Rocking Sands

In Netera Landar's article for today, she steps away from Second Life and reports on a place in another virtual world.  The Wolf Territories Grid, an Opensim world, is pretty small compared to ours, just a few thousand residents. But it doesn't lack in entertainment. Among the venues is the Rocking Sands club, owned by Eagle Palmer and Anjolie Amore. So what did she have to say about the location?

Drama Libre

In her latest story, reporter Netera Landar checked out the Drama Libre club. Having been around for almost 20 years and this September will have hosted it's 1000th party, what sets this venue apart is it has a different set for each one. Netera talked to Xerxes Sismondi, a co-founder of the club how it came to be, and some of what's happened over time.

The Willows

A few weeks ago, reporter Netera Landar wrote about a Valentine's Day party at a club called the Willows. Today, her article is about the club itself, which has been around since 2012 and has events every day. She had a few words with it's owner, Faleen Renard, about what led her to create the club, and what happens here.

FogBound Blues Club

Newser reporter Netera Landar recently visited the FogBound Blues Club. Located in Blue Moon Bay, the venue is over a decade and a half old, created by Yanik Lytton and Meredith Mistwalker, and has events every day.  Netera had a few words with it's manager Saphire Jinn about how the place has changed over time, and what and who has helped make it work.

Cafe Lilardo

Friday February 6 was the grand opening of a small new club, Cafe Lilardo. The kickoff party lasted for seven hours with several DJs and attracted dozens of people. Owned by Ardo Topaz who runs it with the help of LilyBethPatterson, I would have a few words with them as the party was winding down.

Reader Submitted: Red River Saloon

Monday's have always been kind of an off day, that was until I got together with the ROOS RFL Team and they introduced me to the RED RIVER SALOON.. If you like country music, you will enjoy Monday night there, from 5 PM SLT to 6 PM SLT.

On Monday night you are treated to a real, live country singer, Gary Jonstone.. Singing isn't Gary's RL job, but he enjoys it enough to come on SL and perform for our enjoyment. Gary does accept requests and usually will sing it, if he knows it.

The RED RIVER SALOON is owned by Sienna Thor and she has been running it for almost 20 years.  Sienna is also a member of the CURE CHASERS RFL Team.

So if your a fan of country music, dancing, hooping and hollering. Then there is no more fun place on Monday night, than the RED RIVER SALOON.

Club Squeaks Closing It's Doors (Additional Info)

Earlier this month, Brandi Streusel announced on her Discord that she was having to stop her music parties at Club Squeaks.

"Due to my new job promotion, I will not be able to do my morning sets at Club Squeaks anymore. I am going to miss everyone!"

Earlier, Brandi had told people at the club that she would be having to stop the events soon.

"Feels like I've let my fans down," Brandi would say, "I was hoping it wouldn't come to this. But, such is real-life."

But this doesn't mean the end of all of Brandi's DJ sets. She still plays at Club Balance on Friday evenings from 7 to 9 PM SL time.

Club Squeaks was a small club high above Pacific Waters in the Sunweaver community. Set in a skybox, the official entrance was inside a man-sized live trap. It attracted a crowd of both American and Canadian early-risers and Europeans. There was a foam machine which resulted in occasional antics. Brandi was able to play music during her tech support job, so she was able to get online and do music for a crowd. But her promotion means that isn't an option, at least for now.

Hopefully the club will be back soon,

Bixyl Shuftan

*Addition* As it turns out, this wasn't a true closure. The club will still be playing on the few mornings Brandi doesn't have to work in real-life.

Cartoon of The Day: Turkey Sighting

Search for "Turkey" on Second Life Search, and what comes up isn't the bird, but the nationality. There's a number of clubs in SL aimed at Turkish residents. It's a reminder that this virtual world isn't just for Americans and Europeans, but all over. That and just because someone's from the Middle East doesn't mean they don't know how to party (some other places there are a different story).

Cartoon of The Day: Haircut Time?

Taken at Club Furbidden. During DJ Tantari's set, I noticed this guy in the audience. Those who know me can easily guess some a few songs I was thinking of.

The Pharmacy

There are many clubs across Second Life. But Netera Landar found one that combines the songs of today with the atmosphere of the 1920s speakeasies: The Pharmacy. She would have a few words with Pet Pinklady, the owner and manager of the venue. So what did Netera think?

"Busty Belles" Club Wrecked, But Rebuilding

A few months ago, the Newser wrote about the owner of the "Busty Belles" club, Jodi Eyre passing away. Despite her loss, the handover and continued operation of the venue went smoothly.

Talking to Frost Beam (JD013 Resident), someone on the staff with build permissions leveled the place when they weren't getting their way, "the co-founder ... nuked it, when we were waiting for them to make up there mind on a few issues." A couple days later, the situation was better, "Mostly needing the help getting stuff, like the beach back up and we have our GM working on building new rental homes. On top of the co-founder taking the building the club was using, he also took the clubs beach and all the rental houses which had some people living in them. ...  I wasn't expecting himm to take all the rentals (frown) That made me feel really bad for making people homeless.

"My GM Tiffany had to rush build the new building for the sets.  But I think we still need some for other parts on the club, like the beach and the homes." Frost was optimistic, "When a founder or co-founder up takes the building a club is in, that normally spells out the end of it. We are still here, still rockin, and always welcoming in people. I kinda of treat this place like my home, and my staff and patrons are like my family." One nearby dancer, Domino Sorbet Presley (DominoPresleyTS Resident), commented, "Yah good thing we had hurricane relief. Whether we are here or somewhere else we won't quit."

So Busty Belles won't go bust any time soon.

On a final note, later this month on the 18th, Busty Belles will host a Making Strides fundraiser, a "Pink Ribbon" event, starting at 6PM SL time.

Junkyard Blues At Midnight

A friend and I recently dropped by a classic club that's occasionally been in the paper: Junkyard Blues.

SL’s oldest blues club.. 3-time Avi Choice winner of “Favorite Blues Venue.” Traditional blues, country blues, soul blues, folk blues, blues rock.  DJs, dancing, motel, home rentals, beach, boating. Drive-in movie. Come dance with us.

While Junkyard isn't an Aussie Club, there are Australians who dance there. My friend took me to a Midnight event featuring a DJ from down under, with some other residents from there showing up, as well as a few night owls from the States. The music was a mix of older and newer tunes, with some friendly chatter. And I learned that a "Wang Dang Doodle" doesn't mean something naughty, at least not in the "Delta."

The Return of Urban Furry

A club the Newser has written about a few times in the past is coming back. On Wednesday September 3rd, Urban Furry had it's Grand ReOpening party. It started at 2PM, and was scheduled to go on to 8PM. It is owned and managed by Whiskey Ravenhurst.

Urban Furry has been in operation a few times before, Whiskey reluctantly closing it when events in his real life require his full attention. This time, he feels he is able to keep up the place indefinitely.

If the club looks familiar to some, that's because it is. Whiskey was missing the original version of the club. So he brought it back, with a few small alterations. Among the additions, a couple of framed articles from when the location was in the Newser.

For the moment, the club has no regular events. Whixkey says he should have scheduled hours in about a couple weeks, with the times being determined when interested DJs can play.

Urban Furry is at Vector Valley at (193/43/2011).

At The Bouncing Bunny Beach Club

Yesterday, I had a little time, and dropped by the Sunweaver's smaller beach club, the Bouncing Bunny Beach Club. Skylark Lefavre, aka DJ Snowy, played the tunes. The theme was "Desert," so most of us had avatars, or clothes, that matched the theme.

The BBBC has events every Sunday from 3 to 5PM and is at SunWaterThree (75/56/25).

Fourth of July at Cutlass

A number of clubs had Fourth of the July events on Friday July 4. And among them was Club Cutlass. People came decked out in red, white and blue.

DJ Perri danced on the floor while one of her alts, Kacey Carver, decked out in an American flag outfit, manned the booth.

Lots of fun was had by all.

The Happy Vixen had it's own Fourth of July party, with DJ Charlee playing some patriotic tunes. But sadly due to technical difficulties, I couldn't get any good pictures.

Club Owner Jodi Eyre Has Died

The Newser has been informed by one of her employees that Jodi Eyre, the owner and founder of the Busty Belles club has passed away. "She made everyone feel welcomed and loved," Frost Beam (JD013 Resident) told. He stated she had died in the hospital while undergoing surgery for a brain tumor, :"even though she had that and the illness, she still got on to make sure everyone was happy and felt welcomed."

Jodi had been in Second Life since 2009. Busty Belles has been around for about five years.

Valentines Party at Club Scorn

While Valentines Day was Friday February 14, some clubs would continue the fun over the weekend. One was Club Scorn, which held it's "Love and Passion" party on Saturday. The event was prom-themed, taking place on a special venue in the sim.

From 4PM to Midnight SL time, four DJs played the tunes for an audience of couples, as well as some singles, the final one being club owner Gwen Winchester herself.

And for me and my SL wife Charlee, a nice romantic time together.

Happy Valentines Day

Interview With Gwen Winchester, Co-Owner of Club Scorn

Bixyl Shuftan recently interviewed Gwen Winchester, the co-owner of Club Scorn. While Second Life has hundreds of clubs, Scorn is different, having multiple venues, a different one chosen for it's main event on Saturday. So how did Gwen get her start and how did Scorn come to be?

Read the interview in People.
