was there. The lighting would be late in the event. There were ice skates available for people to take and skate around it.

There was a silent auction with a number of items up for bid. This was to support the Child's Play Charity (www.childsplaycharity.org).

A number of Bay City  regulars were there, including top citizen Marianne McCann. The party had a special guest at one point, Wendi Linden. She dropped by, and joined in the fun.

 Three musicians did the music for the event. First was GoSpeed Racer whom DJed via her KONA radio station. Earlier in the day she was at Book Island to talk about her latest novel. After her came two life musicians, Maximillion Kleene and Wolfie Starfire.

It was a fun event with plenty for people to enjoy.

Scenes From The CDS Inaugural Ball, Bay City's Christmas Party

There's lots going on this month when it comes to events, especially those with Christmas themes. Among those the Newser was at last weekend were the Inaugural Ball at the Confederation of Democratic Simulators, and Bay City's "Annual Tree Lighting, Concert, and Fundraiser." A Busy Sunday

Sunday was an active day. It was the last official day for the RFL Christmas Expo, and among the last big events was the "Holidays for Hope" ball. The stage was cleverly designed, looking like a music box. The event lasted from 1 to 6PM.

The Expo wasn't the only event going on. Bay City had it's Christmas Tree Lighting party. with the music provided by DJ GoSpeed Racer and live musicians Melinda M. Baptiste and Erika Ordinary. This was a two hour event from 1 to 4 PM SL time. The event raised a little money for the Child's Play charity.

Announcement: Bay City Tree Lighting Event

It’s that most wonderful time of the year!

Once again, the Bay City Alliance will host its annual Tree Lighting event, now in its eighth outing, on Sunday, 9th December 2018 from 1-4 pm SLT.

The event will be held at the Bay City Fairgrounds, in North Channel (SLurl) and will feature DJ GoSpeed Racer as well as live performances by Melinda M. Baptiste and Erika Ordinary.

There will be ice-skating, dancing, refreshments and a great deal of fun to be had!

We will once again be supporting  Child’s Play , a charity that helps kids still be kids when they are in hospital, with donation kiosks around the venue.

Vintage automobiles featured in Second Life® event.

BAY CITY, SL (14 August 2017) - Bay City's mid-century theme -- and it's large network of roads -- is celebrated annually during its "Hot Bay City Nights" event. This Second Life® bassed event features vehicle makers who create virtual automobiles from the Bay City "theme era," from 1940 to 1965.

The event is held in the the Bay City Fairgrounds, in the North Channel region, from the 19-27th of August to present the best in vintage and retro vehicles. Each designer is hand-picked, and presents great road vehicles for use in Second Life.

Additional events will provide plenty for all to do, including the crowning of 2017s Miss Bay City on the 27th, and a series of virtual car washes in support of Child's Play Charity, an organization that provides toys and games for children in hospitals around the world. Bay City's Secret Event Revealed: Everfest March 30 - April 1

Recently, E.F. Committee (EFcommittee Resident) of Bay City finally revealed the reason for the secret messages he or she has been sending since just after Mole Day, here, here, and here. The community would be holding a festival to honor a late noted resident; Ever Dreamscape.

"We aimed for mysterious and 'Ever-like,'" E.F. Committee explained to me, "We realized that there were 3 days between the 'Dreamscape 500' on Thursday and Ever's night on Saturday, so decided to make it a festival this year. Three days we think she'd have totally loved. The Bowlathon is for Ever's favorite charity, Child's Play."

For those who don't know, Ever was a noted part of the Bay City community, who helped organize events. But she was also known for her quirky sense of humor. She would set up many kinds of calamities, but was particularly known for setting fires. In early May 2014, she passed away. Shortly afterwards Bay City honored her in an unusual way by setting much of the city aflame.

Of the earlier teaser messages, "We wanted to build 'mystery' but also get people thinking 'WTF?' We'll type up what each image had to do with Ever, including the links."

The event will include, "random sharks, fires, aliens and Godzillas. We did, with love, when Ever was ever around." Of fires, "that's post party on Ever's Night. Dennis will burn, and we hope most of BC will as well with us. ... We are striving for a very.... ForEver event. She was very unique, it's taking a lot of us to try and even come near" her level."

E.F. Committee concluded, "More details are coming, and everyone is invited. We'll send out LM's in the notecard explaining the posters."

And so, Bay City gets ready to honor one of it's more unique residents in a very unique fashion.

Bay City has long been a supporter of Child's Play, both for their mission as well as their desire to keep a low overhead: meaning more money goes to help kids in need, not "administrative costs." Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab® and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life and provide a venue for

Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. It is now the largest group for Residents of Bay City.
