New Year's Eve 2025

 

Many people in Second Life, perhaps most, love a good party. And New Years Eve had a number. Some places had a special twist on regularly scheduled happenings, and others were open just for this special night. Yours truly dropped by a few from Wooburn, to Caledon, to Bay City, and his own home community the Sunweavers as they bade 2025 good bye, and hello to 2026.

Announcement: New Year's Party At The Goblin Cave

 

Greetings to all! You are invited to the yearly New Years Eve Party at the Goblin Cave! The Duchy of Downs will throw a party starting at 8 PM SLT and will last till at least 1 AM SLT. Party is provided by Her Grace Cynthia Farshore and will play music region wide so you can enjoy the Christmas rides and sights before they are taken down. A ball will drop for each time zone of the continental U.S. followed with 2 minutes of fireworks till the last zone you get a full 5 minutes. Besides the dance you can enjoy Santa's Village on the highland. The Caledon wide sleigh ride awaits there too to take you on a 30 minute round trip tour of every region of Caledon! So come enjoy and if you can't stay long who cares just drop in and say Hi!!

Reader Submitted: "To The Bat - er, Goblin Cave!"

 

On Tuesday Nov. 4th a dance was held by Caledon Nights on the region Caledon Downs in the Independent State of Caledon group. The theme was Superheros and was held inside the Goblin Cave, a Community Center, that was temporally  converted into the Bat Cave. 

 

The Duchess of Downs Cynthia Farshore was the DJ with Andrea Jones owner of Caledon Nights hosting. Many came to hear tunes related to superheros of comic books, movies, TV shows, and cartoons. 

 

The Caledon Nights entertainment group conducts dances every Tuesday night at 6 pm to 8 PM SLT at various places in the Caledon regions. Notices are sent out ahead of time on Caledon group chat informing of theme and locations.

Ringing In The New Year

 

 

 On the evening of Tuesday December 31, Second Life was getting ready to ring in the new year. Among the more noted celebrations was the one at Bay City, which started at 11PM SL time. But many residents couldn't be up that late, and at best would see only the set before the event.

Thankfully, there were other locations where one could celebrate the arrival of the new year. Among them was at the Goblin Cave in Caledon Downs. 

Cynthia Farshore, the owner of the location, would play the songs for the party. 

When the clock struck nine, or Midnight on the East Coast, the dance ball would ring in the new year for that part of the country.

And outside, there were fireworks.

There were of course other New Year's Eve parties. If anyone has pictures of them, please send them in. 

And so not only is it a new year, but a new quarter century. Let's hope it brings good times.

New Year's Eve

 

 

New Year's Eve is upon us. And so that means saying goodbye to the old year of 2023 and hello to the new one of 2024. A number of places are doing so. The community of Caledon, along with friends from other communities such as the Sunweavers, will be ringing in the new year at the Goblin Cave in Caledon Downs. The party starts at 8PM SL time, and at every hour starting at 9 (12 Midnight EST).

 For the Second Life mainland (and those staying up later), one of the larger celebrations will be at Bay City. It's at the Bay City Fairgrounds, and starts at 11PM SL time, with the Prim Drop taking place at 11:59 PM, set to land right at Midnight and the start of 2024.

Come gather at the Goblin Cave on New Years Eve at 8 PM SLT to enjoy great music and watch the ball drop at each of the four time zones followed with 2 minutes of fireworks till the last zone you get a full 5 minutes. There will be a wide range of music covering various genres. Music will be DJed by the Duchess of Caledon Downs Cynthia Farshore who will take request. Also enjoy riding the Christmas Express around the region and even pay a visit to Santa on his hidden aerial abode. The Caledon wide sleigh ride awaits there too to take you on a 30 minute round trip tour of every region of Caledon! So come enjoy and if you can't stay long who cares just drop in and say Hi!! All the Christmas rides and sites will still be up until the next day January 1st so you still have time to enjoy a sleigh ride with Santa.

Announcement: Halloween On Caledon Downs

 

 You are invited to enjoy the fun of "Halloween On Caledon Downs". Ride the Ghost Train, A scary ride along haunted rails to doom, along with the return of the Ghost Hunt and Pumpkin prizes. Opening is today Oct. 10th, a bit late but the Duchess is deep in Real Life matters, you are welcome to the Opening Dance at the Goblin Cave provided by Caledon Nights live DJ tonight starting at 6pm SLT going till 8pm. Of course the theme is Halloween but you don’t have to wear costume.

The Ghost Hunt is a region wide hunt for certain ghost that appear randomly for short periods of time that you shoot with any collision (prim firing) weapon. You can use any such weapon you have. There is no sign-up needed, the person and scoring is automatically recorded and the top four scores are displayed on a post in the Goblin Cave. Ghost Hunt has linden prizes of L$1500 first place, L$1000 second, L$500, and L$250 for fourth place. The "hunting lodge" so speak is the Goblin Cave Community Center located in the center of Caledon Downs. In there is located the information panels and the totals counter. The hunt will last till the end of the Halloween Dance at the Goblin Cave on Oct 31 at 8PM SLT then the winner of the bounties will be announced. 

The Jack'o Lantern search is for 5 pumpkins deposited at certain locations about the region. Each Jack'o Lantern contains a prize delivered upon touching BUT mind you only touch once or well you'll get something scary! An example of the Jack'O lantern is displayed at the information board in the Goblin Cave. The information board will deliver the hints as to where these prize givers are.

The starting point is the Goblin Cave Community Center there you can pick up the info and hints for both the Ghost Hunt and Jack'O Lantern search. Also you can enjoy the music and dance as well as games in the lower levels. Just take the spiral stairs down.  The region is completely open and filled with sights and games.

Preparing For New Year's Eve

 

 

 2022 is winding down, and people are getting ready to celebrate. Partially for those who will be at real-life parties, Club Cutlass will be having it's New Year's Eve party a night early, tonight from 6-8 PM.

But on the big night is when the most parties are. Some places with Australian, Asian, and European residents will be celebrating early. At 8PM, the Goblin Cave at Caledon Downs will be where the Caledonians and Sunweavers will be celebrating. 

There will be other places as well, such as the Premier Business Center.

One of the last parties, but not least, is the Prim Drop at Bay City's Fairgrounds, starting at 11PM SL time, and climaxing when the big prim starts lowering down the pole at 11:59, touching down when 2023 officially arrives on the Grid.

 The Duchy of Caledon Downs invites all to the annual Halloween at the Goblin Cave Dance Monday Oct 31st starting at 8pm lasting till midnight. Costumes not needed but you may. The present ongoing Ghost Hunt will end and prizes awarded at Midnight end of dance. Music will play region wide so you can continue hunting while listening.

RFL Announcement: Sunbeamer's RFL Medieval Fun Faire 2022 This Saturday

Sunbeamer's and Roos with A Dream invite you to the Sunbeamer's RFL Medieval Fun Faire 2022

Hear Ye Hear Ye, All are invited to attend the Sunbeamers Medieval Fun Faire this Saturday May 28th, 2022 from the hours of 8am until 4pm. Come and enjoy the music and dance from the World Famous DJ Kayla and The Roos performing on stage from 10am till Noon. After a donation to the American Cancer Society you may compete in Axe throw and Archery competitions for the prizes that shall be awarded unto ye who has the highest score in each by fairs end. You may try as many times as you like. The Joust shall take place at 2pm until 3pm with a L$500 prize. Sign-up donation for the joust shall open at 8am at the kiosk located next to the joust track. For extra entertainment there is a whole region of things to find and do including a horse jump track, kissing booths, food, rope slides, fishing, boating, and in the center of a lagoon the Goblin Cave Community Center with 24 hour music and dance floor along with plenty of seating just to sit and relax.

The Caledon Downs Halloween Ghost Hunt

It's Halloween, so time for this year's spooky attraction at Caledon Downs. In the past, they've had haunted trails and a spooky shooting gallery. This year combines a bit of both with a "Ghost Hunt." A notecard about the event had the following

We are fed up with the high population of ghost that appear all across our region. Therefore we are announcing a bounty on them. There are 4 levels to achieve. The levels are for who gets the most of these ghastly specters. The rewards are for the most L$1500, 2nd most L$1000, 3rd most L$500, 4th most L$250. You may use what projectile firing weapon you like. These ghost are popping up all over Downs but only appear for a few seconds before vanishing again so you will have to watch carefully and move around.

 The "hunting lodge" so speak is the Goblin Cave Community Center located in the center of Caledon Downs. In there is located the information panels and the totals counter. The hunt will last till the end of the Halloween Dance at the Goblin Cave at 8PM SLT on Oct 29th then the winner of the bounties will be announced. As the notice says, any projectile gun can be used in the hunt. I just used an old freebie popgun. Presumably those interested in taking part know how to go in and out of mouselook. Looking around the sim, I found ghosts in various places. A few places on the sim have more concentrations than others. When hit, the ghosts say one of several various comments, "Hey, I'm already deceased!" "Dead again!", then vanish. They won't be gone long, and will soon reappear, sometimes with the sound of spooky laughter, but only for a few seconds. They still count as additional kills for score

The kill counter as stated is in the Goblin Cave, located not far from the bar counter. It lists the best several scores. Also as stated, Linden cash prizes are being offered to the four best shooters, with 1500L going to the top scorer, 1000L to second place, 500L to 4rd, and 250L for fourth. It should be noted that just because you're on the scoreboard doesn't mean you'll stay there as new hunters enter the game and those already in get higher scores. Those whom want the top prize can't relax until the contest is declared done at 8PM Thursday October 29 at the end of the Goblin Cave Halloween Dance. But the game will go on until early November 1, the morning after Halloween, for those whom want to keep on hunting ghosts.

Some New Year's Eve Events in Second Life

Second Life has no shortage of parties, and for ringing in the New Year, there were a number. From the Goblin Cave in Caledon Downs to the Fairgrounds, people either celebrated before or after going to real-life parties, or did so just in Second Life as they had more fun there than at the local bar. It was full of bright lights, cheers, and well-wishes and hopes for 2020.

Duchess Cynthia Farshore invites everyone to celebrate the coming of the 20's at the Goblin Cave! Starting tomorrow around 7 PM SLT, that's one hour till midnight east coast, on till it passes the west. Wear what you want but be fun and come styled in the 1920's. Hopefully this party no one will crash it at the end. ..but there may be some explosions!
