Last Day For The SL23B

Hat tip to Zada Bury. She told me about where a conga line was going on at the SL23B at the beach area, and I went over and took a picture.

Remember, this is the last day the SL23B grounds will be open to regular residents. After Midnight SL time tonight, they may be closed to people entering.

Last Day For The Golden Ticket Giveaway

After 23 days, Linden Lab's million Linden dollar Golden Ticket Giveaway for the SL23B is almost over. Today is the last chance to get a shot, or another shot, at one of the prizes. Once the clock strikes Midnight, that's it.

The winners will attend an event on Friday July 17 at 9AM SL time (Noon EST), which will be broadcasted on Youtube, with 22 10,000 L prizes, and one 1,000,000 L prize.

Conversations with others entering have people wishing each other luck, with a girl or two offering to be the "arm candy" of the winner. So who will it be? Baring the unexpected, we'll know Friday.

The Second Life Birthday goes on to Sunday July 19.

Last Day For The Fantasy Faire

It's the last day of the Fantasy Faire, and the last day in which you'll be able to enjoy the Fairelands for this year before they close to the general public. One can do a little sightseeing, like I did.

There are also impromptu events and gatherings. I missed the Centaur Parade, but I did catch a "Mad Dragon Party" at the Fairechylde following a dragonflight.

I continued to come across avatars of all kinds.

I would end up doing the rest of the quest, finding the last of the ingredients ...

And after finishing the ritual, one flash of light, and the quest was complete.

And a trip to the final area to get the prizes.

Enjoy the last day of the Faire,

Last Day For The SLB

For those who put off checking out the Second Life Birthday sims, this is the last day to so. One is about a Second Life myth, "Our Lady of Perpetual Silence." It's at SLB Delightful (212/184/21).

But there's more than just the exhibits. Zady Bury invited me to eheck out what's in the water.

And there was much to see off the beaten path. The Moles did some great work.

Be sure to check it out.

Sadly, unless there's time to do one more update, this will be the last article showing the exhibits as anything other than a memory. After Midnight tonight, the SLB sims will close.

Last Day To Submit SLB Applications

For those still wanting to submit applications for exhibitors, volunteer staff, and performers , today Monday May 19 is your last chance. After Midnight, no more applications will be accepted.

If past history is any guide, within several days the first exhibitors will get emails from Linden Lab saying they've been approved, where their plots are, and how to get into the exhibitor group.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Fantasy Faire Ends Tonight at Midnight

All good things must come to an end. Sadly, the time for the Fantasy Faire is winding down. Originally scheduled to end Sunday, it got a two day extension at Patch Linden's jail and bail. So it's scheduled to end some time after Midnight tonight, Tuesday May 6.

Thanks to Patch we have been gifted with 2 additional days in the Fairelands. To help with planning your time I want to let you know the regions will definitely be open through midnight SLT on Tuesday, May 6. Realistically, since blue fairies tend to be asleep then, it will more likely be around 9am SLT Wednesday morning. Basically anything after midnight SLT Tuesday is the cherry on top of the extra day whip cream on top of the ice cream sundae that is

Those who want to push things until the last minute may want to take note in the past some people could not get in a few hours before the scheduled close. On a positive note, the sims *might* remain open until late morning on Wednesday.

It's been a great Faire, so enjoy the sights while you can.

At The VWBPE Conference

Today marks the third and last day of the Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education conference. There have been a number of discussions, and today a few more before the official close.

Among the discussions was one featuring Patch and Grumpity Linden, "What's Up at The Lab?"

Much of what Patch and Linden talked about was already discussed in the Lab Gab earlier this month, though there were a few additions, such as Grumpity Linden saying the beta release of the mobile viewer would be unlikely before the fourth quarter of 2023.

Last Scheduled Day For SL18B Exhibits

Since Thursday June 17, the various exhibits of the Second Life 18th Birthday have been available for all to see. But today, Tuesday July 6, is the last day scheduled most will be able to see them. Tomorrow, the plan is to close them to the public as exhibitors are given a couple days to pick up what they want.

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a great time celebrating Second Life's 18th Birthday! We want to thank you all for contributing your creativity to the the event. Now comes the sad point where we have to close the party, The regions will stay open thru Tuesday, July 6. Please come and pick up your exhibits July 7-8 before the regions disappear on July 9.

Again thank you for being a part of SL18B. Now let's start planning for next year!!

So if you haven't seen all the builds yet, now's your last chance, such as this zoo in SLB Amaze (44/117/23)

There are a number which are interactive and you can have fun on, like Nance Clowes' Amusements with neat rides, also at SLB Amaze (211/86/23).

I ran into Mrs. Mia Wallace (Mia Quinote) at the Burn2 Burning Man Regional  build at SL18B, which has a hidden area, "Pro tip: click that freezer door wink wink!" SLB Pizzazz (81,32,23)

One other build Mia liked was "Larry's Garage", which had links to several notable places across the Grid at SLB Incredible (110,79,23).

In SLB Sparkle (40/33/22) was "Sarah's Adventures in Second Life," a narrated tale of a child avatar's life in an SL small town.

At SLB Incredible (73,11,23) was The Emerald City, which had a tribute to Ebbe Linden.

"Let's Enjoy The Sea" had some boats to ride, SLB Stunning (146/148/24)

And of course the SL Newser's own exhibit at The exhibit is at SLB Pizzazz (187/171/23).

Be sure to see them before "The Birthday" closes down.

EOTB: SL18B Shop and Hop Applications Open, Last Day For SL18B Exhibitor And Performer Applications

For merchants wishing to take part in the Second Life 18th Birthday shopping event, now's your chance to ask. A few days ago on the official Second Life blog, Linden Lab announced they were accepting applications for the SL18B Shop and Hop event

Our annual multi-region inworld birthday shopping event is coming back this summer, and we’ve just opened up the new application form for merchants who want to participate!

The SL18B Shop & Hop event, to be held June 17th through July 1st, is the official multi-region shopping event of the 18th annual Second Life birthday celebration (SL18B). This event brings together many of the top merchants across SL for exclusive items and discounts on some of the best creations in Second Life.

Merchants wanting to take part in the event are asked to fill out a form (link). Among the guidelines:

* All items displayed and/or advertised in the store MUST be for sale at the Shop and Hop for the duration of the event.
* Merchants are required to have at least a 20% discount on ALL items, including gachas.
* Merchants are required to provide a new and exclusive, for the duration of the event, non-group gift.
* Stores are highly encouraged to limit themselves to 3 gachas. Gacha resellers will not be permitted.
* Items need to be appropriate for a moderate audience and adhere to the Linden Lab ToS.
* Content should not contain or reference political issues or figures.

The participants' set-up time is June 9-13. The Shop and Hop itself will run from June 17 to July 1.

Also, exhibitor and performer applications are no longer being accepted after today, Monday May 10. Originally, the deadline for both was Friday May 28. Applications for volunteers are still scheduled to be accepted until May 28.
