Fourth of July at Cutlass

A number of clubs had Fourth of the July events on Friday July 4. And among them was Club Cutlass. People came decked out in red, white and blue.

DJ Perri danced on the floor while one of her alts, Kacey Carver, decked out in an American flag outfit, manned the booth.

Lots of fun was had by all.

The Happy Vixen had it's own Fourth of July party, with DJ Charlee playing some patriotic tunes. But sadly due to technical difficulties, I couldn't get any good pictures.

Over 11,000 Lindens In Prizes Given Out at Happy Vixen's Fourth of July Party

Over the weekend, there were a number of Fourth of July parties from Rosehaven to Virtual Ability. But one, The Happy Vixen, was particularly generous with it's prizes. The beach club held a double event over four hours with two DJs, and 11,600 Lindens given out as cash prizes.

Hey folks! It's Independence Day in the USA, and it's time for our Fourth of July party. Come dressed in red white and blue, have a red white and blue avie, have or come as an eagle, or just wave an American flag. DJ Jazzy will be playing her "Thunder on the Beach" set with 2500 Lindens in a fishbowl contest (all can join, including staff). Be sure to set your viewer to Midnight to see the fireworks.

DJ Jazzy (Jasmine Dawn/Jasmine Knickers) played the tunes for the first two hours. She also decorated the place with a few red white and blue banners, a food stall with some sweets with red white and blue frosting, and a fireworks display that would go off at times. She would provide the initial 2500L for the first of the two contest that night, and the 2600 of the second. Club owner Nydia Tungsten would bump it up to 9000 Linden dollars. The second half of the event was DJed by DJ Maliit.

More than two dozen people would show up at the double event, some showing up after some real-life Fourth events. Instead of votes on the board, the three winners of each of the two contest were determined by the "fishbowl." Unlike normal events, this was open to the DJs and hosteses and other staff. The 9000 Linden prize of the first half was split between Kryxia Silverfall, Valkyrie McGill, and MaliitCoyote Resident. The 2600L prize for the second half was shared by Mandy Lehew (Wedge Venkman), LiskaBystrouska Resident, and BurnerBob Resident.

The Happy Vixen is the most active of the Sunweaver community clubs, with events several days each week, is a member of the FCA, and recently celebrated it's tenth anniversary. It is located at Purrfection Estates (236/219/24).

USO Show at Sacred Ground

On July 4, I went to a USO show at Sacred Ground in the Urban Style sim. Performed by "The Outsiders," this performance packed the sim, with over fifty avatars on the stage and in the audience.

From a little after 6PM to 7PM SL time, there were various performances on stage, celebrating America and taking pride in the freedoms the country has to offer. There were songs such as "Living in America," "American Saturday Night," "God Bless the U.S.A.," "Born Free" by Kid Rock, "The Star Spangled Banner," and others. One was "Dance With My Father," one performer saying, "This song is dedicated to the one man who shaped who I am today....my Dad. A ...proud WWII veteran, my dad was my biggest supporter."

Near the end, the audience was invited to hop on stage, "Please join us on stage," and many did. "Happy 4th of July! We are so glad you came out to see us! Please come back to visit Sacred Ground!" "Big thanks to all those to put this together." "Thanks for sponsoring this show, Biker and Sarrah."

Biker Sharkfin, one of the owners, called out, "Thank you everyone.  You all are awesome.   We love you all.  Thanks for coming to Sacred Ground tonight." Sarrah Spark, another owner, told the performers, "Thanks again Outsiders, you rock!"

About Homes For Our Troops
HFOT builds homes as a departure point for Veterans to rebuild their lives, and once again become highly productive members of society. Despite their life-altering injuries, many Veterans have embarked on new careers, completed their college degrees, or started families. Empowered by the freedom a mortgage-free and specially adapted home brings, these Veterans can now focus on their recovery and return to their life’s work of serving others. Many have embraced their roles as motivational speakers, sharing their messages of persevering through tragedy with groups and classrooms around the country; others take to a national platform to promote awareness of veteran suicide, homelessness and PTSD. Their incredible stories are the driving force for the work for HFOT.

Scenes from the July 4rth Weekend

In real life, the weather doesn't always cooperate when it comes to having fun on the most American of holidays, the Fourth of July. The heat may drive people indoors, and rain may ruin a good fireworks show. But in Second Life, people are free to have all kinds of red, white, and blue fun, from themed club events, to a virtual fireworks show.

See the pictures in Events.

Happy Fourth of July

It's Independence Day in the United States, and once again the Elizabeth Town sim has brought back "Summertown USA." Read more about the place in our 2013 article. Note: not everything from last year is necessarily there this time.

In Relay DAlliez, the Relayers have set up the sim as a Fourth of July celebration, with the four corners of the sim having a different look.

In the Southwest, people can party in the shadow of a Statue of Liberty build.

When I got there, the DJ herself was sporting a Lady Liberty avatar

In the southeast is a build of the Washington Monument

In the northwest of the sim is an aircraft carrier by the dock. Other nations have carriers, but no one else has the number the United States does. This one offers 7Seas fishing and a bumper boat area.

The northeast corner of Relay dAlliez has a DJ booth in the shadow of a Mount Rushmore build, a replica of the famous monument to four American Presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.

There were some red, white and blue goodies to be found. I found a red white and blue straw hat.. This girl found some strawberry, creme, and blueberry treats.

Among those there was Gemma Cleanslate, in a red, white, and blue dress.

Have a happy Fourth of July everyone.
