BAY CITY'S "PRIM DROP" TO MARK END OF 2025

Bay City's New Year's fête coming 31st December
 

Bay City, Second Life's® city by the bay, is once again preparing to ring in the new year with their annual "Prim Drop" on the evening of the 31st of December. Festivities will commence at 11:00 pm SLT within the Bay city Fairgrounds in North Channel. 

The party will include a two-hour set of music presented by Marianne McCann to mark the occasion, as well as fireworks and other festive fun. Food, drink, and other party favors will be provided for all attendees.

All Second Life® Residents are welcome to attend and ring in the New Year with the Bay City community, but do note that the event is envisioned as an outdoor, high-class, wintertime soirée. As such, black tie attire and/or full dress is requested. 

This will also be the last event within Bay City this year for donating to Child's Play Charity (www.childsplaycharity.org) .  Child's Play is a 501c3 non profit organization offers online communities such as ours an opportunity to help seriously ill children around the globe during their hospital stays with the purchase of games and gaming equipment. 

Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab® and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life and provide a venue for Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. It is now the largest group for Residents of Bay City.

The Newser's New Year's Party

 

About twice a year, the Newser crew takes a short break from covering the news and has a little party for itself and it's fans. So a few days ago, they gathered on top of the office at HV Community for a little music and dance. A number of people showed up, and some pictures were taken.

New Year's Eve was a busy time in Second Life, with many places having parties. Yours truly went to several, and took a number of pictures. So many were taken, it took a while to get them all up. But here they are.

Bellisseria Rings In The New Year, Two Mainland Embassies

 

With the New Year ringing in, Gemma Cleanslate took a break from her checking out winter places. For New Years Eve, she spent the night at the party at the Bellisserian Fairgrounds. She would also check out the new embassy in the mainland continent of Nautilus, which opened a few days before the year ended, and the opening of the one in Gaeta last week.

Join The Newser For A PARTY!

 

It's the start of a new year of reporting the news in Second Life. And so the staff is going to take a short break and relax with a New Year's beach party. The event will be at the Happy Vixen from 12 Noon to 2PM (at least that's the plan). So get your swimsuits, and come on over for a couple hours of fun. For those arriving early, or sticking around afterwards, there are games and a movie theater to enjoy.

Ringing out the old year and ringing in the new has always been a reason to throw a party. But with all that's happened in 2020, more were looking forward to it this New Year's Eve than ever for a very long time. A number of places held events. Several were part of the 12 hour FCA New Year's Club Crawl. But there were others.

Some New Year's Eve Events in Second Life

Second Life has no shortage of parties, and for ringing in the New Year, there were a number. From the Goblin Cave in Caledon Downs to the Fairgrounds, people either celebrated before or after going to real-life parties, or did so just in Second Life as they had more fun there than at the local bar. It was full of bright lights, cheers, and well-wishes and hopes for 2020.

Announcement: Ring In The New Year At The Goblin Cave

Duchy Cynthia invites all to come and ring in the new year at the Goblin Cave. When? Well Monday New Years Eve silly. Starting at 9PM and lasting at least till 1AM. Bay City's New Year's event set for 31st December

BAY CITY, SL (26th December, 2015) - Citizens of Bay City, Second Life's® city by the bay, will be marking the end of the year in fine fashion, attending the annual "Prim Drop" in the Bay city Fairgrounds in North Channel on the evening of the 31st of December. The party will include an hour-long set of DJed tunes presented by Marianne McCann, as well as fireworks and other festive fun. Food and drink will also be provided for all attendees.

The event is presented as an outdoor, high-class, wintertime soirée, and black tie attire and/or full dress is requested. All Second Life® Residents are welcome to attend and ring in the New Year with the Bay City community.

This will also be the last event within Bay City this year for donating to Child's Play Charity (www.childsplaycharity.org) .  Child's Play is a 501c3 non profit organization offers online communities such as ours an opportunity to help seriously ill children around the globe during their hospital stays with the purchase of games and gaming equipment.

As of the 24th of December, Bay City has raised L$151,408 for Child's Play Charity through their annual silent auction and tree lighting concert, as well as other local events.

Bay City is a mainland community, developed by Linden Lab® and home to the Bay City Alliance. The Bay City Alliance was founded in 2008 to promote the Bay City regions of Second Life and provide a venue for Bay City Residents and other interested parties to socialize and network. Eye on the Blog: New Year's Contest, Xmas Present, and More

While the Newser has been busy reporting on Christmas-themed events across Second Life, Linden Labs has not been inactive. They've posted a few goings-on in their blog, most recently about a New Year's Eve photography contest.

Winter has arrived — and the spirit of the season is evident in every sense — from the snow on the ground in many parts, to the merriment and joy and observances across the world. We want to know how you celebrate the coming of the New Year in our New Year Snapshot Contest. If it’s a whole new look for your avatar, or an inworld party to celebrate — share your snapshots for a chance to win L$10,000,  L$5,000, L$3,000 or L$1,000. Visit the contest in our Official Forums for details and to enter.

There's also a Christmas present from the folks of Linden Lab, just go over to Portal Park 1 and find it.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth — come by one of the Portal Park locations to pick up a free holiday gift. Look for the red gift box and click it to get your copy — and enjoy the seasonally decorated Portal Park while you’re there.

The prize wasn't far from the Portal Park 1 (133/119/23) location provided, just beyond the arch labeled "Social Area." I (as my alt) got a copy of the present, and rezzing it at the office had a gingerbread house, "Happy Holidays from the Linden family!"

Earlier entries from not long ago included an update on "Experience Keys," which Linden Lab first announced they were working on in July, demonstrating it at "The Cornfield" game. This time, they were offering a "Release Candiate" viewer for the feature.

... a new Viewer Release Candidate makes it easy for you to manage all your experience permissions in one place. This new Viewer makes it easy to Block, Unblock, or Reset experiences. Additionally, an Events Tab logs the objects and scripts you encounter in an experience, so every action performed on your avatar will be saved or recorded. Have a problem with an experience? We’ve also integrated a new reporting feature to make it easy to flag bad experiences to our Support team for review. Search is also available in the new Viewer, so you can explore all of the growing number of available experiences that use this feature.

Earlier in the month, they offered a new feedback and suggestions page.

Many Second Life users have thoughts on this - from different approaches for the way things are done today, to brand new features that could dramatically improve their experiences, to seemingly small things that could have a big impact. And if things have seemed wonkier than usual on the Grid, it likely was not your imagination. The Lab posted that there were certain "recent inventory issues" going on with accounts.

Happy New Year! 2013 Arrives in Second Life

On Monday January 31st, residents across Second Life rang out 2012 with parties and other events around the Grid. Large and small, residents found a number of places, and a few different ways.

For about eight hours, Tribute City held a New Year's Eve party from about 10AM to 6PM SL time. Four DJs, playing for two hours apiece, performed. And 1500 Lindens was given out every two hours for those judged Best in Theme. While there, one could pick up party favors, such as hats and horns, or get a glass of bubbly. For Europeans, this was one place to ring out a little early, but there was no shortage of Americans there to help celebrate a little early.

Jessii2009 Warrhol, the co-owner of Tribute city, celebrated along with the other partiers at the crowded club in WW2 Tribute. She's also known as one of the leaders of the Flying Tigers air combat group.

At 6PM SL time, Club Little Dove started it's own New Year's Eve Bash. Among the FCA Clubs, this was the one of which the event fell on it's operation hours. The zeppelin floats over the Colorado sim.

Cynthia Farshore was the DJ for the event. The self-proclaimed "Goat you got" did a six hour track of songs, some modern pop, some classic rock, and of course "Aud Lan Sang."

About a dozen and a half people were at the party at one time. A number of people had to leave early and a number arrived late. A total of a few dozen attended, as one by one, the New Year was rung in across the time zones. There was a prize of 2000 Lindens for the Best in Theme. Perri Prinz, writer and popular DJ, won.

It wasn't just clubs celebrating New Years. In this reader submitted picture, the Stalingrad combat sim launches fireworks in the air at the stroke of midnight, taking a break from the fighting.

Numerous other places celebrated New Year's Eve, from Mystery, to Club Gearz at Steelhead, to Madpea, to Luskwood, to the Odd Ball, and more. And the celebration's not over yet.

New Year's Day offers more fun and merryment. Club Zero Gravity has it's "Happy Rockin' New Year"party from 6 to 8PM, with DJ Perri playing classic rock hits in tribute to Dick Clark whom hosted "New Year's Rockin' Eve" until his passing on in 2012, with 500L on the board for Best in Theme. The event is at Purrfection Estates (229, 11, 3365)

And the party continues from 8 to 10 PM, or longer, at Castaway Cove with "Skylark's Rockin' New Year's Day" beach bash. Partiers are asked to wear Father Time or Baby New Year outfits, or one of the mild to wild outfits one might wear on the streets of Time Square. The party is at Kalmeere Paradise (18, 184, 21)

The Holidays come to a close this week, and with them the old year as we ring in 2012 this Saturday night. Many sims continue to host Christmas-themed events for those who couldn't see them earlier, as well as winter themes. Plus there are some art exhibitions such as "Wave Fields." And of course there are the usual noted club music events, plus talk shows and races.

Happy New Year

It was a joyous New Years Eve last night. A time to celebrate with friends, and sometimes get back in touch with old ones. Among the places I went to was Club Little Dove for it's grand reopening. The sim was packed for quite some time, and a good time had by all.

Later on, there will be more to tell. But for now, yours truly is pooped.

Club Little Dove Returns for New Years Eve

Nydia Tungsten recently informed me that she plans to reopen Club Little Dove for New Years Eve. Little Dove was originally a floating Steampunk-style structure kept in the air by propellers, briefly open for the Relay for Life. This time, the club will be a zeppelin, the dance floor just over the control room.

The party will be at 8 PM SL time. No landmark is currently available, though the club is in the Southern Colorado sim. People can IM Nydia Tungsten for an LM.

Other clubs and social areas will have their own events, such as Cutlass at 6 PM SL time. Club Zero will also have an event, but no time was given. Last Year, Linden Labs hosted an official New Years event, ringing in 2010 when the clock struck midnight for every time zone. But there seems to be no such event planned this time.
