Scenes From The FCA "Christmas in July" Club Crawl

Last weekend, the six clubs of the Furry Club Alliance had a marathon club crawl event. For twelve hours, a crowd would party at one club for a couple hours, then hop to the next one. "Christmas in July" was the theme. And so songs were played, prizes were won, and a good time was had by all.

Weekend in Brief

A number of events happened in Second Life this past weekend. Raglan Shire had their Wootstock music event (above) from Friday to Sunday. The Burnstock took place in Burning Man - Deep Hole also from Friday to Saturday. The six clubs of the FCA held their "Christmas in July" club crawl on Saturday, mostly in the Sunweaver community. Sunday at the Veterans Isle sim, they held their Homes For Our Troops fundraising concert.

More on these events later.

Various Events on New Year's Eve

Ringing out the old year and ringing in the new has always been a reason to throw a party. But with all that's happened in 2020, more were looking forward to it this New Year's Eve than ever for a very long time. A number of places held events. Several were part of the 12 hour FCA New Year's Club Crawl. But there were others.

Scenes From The Newser Anniversary Party

The Newser is currently in it's busy season, with both the Relay Weekend and upcoming Second Life Birthday to report on. But we still take a little time to have some fun with our friends. Last Saturday, June 1, the Newser staff and some of our friends came by the Happy Vixen beach club for a small party to celebrate our nine years of reporting. It was quite an occasion with a few pictures taken.

A Busy Weekend

Quite a lot happened over the weekend. There was the Relay for Life Club Crawl and other Relay events. There were the Relay track sims starting to be prepared for the Relay Weekend next month. There was more discussion about last week's announcement from Linden Lab about Premium account price and cashout fee hikes. Outside of Second Life, there was Apple announcing they would soon retire iTunes. And of course there was the SL Newser's ninth anniversary party.

We'll have more about some of these events later. So stay tuned.

Team Sunbeamers Reach 300,000 Lindens Raised

The RFL Club Crawl that's been going on over the weekend has been very good for both Team Harmony for Hope and for Team Sunbeamers. Last night at the Club Cutlass party, the "Sunnies" reached the 300,000 Linden dollar mark. A month after reaching Platinum Level fundraising, "The Little Team That Could" continues to move forward. For those wanting to help the team closer to Jade Level, come to the Happy Vixen tonight at 3 PM SL time for the Sunbeamer's last part of the club crawl, at Purrfection Estates (236, 219, 24)

Once the club crawl is over and done with , the team can focus building it's campsite at the Relay Track. None of us can get it's location yet, in northeast RFL Strength. So yours truly had to crack his viewer's draw distance up to the maximum to get a picture.

So what do we have planned for this year? You'll see.

Go Sunbeamers! Go Relay!

Join The Newser Crew For Their 9th Anniversary Party

It was nine years ago that the Second Life Newser came to be. And to celebrate our anniversary, we're throwing a party.

The Newser crew is inviting it's friends and readers to the Happy Vixen, the beach club of the Sunweaver/Angel community that has been the location of our main office building since our beginnings. We will have three hours of music and dancing from DJ Grease and DJ Snowbuns.

The Happy Vixen is taking part in the Relay for Life Club Crawl (details here), so instead of tips for the DJs, people are invited to make donations to the two Relay kiosks at the club.

The fun will be tomorrow, Saturday June 1, at 12 Noon SL time.

Scenes From The FCA (Creepy) Club Crawl

Today is the Linden-organized Halloween-themed "Creepy Crawl" event. But it hasn't been the only venue crawl going on. Last Friday, the four clubs of the Furry Club Alliance held the first event involving all of them since the newest member joined: the FCA Furry Halloween Club Crawl. For ten hours, people danced as they enjoyed the music and spooky scenery.

A Busy Weekend

Quite a bit happened this weekend. The Burn2 art and music festival ended this weekend with the high points being the Burning of "The Man" (pictured above) and the Temple Burn. The "Creepy Club Crawl" took place between four clubs over ten hours. Caledon had the "Screampunk Ball" and a Halloween party at the Goblin Cave. There was a "Be the Match" fundraiser for bone marrow testing and transplants. There was the Halloween Madness in the Confederation of Democratic Simulators, and more.

More on some of these events later.

Scenes From The Relay: The "Club Crawl" and "Bid Me Mesh"

On Friday June 8 and Saturday, the Relay for Life's Team Harmony for Hope hosted a "Club Crawl" to raise funds for the participating teams. Their second one in two years, two of the participating four clubs were from the Sunbeamers team, the Happy Vixen beach club and Club Cutlass. The following day was another noteworthy event, Team Relay Rocker's "Bid Me Mesh." The objective of this event was to give a new look to "Second Life's last surviving newbie avatar." So how did the events do? Both did very well.

Club Crawl Raises Over 274,000 Lindens

Over the weekend of April 29 to April 30, the Relay for Life "Club Crawl" took place. Organized by team "Go The Distance," twelve clubs and several teams took part. This included Club Amaratha of Mel's Maniacs, and Club Cutlass, the Happy Vixen, and Xanadu for Team Sunbeamers. The donations went into a special two-team kiosk with half going to "Go the Distance."

The Maniacs, whom have been getting help from Dusk Griswold, whom is also with the Sunbeamers, did very well, going from several thousand raised to the Rising Star mark of 25,000. They have since continued to climb to a total of 48,000 as of the writing of this article. Team Sunbeamer also did well. Of the three clubs, the Happy Vixen raised 6000 Lindens, Xanadu raised 9000, and Club Cutlass raised 18,100 for a total of 33,100 raised between the three clubs. With half going to the Sunbeamers, their total went up to 146,300, continuing their "inching towards Silver," only three other teams between them and the next level of fundraising.

The club that brought in the most was Club Bonanza, for the Conanza Country RFL Team, which raised 61,000 Lindens, and getting the Team to Gold status. Team Go The Distance reached Platinum rank during the event.

What a great event!  Thank you to all 12 Clubs and teams that came together for One Cause!  You all brought in over 274 Thousand Lindens!   It was a great success!  Congratulations to BONANZA COUNTRY RFL TEAM for bringing in 61,000L!!!!
It was a great time of outreach and coming together. Team GO THE DISTANCE thanks you all!

This upcoming weekend are more Relay events, such as the Mad Hatter's Dance For Life, and the Halfway There Fair, which takes place from tomorrow Friday May 5 to Sunday May 7 at the American Cancer Society sim.

A Busy Weekend Part Two

Quite a bit happened yesterday, such as the Relay for Life Club Crawl at Xanadu pictured above. Unfortunately, yours truly is too tired to write much about it. We'll have more about it later.
