Last Day For The Fantasy Faire

It's the last day of the Fantasy Faire, and the last day in which you'll be able to enjoy the Fairelands for this year before they close to the general public. One can do a little sightseeing, like I did.

There are also impromptu events and gatherings. I missed the Centaur Parade, but I did catch a "Mad Dragon Party" at the Fairechylde following a dragonflight.

I continued to come across avatars of all kinds.

I would end up doing the rest of the quest, finding the last of the ingredients ...

And after finishing the ritual, one flash of light, and the quest was complete.

And a trip to the final area to get the prizes.

Enjoy the last day of the Faire,

The Fantasy Faire Winds Down

The weekend of May 9 and 10 would see the last of the Faire's official events, aside from ongoing ones. Among those on Saturday May 9 was a showing of a stage performance at 4PM, "The Book of Tangles" with Justine Johndory as Alice and Merryjest Starchild as the Cheshire Cat (natural choice).

Close to about eighty saw the show, and the cast got a roaring round of applause. There was a video made, which should be available for the Newser soon.

Sunday May 10 would have fewer official events. The big one was the Live Auction at the Golden Hour sim. The place was packed with well over a hundred present.

On Monday May 11 was "The Final Ravedown," which on paper ran from 11 AM to 7PM, though probably went on longer.

Avatars of all shapes and sizes danced away, regular humans being a tiny minority from what I saw the short time I was there. Supposedly glowsticks were not allowed because of a certain incident, one that supposedly happened again last tear. But I doubt anyone was paying attention.

While some no doubt partied for hours, others were shopping, casually exploring the sims, or doing the Fairelands Quest, part two taking place in Kallissaya.

There are some obstacles to overcome, such as finding the elusive Boyd the bird. For those who get stuck, there's often a helping hand in Fairelands chat.

And on Wednesday at 12 Noon is an encore performance of  "The Book of Tangles" for those who missed it the first time or just want to see it again.

Enjoy the rest of the Faire,

The Fairelands Quest: "The Pilgrim's Forest"

Among the things to do at the Fantasy Faire to do is The Fairelands Quest.  Part story, part game, one  gets prizes for completing parts as one progresses, and gets a large amount at the end. The theme is year is "The Pilgrim's Forest."

The Bard Queen has good news. Possibly great news. A cache of soul-seeds has been found.

The ancient seeds could be the key to creating a powerful force against the Unweaver. But who can know if they’ve held their magic after so many years? That can only be discovered if Fairelanders – as many as possible – are willing to take on a pilgrimage to bless the seed, prepare it for planting, and solve the riddle of the ritual that will awaken a hallowed forest.

And so the Bard Queen asks, “Will you take a seed and try?”

To play the quest you need the HUD. You get it at one of the various HUD vendors across the Fairelands sims. The ones at Fairelands Junction is at (148/161/19). If the sim is busy, try one of the others such as Moonfleet Bay (133/154/76). The vendor with the Basic Hud needs 250 Linden dollars. If you want the Deluxe HUD, which also has an outfit you can do the quest in, that takes 350 Lindens.

Once you have the HUD giver, you find it in your inventory, click on it and select "add." It, in the form of the Faire symbol, will appear in your hand. Click on it, and a folder will appear with the contents in your inventory.

The Deluxe HUD package  has Fantasy-themed outfits for men and women, and human/furry and tinies,

After "click and add" on the HUD and "Hero," your companion in this quest, you visit the Bard Queen in Fairelands Junction to start it.  If you have trouble finding her, head to 209 108 95

You then head to Willowton Cuthbert to see the first shrine. Once you do, you get a message from Hero, asking for you to meet up with her.

You then head to Kalliaaya to meet up with Hero.

You then visit the shrines across the Fairelands. After that comes the next step.

Have fun questing,

Fantasy Faire Ends

It's been a great Fantasy Faire, but unless there's been some last minute reprieve, the sims of the Fairelands are now closed to the public, fading back into the virtual nether from whence they came.

So I, and many others, went around for one last look.

At the various scenery and builds.

I missed the "Ravedown," but there's next year.

I finished up the Fairelands Quest, "The Dreamcasters Cauldron," getting the pieces, and after talking to the mages, made the repairs and activated it ...

And got special thanks from the Bard Queen and the Dreamcaster, as well as a large reward of prizes.

And so, the sun has set on another great Fantasy Faire. But we can look forward to the one next year. And for the Relayers, there's many other events this month, and of course the Relay Weekend on June 7 and 8.

Fare well Fairelanders,

More At The Fantasy Faire

The Fantasy Faire continued this weekend. While there were smaller events at the Fairchylde and the Literary Festival, I was preoccupied with taking care of the Fairelands Quest. For those lacking patience or time, there's now an Express version of the Quest HUD that will take you at the end, for 5000 Linden dollars. But most appear to be toughing it out.

Getting the pieces of the cauldron in the quest involved exploring plenty of detailed scenery.

And sometimes the search felt like looking for a needle in a haystack.

 More on the Faire later.

Addition: For those who missed out on their chance to change their last name to "Fairelander" last year, the option is open again. (Click here) for the details.

More At The Fantasy Faire

The Fantasy Faire continues. Dropping by FF Holi, the place had detailed East Indian architecture.

Every hour, the place has colorful clouds going up into the air.

Going about, I continued to come across interesting scenery.

From small scale

To large.

And continuing the Farelands Quest with my companion Pax (if he doesn't appear on your shoulder, check the option on your HUD that makes him visible or invisible).

That's it for now. More on the Faire later.

The Fairelands Quest Is Up

Good news for Fantasy Faire fans, anyone who likes an interactive story, likes games with big prizes, and especially all three. The Fairelands Quest is finally up and running. This year, the name of the Quest is "The Dreamcaster's Cauldron."

The Bard Queen is perplexed.

All across the Fairelands, there’s been a rash of bad dreams. Not just bad — really bad. Teeth-gritting, terrifying, haunt-you-all-day-long nightmares.

Sleepers are waking in a panic. In some, annoyance turns to fury. Assertiveness turns to aggression. Sadness turns to deep despair. Throughout the lands, violence and misery are spreading in ever-widening circles.

What could possibly be happening?

To get the Quest HUD, it's located in Fairelands Junction and most other central areas of the other Fairelands sims (at FJ, it's at 44,139,87 ). You will see a pair of kiosks labeled "The Dreamcasters Cauldron." For just the HUD, quest companion, and lantern, pay 250L in the smaller kiosk. The larger has those and a number of outfits, one for male and female for normal sized avatars, plus a few for dinkies.

To play, you'll need to attatch both the hud and your companion Pax. The outfit is optional. So is the lantern, though it will help you see in dark places. The first step is to find the Bard Queen, who explains the situation. Then you have to find the dreamers, presumably followed by your companion Paz. After that, well, we'll see.

More on the Quest, and the Fairelands, later.

*Addition* I thought the first thing after talking to the Bard Queen was meeting with your companion. But that wasn't the case this time.

Fantasy Faire Ends

Unless there's been the rarity of the sims lasting into the early morning, then sometime last night, the Fairelands became closed to the public. Tuesday May 7 would have no major events, official or unofficial. The people were looking around the scenery one last time, finishing the Fairelands Quest, doing some last minute shopping, or just chatting with other Fairelands fans about the Faire, and maybe previous ones.

It's been quite a fun time, exploring the detailed sims, running into numerous fantasy avatars.

And doing the Fairelands Quest, of which this year was baking a magic cake for the Bard Queen.

And got it done, and heard the conclusion of the story.

It's sad that the sims are gone. But the Faire will be back next year. And for the Relay, the events go on. This Friday is the Relaystock. The Sunweavers have their Ren-Faire later this month. And next month is the Relay Weekend and it's track.

Goodbye Fairelands, see you next year,

Bixyl Shuftan

The Fairelands Quest

The Fantasy Faire is known for many things. Among of which is the Fairelands Quest. This year, the theme is "The Seven Layers of Joy." You'll find vendors for the Quest HUDs at the TP entrance of Fairelands Junction, and most of the other sims of the Fairelands. There's a basic HUD for the quest alone, and a Deluxe HUD for both the quest and an outfit. They cost 250 L and 350 L respectively.

Once you make the donation, you click on your inventory and add the item, which appears on your hand as a double-F. Click on that, and the contents will appear in your inventory. This year, there are separate outfits not just for men and women, but human/furry avatars and smaller ones for tinies. The human one comes in Anatomy, Belleza Jake, CZ Slim, Legacy, Maitreya, Signature Davis, and Signature Gianni.

Putting on the outfit is optional (it took a while to figure out where the pants were). Once you put the HUD on, you get some backstory to the Quest. It's been seven years since the Bard Queen fell ill to a fever, one that was treated by the Quest that year. But the doctors weren't sure it was an outright cure, and told her she had to wait seven years to make sure it held. It has, and she should be happy. She is overall, but something is worrying her. Your first part of the Quest is to find her somewhere in Fairelands Junction and talk to her.

Your next step is to find Theo, your snow leopard companion for the quest. Unlike companions from previous years, he doesn't sit or over above your shoulder, but walks beside you. He directs you to your next spot, where you find his friends, the companions of the seven previous quests. They explain what they plan to do, and they need a little help. So it's combing sixteen sims for pieces of what you need, at least for the first part of the quest.

The release date for the second part of the quest has not yet been announced, at least as of the writing of this article.

Happy questing,

Bixyl Shuftan
