Alien at RFL Roos Saturday

 

In our "better late than never" category, on Saturday March 7, one of the Relay events was "Roos Saturday." It was a BYOK (Bring Your Own Kiosk) event, and if someone from another team showed up, a kiosk for their team would be rezzed.

There was the usual funnery and puns, this being a Roos event some funny Aussie songs included. And one resident was running around in an obviously inflatable "alien abjuction" costume.

It Came From Bellisseria Chat: "Scary Shark"

 

 

In a discussion about Halloween outfits, Kira Skydancer would say, "I'm trick-or-treating as a scarrry shark." Then she posted this picture of a dog in a costume that was more cutsie than scary. It got some positive remarks, "Haha! Noice!" "Sweet." "That's adorable." 

 

She would post a close-up of the avie's eyes being partly covered, "keeps running into things 'cause her hat keeps falling over her eyes. ... Spent some time being scary, needed to be cute today."

EOTB: Linden Halloween Costume Contest, 25,000 L Prize (Deadline Thursday)

 

On the official blog, Linden Lab announced a Halloween costume contest. To encourage more people to enter, they're offering a 25,000 Linden dollar prize. The catch, the deadline for submissions is a few days before Halloween, and the rules leave out some costumes.

 Unleash the costume of your dreams for a chance to win L$25K!

The Official Second Life Halloween Costume Contest is open for submissions from now until Thursday, October 28th at 8AM PDT.

Costumes will be judged on creativity and originality. Show us a look that will turn heads (180°, preferably)!

The rules on eligible costumes include that they can't be too suggestive or "unnecessarily violent," be of celebrities living or dead, be of a political nature, "promote" alcohol or tobacco or firearms, "communicates messages or images inconsistent with the positive images and good will to which we wish to associate," etc.

Spring Equinox Party Today

 

I hope you will join the residents of Bellesmere for a celebration of the Spring Equinox this Saturday, March 20!  We'll start with a Poetry Open Mic, hosted by Sabreman Carter at 11:30 AM SLT.  That will be followed by a Spring themed tea dance with DJ Vance Auste at 12:30.  There will be door prizes given out every 15 minutes, party favors for everyone, and a Grand prize for best spring costume.

Announcement: Library Costume Contest - "Past Sins"

It's not Halloween but we don't need that to dress up. Today (March 7) starts Past Sins for our story. For the duration we will keep track of who shows up as their favorite character of the story the most nights attended! Winner will receive 1500L, generously ponied up by Illya Leonov. You have to be in the library so you can be seen though.

Does not have to be the same character every time.
Can use imagination on the OCs that no one has descriptions for and name yourself one.
There are a lot of characters in the "Past Sins" story, including monsters.
The main goal is to have fun.

Tales From Outside SL: Plagued Doctor at the Furry Con

While the following story doesn't have much to do with Second Life, it does involve a resident of our virtual world. JB Raccoon told the Newser about a friend of his, who wishes for now to be known as only "The Attendee," who went to a 'con in an unusual costume. For a couple days, all went well. Then he was stopped by one of the 'con staff who had objections to some props on the outfit that hadn't been a problem before with him and with others no one was raising issues.

Schedule for "Creepy Crawl" Event

For the third year in a row, Linden Lab has organized a event on Halloween covering a number of venues, the "Creepy Crawl." The name comes from the term "bar crawl," in which a group of people visit a number of bars in a period of time, spending a little time at each one. For this Halloween-themed event, those taking part will head to several venues from 10AM to 2PM or afterwards, the list being announced by Xiola Linden on the afternoon of October 30.

10:30 AM to 11:00 AM: Bay City's Halloween Maze - North Channel (128/128/24)

11:00 AM to 11:30 AM: Dance Island - Dance Island (131/206/27)

As part of the fun, there will be a costume contest with a 5000 Linden dollar prize.

One feature new to the Creepy Crawl will be a Halloween-themed version of the Linden Snowball Fight: "The Pumpkin Fight."

In the middle of all the dancing and costume contest winning, we’ll make a stop at the old snowball fight arena  - where things have taken a twist for the twisted. Shooting pumpkins has never been more fun. That’s from noon to 1 pm (SLT) at the Pumpkin Fight Arena - but you can get some practice in before then!

So be sure to stop by for some "spook-tacular" fun.

Halloween Bash at the Happy Vixen Tonight

If you've just come back to the house after taking the kids Trick or Treating, or maybe looking for something to do between answering the kids knocking on the door, or just simply looking for Halloween fun? Then join DJ Khyra, the "Dazzlecat DJ," tonight as she plays EDM and other tunes.

The party is scheduled to start 7PM, but may start sooner if the DJ shows up early. The music should go on to 11 SL time, but will probably go on longer. The best costume gets 500 Linden dollars.
