Last Day For The SL23B

Hat tip to Zada Bury. She told me about where a conga line was going on at the SL23B at the beach area, and I went over and took a picture.

Remember, this is the last day the SL23B grounds will be open to regular residents. After Midnight SL time tonight, they may be closed to people entering.

Cartoon of The Day: The Reindeer After Christmas

Taken at Club Zero Gravity. It makes sense that after their trip with Santa, and a little time to rest, the reindeer would celebrate another job well done with a party. But then what? Thinking about it, probably a little happy they have it easy compared to us working stiffs in North America.

SL Video: "I'm A Foxy Girl"

From Nydia Tungsten on Nov 18, "Sheila, Mato, Mama Gil and myself thought this would be a great song for ourselfs, and what better place to show off our Foxybess than The Happy Vixen Beach Club (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife...) I THINK it came out okay, please let us know what YOU think. Please leave a comment, we love to hear what you think!"

Cartoon of The Day: Party Gravestones

Taken at Club Zero Gravity. Among the Halloween decorations were some gravestones. Very picturesque and added to the spookiness. But the problem with a hard stone object in the middle of a dance floor is obvious, and at one point people joked about them.

Cartoon of The Day: Dance Pet

Taken at Club Zero Gravity. Gil Otaared is often seen with her "Mini Me." But besides a small cuddly companion, another reason comes to mind.

Cartoon of The Day: Watermellon Girl

Taken at Club Cutlass. Gil Otaared was sporting a watermelon look. I was thinking Torley Linden. But that wasn't the only joke I heard that night.

Cartoon of The Day: It's A Habit

Taken at the April 6 Moon Dance. Gil has a "habit" of being silly.

Cartoon of The Day: Otter Silliness

Taken at Club Xanadu. Gil Otaared in her otter avatar, taking what she does best to an "otter" extreme.

Tribute to Wednesday Addams

On Saturday January 28, Lisa Loring, the actress best known for her portrayal of Wednesday Addams in "The Addams Family" TV show in the 1960s, had died. On Monday, I saw Gil Otaared going about dressed like her, complete with "Thing" on her shoulder.

"Well, Friday I just had an idea to make a Wednesday avatar," the ringtail told me, "Then right after, Lisa Loring, the actress from the 1960s Addams Family show, died.  So it seemed fitting. Because honestly as sad as it is, it is an extremely Wednesday thing that this happened."

She told me she wouldn't mind her picture in the paper, "Make sure you get Thing's good side."

Cartoon of the Day: Dark Roleplayer

Picture from the Happy Vixen. Yes, that's a solid black avatar. So how could someone get so dark? One could think of a few things.

Cartoon of the Day: SS Minnow Dance

Taken at the Bouncing Bunny Beach Club. Not sure why Gil Otaared was waving around the life preserver with "SS Minnow" on it. But one can imagine.

Cartoon of the Day: Thanksgiving Typer

Taken at the Happy Vixen. Gil Otaared demonstrates a typing animation that had small stuffed baked turkeys (or are they chickens) floating around her. It was enough to get someone nearby hungry. This is obviously not a typer that someone on a diet would want.

Cartoon of The Day: Bacon Bikini

Taken at Club Cutlass. Gil Otaared had some unusual clothing on a couple nights. The dialogue is actually from elsewhere, but the picture I took then wasn't as good.

Cartoon of the Day: Too Much

Taken at Club Cutlass. Gil Otaared's always good for a chuckle. In this case, having come across a rather large container of Chinese-American take-out. Hopefully she had a very big discount.

Reader Submitted: Gil and the Hogweed

From Gil Otaared, when she dropped by RFL Spirit and found a huge "hogweed" plant. The picture was titled "Gil risks her life next to giant hogweed."

"I don't think it spread out of the sim it's in, SL prim vegetables usually don't.  But since it's clearly in-world, people should be on the lookout in case it starts growing on their land.  If you find one, call for professional help.  Don't try to pull it out yourself.  Don't even touch it with your bare paws.  Though it looks like a 2-3m tall giant carrot or cilantro (which it actually is), the carrot and cilantro family also includes hemlock, and its even worse cousin hogweed.  Eating even a small amount is deadly.  Even brushing against a leaf can put enough poison on your skin to leave permanent scars.  The only saving grace, the skin-contact poison requires UV rays to become fully active, so if you can stay indoors for the next month you may avoid the worst of it."

Cartoon of the Day: "On a Roll"

From Club Cutlass. Gil Otaared (and Mini-Me) had a roll of toilet paper with her that night. When I asked what it was for, I couldn't remember the reason she gave. But the Internet being the sum of what it's users put into it, some put ponies, and some put, well, you know.

Scenes From Second Life: Pony Salute to Superbowl 50

There wasn't a tribute event to the Superbowl this year that the Newser heard of. But Gil Otarred had a little salute to Superbowl 50 two years ago when the Colts beat the Panthers in what some brony fans called the "Pony Bowl."

Cartoon of the Day

Taken at Club Cutlass' "Surf's Up" party. Gil Otaared is a unique one among the Sunweavers. Behind the anthro ringtail with a ringtail pet is a mind pretty sharp when it comes to Navy history. But most of the time she'd rather pretend to be a flake, pulling stunts like these.

Team Sunbeamer "Bid Me" Results

For close to a month, Team Sunbeamers has had a number of "Bid Me" events going. Numbering ten at first, including one that was actually an auction, the number of the fundraisers was soon raised to thirteen. Finally on Friday, April 21, at 8PM, the kiosks for the events were frozen, and the amounts calculated. Team captain made an announcement of the results the following day, in the cases of events involving more than one kiosk only the amount of the winning one announced.

1. BIXYL 1100L goes Tiny Fox
2. VIDEO - 7600L Winner DUSK
3. GREASE - 700L - Goes Original AV
4. SHOCK - 1270L - Stays Wolf
5. GIL - 1250L - Goes JAILBAIT
6. PERRI - 1100L - Chocolate bunny
7. SNOWY - 5800L - Rita
8. BRANDI - 1000L - Little Mouse
9. RITA - 1200L Goes Rat
10. Christine: 1000L - Rita
11. Vicki - 1000L - Rita
12. Kacey - 1000L - Rita
13. Clover - 1000L - Rita

Of the video auction, Dusk Griswold gets to chose the theme of Nydia Tungsten's next video, as well as the dancers or actors. Some, including Rita and myself, are stuck in new avatars for a week. Though as yours truly does some work on journalism, on some occasions such as when doing interviews I'll be temporarily back in my usual avatar.

The Sunbeamer team has been described as "creeping towards Silver." In the past three weeks, the team has raised about twenty thousand Linden dollars, the team total as of when this article was written adding up to 122,700 Lindens (Totals page). .This upcoming weekend, Club Cutlass and the Happy Vixen, two clubs of the Sunweaver and Angel communities, of which most of the members of Team Sunbeamers make their home, will be a part of the Club Crawl. Future planned events include an air show, a road rally, a tribute party for the late Artistic Fimicloud, and others.

Go Relay!

One More Week For RFL Team Sunbeamer "Bid-Me" Events.

About a couple weeks ago, we reported on ten "Bid Me" events the Relay's Team Sunbeamer is holding. They are Team captain Rita Mariner's offer for others to bid her into her newbie avatar, Brandi Streusel offering others to bid her a mouse cub, Skylark Lefavre offering herself up for a date, Perri Prinz offering to go blue vixen or chocolate bunny, Perri's Xanadu support squad also offering themselves up for date auctions, Nydia Tungsten offering to do a video for the highest bidder, and then there's me taking part in a "Bid Me Tiny" in which I get shrunk down to size for a week for the first 5,000 Lindens, and an additional day for each 2,000 Lindens.

Since then, there have been three additional "Bid Me" events added. Shockwave Yareach is doing a "Bid Me Crabby." For every 3,000 Lindens raised in the "crabby" kiosk, if it beats the "stay" kiosk, the wolf will be spending a week having a "shell" of a time. Gil Otaared, Rita's partner and the owner of a Civil War ironclad in the Sunweaver Estates, is offering to stay a pony avatar for the same 3,000 Lindens a week raised (Rita calls it a "jailbait" avatar as this particular pony character is very young). And Newser writer Grease Coakes is offering to put aside his fox avatar in favor of a ringtail for one week for every 5,000 Lindens raised.

Rita told the Newser the kiosks will be up for one more week. At 8PM Wednesday April 19, the totals will be final, and the results announced.

If you want to help with the bidding head over to Club Cutlass at Sunweaver Bay (114/117/757).
