Patch's Jail and Bail

 

On Friday May 8, the Fantasy had it's Patch Jail and Bail. There were close to a hundred people in the sim, and the place was so laggy many avatars wouldn't rezz or were half-rezzed. To those who don't know, Patch Linden's Jail and Bail had been postponed twice, then was thrown up in the air when he was dismissed from Linden Lab last week. 

 

One more for the road! Let us take this opportunity to welcome a new (but oh so familiar) friend to the Fairelands. You may think Linden, but we say Pawtato. Either way it’s still the same old Patch so whether you are coming to say farewell or welcome, grab a friend or two and come party with Patch! 

 

Some people would rezz. Many had the tag "We <3 Patch." And I wasn't the only one having trouble seeing some avatars, "I seee.. ummm so many naked people, hehe."

Unfortunately for me as a photographer, the former Patch Linden, now Patch Pawtato, would only be a fraction rezzed, not much more than his nametag showing up in my viewer. He was in a jail cell made from peppermint bars and other candies. 

 

There were also some items up for sale, such as boopie dolls, duplicates of the candy jail, pink flamingo balloons, and more.  "I gotta get that Boopie, I'm a Boopie addict!" Someone was passing out cutouts of Patch for free. 

 

There were numerous jokes such as licking the cell bars and poking fun at Patch's surname, "lets do the hot potato," "All this Pawtato talk makes me hungry for some Pawtato Chips," challenges made by people to match donations, more joking comments, "I reject the Unweaver! I also reject the underwear." "Oh, Emm, Gee! Elayne will end up in the poor house after today!" Patch himself was licking the bars, even after a wolf was, "Someone seal that door shut with more royal icing. Don't let Patch escape!"

 

Patch also promised to get the Lindens to extend the Faire if the kiosk reached 800,000 L. It was, to Wednesday May 13, and the amount donated to the Relay kiosk continued to climb. People asked for "Fairelander" to be available once again as a choice of last name to choose to, but I never heard an affirmative to that. 

 

There was a griefer who tried disrupting the event. He was quickly ejected, "Kick that f**ker!" 

 

Eventually, the two hour mark was reached, and Patch was let go. Over a million Linden dollars were donated for the event, plus over a hundred thousand chipped in the vendor kiosks. 

 

 A video of the event was also done. 

 

 Stingray (Stingray9798 Raymaker) would say,  "Thank you again Patch -- not just for today, but for over 20 years of supporting ACS/RFL/Fantasy Faire in Second Life. Your commitment to our mission is a BIG reason why we've raised over $6 Million USD since 2005, why Fantasy Faire is one of the top Relay For Life 'team' events in the U.S. every year, and have consistently ranked among the top 20 Relay For Life events in the world for the past 5 years!! "

Update on The Patch Linden Jail And Bail Today, Friday May 8, At 11 AM

 

It seems Patch Linden, or simply "Patch" as he's being called, will get his goodbye party after all.

 

Patch Linden's Jail and Bail had already been postponed twice. Then his dismissal from Linden Lab seemed to doom it. But the entry for his scheduled one on Friday May 8 remained unchanged. Then this morning, the announcement had changed to the following:

 

 Friday, May 8th, 11AM – 1 PM SLT on The Golden Hour

One more for the road! Let us take this opportunity to welcome a new (but oh so familiar) friend to the Fairelands. You may think Linden, but we say Pawtato. Either way it’s still the same old Patch so whether you are coming to say farewell or welcome, grab a friend or two and come party with Patch!

 

So it seems the event has been changed from a jail and bail in which he was offering perks from Linden Lab to a farewell party. Once again, at The Golden Hour sim in the Fairelands at 11 AM SL time.

The ever-vigilant Pawlice have discovered that Patch Linden has been involved with the Notorious Moles ransacking the candy store for a nefarious attempt to emulate Hansel and Gretel. Shocking! Candy Detox is ordered in a Gingerbread Waffle Jail. There is evidence! There is candy! There is a rumor that the Pawlice will eat both while Patch offers bribes – big, stupendous, amazing bribes – to the Fairelanders to bail him out! How will it turn out? Come to the Golden Hour on the hour, dance around with DJ DaveOSaurus’s tunes and see!

Multiverse "Jail and Bail" Raises "Over 25,000" Linden Dollars For Parkinsons

 

Yesterday. Tuesday November 4, was the final day of the Multiverse Fair, a Halloween-themed major fundraiser for the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which funds Parkinson's research. Among the events was a "Jail and Bail" that took place in the afternoon. Bixyl Shuftan was there, and was witness to the fundraising, and carnival chaos.

Fantasy Faire Continues

 The Fantasy Faire continues. Besides the scenery and the shopping, there are events. During much of the day and early night, there are DJ parties at the Fairchilde in The Golden Hour sim.The deck gets filled with dancers of all kinds of avatars. So these events can be a treat for the eyes as well as the ears. 

Friday April 18 from 1 to 3 SL time was the Patch Linden Jail and Bail. There were about 120 avatars present. Many things were auctioned off from a new last name to Premium resident time to ownership of a sim. There was some mock banter from the crowd, "Grab your pool noodles, he's going down!" "You are jailed for life!" But it was all in fun.

 

I thought I heard at the end 500 Linden dollars were raised in total.  

Patch Linen would also say that the Faire would be extended two more days, to Tuesday May 6, and that for those who missed the chance to get Fairelander as a last name last year, there would be another later this season, "Stay tuned for details and an announcement from the Faire."

 

 And of course there's the great scenery to explore. 

And then there's the people you'll meet. Besides coming across RacerX Gullwing and Mariane McCann, there was some guy being crazy with a bus, going up and down stairs with it.

When Patch Linden wanders into the Fairelands, strange things happen! Who would’ve thought that a peaceful magical pond on The Golden Hour would manage to trap him by some mysterious force that is too mysterious for even our finest Pawlice minds to solve? Oh, the finest minds are on a waffle break? And it’s the flamingos and frog-disguised …special forces on the case? Oh well. Due to unforeseen complications Sheriff Darkwatch is calling for reinforcements, namely all the Fairelanders to help Patch escape the pond. Patch knows the Hearts of the Fairelanders and is ready to provide offerings in exchange to the linden donations flowing into the Relay For Life kiosks. Come get yourself a plushy frog, bid on the bribes fair exchange for freeing Patch and party to the tunes of DaveOSaurus!

Scenes From The Fairelands

 

 

 Quite a bit has been happening in the Fairelands. At the party ship Fairchylde, there were a number of people DJing. This included Fuzzball Ortega of the Steelhead Salmons, whom is most noted at the Relay for his huge hairpiece, usually known as "The Hair." But while DJing this time, he was without it, "We are NOT crashing Fantasy Faire with The Hair."

 

 

The Fairchyle wasn't the only place for music events. In "The Golden Hour," there was a viking-themed DJ event, with Obic Malaprop playing.

 

 At one point, Oblic commented, "Alright if you all don't start hitting that kiosk I may have to resort to terrible puns." The response was immediate, "NO PUNS!" "Nuuuuh!!!! Not puns!!!! Feed the kiosk, Quick!" "No not the puns! Haha!" Oblic grinned, "And I so wanted to tell the one about the viking cannibal ....he had a Swede-tooth." Ten minutes later, "Whelp time for a pun... Did you hear about the viking who hit his thumb with a hammer and bit his tongue? ......it was Thor." The audience reacted, "Oh dear (laughter)" "Ouch!" "Ba'doom'tish!" "(cries)"

I also dropped by a Jail and Bail featuring the people behind the Teegle horses, "We don't really understand the charges against us, but here we are. Something about customs regulations and an accusation of bribery? You've got to help us get out of this mess! " 

 

Some horses were put up for auction. A few went for over 50,000 Linden dollars.

 

 

 The Children of Stories Roleplay is also continuing, fuller details to come.

The Linden And Mole Jail and Bail

 

 

The Fantasy Faire is known for many things. Among them are the "Jail and Bail" fundraising events. But on Friday April 19 was the Linden and Mole Jail and Bail. Scheduled for 1 to 3PM SL time, this was a chance for residents to bid on things, and get a limited edition pet.

The annual Linden & Mole Show is in town! Apparently they have run away to join the circus, and will continue to trick you — wait, I mean — perform tricks until ticket prices in RFL kiosks (and morale) improve! Exclusive Faire boopie available only at this show! (What is a boopie? Come over and find out!) Other briberies of various sorts to be revealed on location! You’d think they want to get back to juggling JIRAs and feeding server hamsters with these offers! ‘n here I thought they liked the circus. Do YOU want your grid running? Do YOU want bugs squashed? Do YOU want the Birthday Celebration? ONLY YOU CAN SAVE THE LINDENS! (and put them back to work)

 

Dropping by the sim The Golden Hour, saying the place was packed was an understatement. There were about a hundred and forty avatars present, and it took several minutes for half of them to rezz. A circus tent stood out just behind the Kindens and Moles. Wendi Linden was there, juggling. Ancient Mole was there in his fishy tiny avatar, acting like a circus strongman with a barbell. 

 

And there was Patch Linden. Patch has been quiet in Second Life lately, not having spoken anything in Bellissaria chat for weeks, and sitting out the VWBPE Linden event for the first time in some years. He would be among those my viewer stubbornly refused to rezz, I getting the picture here from Wildstar Beaumont.

There was one item available for free for anyone, a "wootberry juice" fountain. As mentioned in the announcement, there was also an item for sale exclusively for the event: a "Boopie" pet. It was actually a set of three, one animated that floated over your shoulder and sparkled occasionally, one hugable and sparkled when pressed, and one static that was meant to be placed somewhere. 

 

I arrived somewhat late.  Fantasy (FantasyFaire Resident) was ringing out the totals, at 425,000 L raused There were all sorts of things being bid on. One was "dinner with Ancient (Mole)." Someone looked at Ancient's green appearance, "Is it dangerous to feed Ancient after midnight?" Then Patch offered the following, "Alright, here's another really special one!   A Family Name Change, which includes a custom last name of your choosing, and up to 10 invited friends or family to join in with having the same last name with the winner!" The bids went from 25,000 to 50,000 and to a whopping 100,000 Linden dollars. That turned out to be the final bid.

 

Patch would offer some good news, "First, The Faire shall get an extra two days for all to enjoy, it will be open until May 7th!!!" That got cheers, "Two more days!" Then Patch offered, "And lastly, as Linden Lab and Second Life's other gift to the Faire this year, we're going to offer the ability to receive a name change to Fairelander which will be available exclusively here at the fair, through to the end, and 100% of the L$ proceeds for purchasing the name change will be given to the Faire and the American Cancer Society.  For more information on how to obtain please watch for an announcement at: https://fantasyfairesl.wordpress.com/ ." Ancient would later say the name change could be done through a vendor at the Fairlands.

The residents cheered, the tinies riverdance, then people began to go their seperate ways. Ancient told me quite a lot was raised in total at the Jail and Bail, "We mades like a million L$"

Reader Submitted: "Patch Nakies And Faceless At Fantasy Faire"

 

Taken by Wyv the Biteypants FloxMonster™ (Wyvern Dryke). When Patch Linden had his "Jail & Bail" On Friday April 21 at 1PM, the lag at the Sambeaubee sim was so thick, many of the avatars took a long time to rezz for me, or just wouldn't at all. Patch  didn't even appear as a name tag for almost an hour. When I commented in Faire chat I'd likely have to borrow the pics of others, Wyv pointed to the link of a Flickr picture he posted,"ell I just crashed and relogged so Patch is nakies and faceless. Bad picture time X-D" then told me, "Put -that- in the paper hahahahah!" And checking the picture, it seems Wyv wasn't having much better luck than I was.

Fortunately as time went on, Patch would eventually rezz for both of us, and Wyv would send me a second picture.

And no, the black bar wasn't really necessary, but someone would have complained if it wasn't there.

Addition: This wasn't the only "nakies" picture of Patch out there, who responded with a "Help, Patch Has Lost All His Clothes" forum thread post. 

Patch Linden's Jail and Bail

 

A lot has been going on at the Fantasy Fair. Among them, the Jail and Bail events. But seldom do they get bigger than when one of the Lindens is in the virtual hoosegow. And they don't get any bigger when Linden Lab's VP, Patch Linden, volunteers. On Friday April 21, "The Jailing of Patch Linden" took place, with the sim getting packed to unbelievable numbers and with loads of Lindens being donated for Patch to go free.

Fantasy Faire Radio Online, Other FF Details

 

 

With the SL Living Expo over, and April around the corner, Relay fans are looking forward to another major event: The Fantasy Faire. Having gone on for well over a decade, the Fantasy Faire is an event that many Relayers look forward to almost as much as the Relay Weekend, if not more. There will be eighteen well-designed sims to walk through and explore. There will be numerous music events to attend, such as at the Fairchylde. There is the Literary Festival. There are the roleplay sessions. There are the discussions. There are the Jail and Bail events, including those in which the Lindens end up behind bars. There is the Fairelands Quest. And there's the shopping, lots of it.

 

 One thing about the Faire is currently ongoing, it's radio station. A few days ago, Fantasy Faire Radio went online. 

 

Applications for stores have been available to fill out for a few weeks, and can be found (here).

The Fantasy Faire takes place from Thursday April 20 to Sunday May 7.

Oldesoul's Jail and Bail Events

One of the events that go on with the Relay for Life are "Jail and Bail" events. While the more high-profile ones involve the Lindens and Moles at the Fantasy Faire, any team can pull one off any time during the Relay Season. As part of the Fantasy Faire "Pawlice" as a tiny, Oldesoul Eldemar has been behind a few. But this past weekend, Olde found himself inside the cage for a change, twice.

Patch Linden "Jail and Bail" A Gutsy Move

  

No doubt the Lindens have been chewed out by the residents many times. But never before has it been reported one was swallowed.

For the Fantasy Faire "Jail and Bail" events, the high point is when the Lindens (and sometimes Moles) take part. This year, the volunteer for the event in the Featherfall sim was Patch Linden. But if prison has been called "the belly of the beast," it was quite literal in this case. Instead of a cage, Patch ended up in the stomach of a giant teddy bear. To make matters more interesting, it was slowly filling up with fluid. 

Needless to say, some people were shocked at the sight of one of Linden Lab's finest looking like he was in danger of being digested, "Oh my gosh you guys!!! Just holy *&^$$^&*&&%$%$&*$$^& cow!!!!" "Poor thing it's drowning!" Others were more relaxed, "Oh, Patch still has plenty of breathing room." "Nooooo, let Patch melt; his bears will become priceless relics to put in the museum!"

The event started at 1PM SL time, and attendance was high from the start. 75 residents were in at the beginning. Later on, the maximum number was raised, at one point 102 seen.inside. When it dropped to 100, I gave it a try, and somehow I got in.

Patch offered a number of items to bid on as part of the fundraising for this event. Among them was a year of Premium. Another was getting a sim for three months. There was also the chance to get a free name change. 

Near the end, the total amount raised at the Jail and Bail was truly big, closing in on the one million mark,"We are sooo close to 1M on the kiosk!" Some residents had one more demand before letting him go, "MOARE FAIRE TIME! " "We needs longer fair time!" Patch got the message, "How about, the Faire runs until the 12th!!!! ... I'm trying to get you more time!"  The residents from some was approval, "Preeeettyy please with sugar on top and whip cream." Finally Patch announced, "OK!!! Here we go!!!!    Take it to the 12th!!!!" The response was cheers, "Thanks to Patch and everybody for doing this \o/ yayy Patch!"

Finally, Patch was released. Someone commented, "Uhoh we lost our flesh prison." Someone asked him, "Do you need a towel Patch?" The Linden responded, "Something. A shower too."

No word on how many jokes Patch Linden will have to endure. 

Over 1,700,000 Lindens was donated at the event, an amount even larger than that of the roleplay party on Satuday

With the extra days, the Fantasy Faire goes on to Wednesday May 12.

Patch Linden Jail and Bail Today

  

The Fantasy Faire is noted for many smaller events taking place as part of it. Among them are the "Jail and Bail" fundraisers. For those not familiar with the idea, a volunteer is "arrested," and detained for a certain amount of time in a cell while Lindens are donated for his or her release. Tomorrow is a special Jail and Bail, one involving Patch Linden and probably other Lindens, as well as some Moles.

Our friends and fellow Fairelanders at the Lab are some of the most supportive people, and make the Faire possible each year. So, naturally we have the most stalwart of them, Patch Linden arrested for your amusement! Yeah, see this is why we can’t have nice things…

In addition to being good sports, the Lindens always bring goodies and temptations in a sack as big as a whole sim – Region! Not sim! We say Region now. Sorry, Patch!

Uplift to the Cloud with us as the Fairelands Watch proves once more that their reach knows no bounds!

Fantasy Faire Mole Jail and Bail Event

Yesterday on Wednesday April 29, the Fantasy Faire had a popular event, the Linden and Mole "Jail and Bail." The event has always brought in plenty of money for the Relay for Life. But it's also brought in no shortage of humor and funnery. The Newser was there, and between crashes was able to catch some of the chaos.

Fantasy Faire: Linden Jail And Bail, Delay of The Quest

Wednesday April 24 was a notable point at the Fantasy Faire with a certain event: the Linden Jail and Bail. Two Lindens, Patch and Madori, and one mole, Ancient, were locked in a circus cage. A few others were nearby either for moral support, to make sure their peers weren't tarred and feathered for recent glitches, or both.

Getting there well after it started, it seemed the three were in some danger of being accosted by tinies, "I poke your tummy!" "Let's all poke his tummy!" "TUMMY BEEP!!!!" Someone defended their actions, "Because he's secretly the PIllsbury Doughboy!" One however did give them something to drink, "It's prison wootberry."

Patch responded by stripping down to his undies, perhaps to distract the crowd. Some found this shocking, "This just jumped from PG to something else." But some just called for more, "Get your blackmail pictures of Patch in SPEEDOES!" "I am putting that in my profile!"

Ancient didn't think too much of the cage, "Smells like sweaty rat in here." At one point, he was chewing on the bars. Mystic Mole cautioned him, "Ancient, that isn't a snack!" Someone shouted, "They made of licorice, Ancient!" Ancient spat, "I hate licorice, you monsters!"

Patch would give out a few of the coveted Linden Home houseboats plus sis months Premium for free for 50,000 donations, "One more houseboat for 6 months, L$50,0000!!!!!" His last giveaway, "A custom named account for L$60,0000. ... It will have to be a new account, created specially for you!!!" It was quickly snapped up by Gwen Enchanted.

Gem Sunkiller would tell me a total of 434,000 Linden dollars were raised at the event.

It's no big secret that in the past several weeks, the Grid's been a little buggier than usual, and tping to the Fairegrounds, or even just sim crossing can be problematic. But the most noticable glitch at this year's Fantasy faire is the delay of the Fairelands Quest which was supposed to start on Monday. Instead, it's been delayed day after day, and finally yesterday on Wednesday people were told the goal was to get it working by Friday April 26.

The fiercest gremlins on the grid. The finest gremlin-smackers in the metaverse. It's a battle to the death -- all to rescue the Quest and restore it to our Faire family!
There's still work to be done, but our heroes with their vorpal swords pledge to win the day. We're aiming at seeing the Quest make a joyful return on Friday.
Never fear, with the extra days we'll have for the Faire this year, you'll have plenty of time to finish, and enjoy the best dragon's hoard of prizes anywhere!

Fantasy Faire Begins Tomorrow

One of the more popular of the Relay for Life events, the Fantasy Faire, is almost here. There will be sixteen sims with plenty of scenery to explore. There will be numerous shops to get items from. There will be numerous events from book readings from roleplay discussions, and music and dance parties. There will be the Fairelands Quest game. There will be "Jail and Bail" events by the Fairelands Police, which include Jessica Lyon of Team Firestorm and yet to be revealed Lindens. And much more.

The Faire opens at 11 AM SL time tomorrow, Thursday April 18. The events go on until May 5, with the sims remaining open for a short time afterwards.
