Reader Submitted Picture: Thanksgiving With The Sunweavers And Angels

From Marusame (Marusame Arai). This picture is probably from the mid to later 2010s, an inworld  Thanksgiving dinner with a number of Sunweavers and Nydia's Angels, with Shockwave Yareach playing the part of a dancing turkey.

Maru head the news of Rita's passing late, and regretted not seeing her in her later days online. She would comment, "Sometimes, a relationship can be like having a book on a table that you read a sentence or two or even full pages at a time, and over the years you keep the book open and read a few passages, it collects dust, you dust it off. Then one day you go to continue the book and it was suddenly closed and put back on the shelf, you forget the book and what page it was, but you remember enjoying it."

Cartoon of The Day: Turkey Sighting

Search for "Turkey" on Second Life Search, and what comes up isn't the bird, but the nationality. There's a number of clubs in SL aimed at Turkish residents. It's a reminder that this virtual world isn't just for Americans and Europeans, but all over. That and just because someone's from the Middle East doesn't mean they don't know how to party (some other places there are a different story).

Ark Fiction: Unhappy Thanksgiving

Officially, the game of Ark Survival Evolved is gone. The company closed down the official servers, leaving those with the game only the player-run servers or to play it single-player.  But for those who spent hour after hour on it, there are the memories. Among them, when there was the Thanksgiving event, and the "Super Turkey" that took forever to kill. So a Thansgiving joke by a friend had me thinking about this mutant bird that could easily have you for dinner, and I was inspired to come up with this piece of creative fiction.

A Very Unexpected Thanksgiving Dinner (2016)

As we get ready to sit down for Thanksgiving dinner, or perhaps lie down after chowing down, we reflect on the fun times, and perhaps the jokes about anything Thanksgiving. In 2016, Mylie Foxclaw did an amusing little tale about a Thanksgiving dinner gone wrong, one with a happy ending.

Taken at the Bouncing Bunny Beach Club. This lady was dressed up as a hunter with bow and arrow. With the high prices at the supermarket, one can imagine what she's be going after.

Fundraisers For Earthquake Relief

The earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6 was a truly devastating one. Registering 7.8 on the Richter scale, over 50,000 have been confirmed dead, mostly in Turkey. Shoddy building construction appears to be the major factor in why the death count has been so high. But this is just part of the problem. Thousands remain homeless, and there are medical worries as cold temperatures and lack of housing and food often result in disease.

Doctors Without Borders set up a donation area in TONE2 in the Ever Ever Land sim. Head onto Ever Ever Land (101/216/22) and donate what you like.

A few days ago, Mia Wallace of Burners Without Borders pointed out a fundraising party. This was at Orginia at Happy Clam Island. It was at late Saturday night February 18.

Awesome initiative!!....BWBSL supports this event!!>> Two hours of music from Turkish & Syrian producers & artists who create the music we dance to. All tips will be donated for earthquake relief to the Red Cross/Red Crescent & Doctors Without Borders. Bring your friends (& your lindens)

It was quite an enthusiastic event, and another example of helping out people around the world in real life through this virtual world.

Cartoon of the Day: Thanksgiving Typer

Taken at the Happy Vixen. Gil Otaared demonstrates a typing animation that had small stuffed baked turkeys (or are they chickens) floating around her. It was enough to get someone nearby hungry. This is obviously not a typer that someone on a diet would want.

Reader Submitted: Turkey Protestor

Taken by Clarence the Crosseyed Lion (binghamton Resident). It seems one turkey has been trying to encourage people to have something else for Thanksgiving.

Mutant Turkey Monster Prowls Montecito Bay

Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble!
Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble!
Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble!

Thanksgiving has taken a strange and scary turn in the community of Montecito Bay. There have been sightings of a huge mutant beast resembling a four-legged turkey prowling the streets. While Montecito Bay has been the source of wild tales, this one has some pictures as evidence.

The beast shown in the pictures, and eyewitness descriptions, is a quadraped about twice the size of a normal human or anthro. Most of the creature is covered in turkey feathers, including a large plume of them in the back. Only the lower back legs, which resemble that of a feline, have any hairs. On the sides are two wings which are probably too small to small for it to really fly, probably. But it would be able to glide from someplace high to the ground. The head and neck are like those of a turkey, but much larger and stronger. The beak appears sharp and with the presumed size and strength of the creature is likely capable of tearing holes into someone or taking off limbs.

The creature has supposedly be sighted following people. And there are stories about a few people whom haven't been seen for a few days. Did they go ahead out of town for Thanksgiving, or did something else happen? Supposedly it followed someone into the city's Club 86, but left the people there alone. It is unknown what it would do if it encountered someone alone. But it has been seen consuming meat. Ironically enough, it seems to have a taste for turkey legs.

A number of Montecito Bay's streets have  dim to no lights. So residents in the city are advised to avoid traveling down these streets alone at night. And should you hear "gobble-gobble-gobble" sounds that don't seem right, RUN! You just might end up some mutant turkey's Thanksgiving dinner.

Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble!
Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble!
Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble!

Stay tuned for further details.
