More St. Patrick's Fun
St. Patrick's Day brought much fun to Second Life. Besides the events mentioned yesterday, there were other goings-on. One place was Elizabeth Town, with it's "St. Patrick's Town" up and running.
Instead of looking around the shops, people were dancing and drinking beer. Sim owner Laura Liberty was there, "Are you having good St. Patrick's Day? We just are drinking and dancing all day."
Another spot was the Trotsdale pub, with had a St. Patrick's party that evening, the event publicized in the Luskwood community group, "Come on down folks, we're starting up the celebration here. We have three DJs lined up tonight, starting with our good friend Dashy!"
There was quite a mix of pony, furry, and at least one normal human avatar. Usually the Pony community frowns on alcoholic drinks, except maybe for hard cider. But an allowance was made for this particular holiday. In the short time I was there, there didn't seem to be any sign of anyone getting tipsy.
Happy Saint Patrick's Day

Valentine Town
With another holiday around the corner, the Elizabeth Town sim is back with it's look for this time of year, and the place now calling itself "Valentine Town."
The place is built in a fun style, with the trees and buildings looking like they were made for a cartoon. There's a chocolate river one can float on using a candy heart. At a pile of gumballs underneath a waterfall of colors, one can hop on and go for a ride. There are a number of stores where one can get teddy bears, jewelry, and other gifts, in addition to dresses, hot tubs, and other items for a date.
DrFran wrote about Valentine Town last year, including an interview with Laura Liberty, the owner of the sim. You can still read it (here).
And for those looking forward to Mardi Gras, there's a section of the sim decorated in the style for Fat Tuesday.

Halloween Town
The Elizabeth Town sim, which changes every holiday, has brought back "Halloween Town," which offers chills and thrills, in the form of spooky shops, and scary displays. The town is set onto a hill with visitors arriving on top and the road winding down, with a haunted house at the bottom.
One thing new is the giant demon hand that will give anyone who hops aboard an overhead tour of the city, though exactly where it will drop you, I haven't seen.
There's also a pumpkin carving contest, with a list of rules and a sample pumpkin that can be picked up. There are 7000 Lindens in prizes to be given out, with 1600 going to the best overall, and 1000 each to the "Most Creative," "Most Scary," and "Most Artistic," with 550L and 250L to 2nd and 3rd.
Tanja Resident (Tina) is the one to send the pumpkins to, and those interested have until October 30 to send one. "Several of the creators who sell at Halloween Town will be judging. The votes will be collected and tallied by Laura Liberty. The winner's names will be posted at Halloween Town on October 31st.
You will be contacted by Laura Liberty if you are a winner."

Happy Fourth of July
It's Independence Day in the United States, and once again the Elizabeth Town sim has brought back "Summertown USA." Read more about the place in our 2013 article. Note: not everything from last year is necessarily there this time.
In Relay DAlliez, the Relayers have set up the sim as a Fourth of July celebration, with the four corners of the sim having a different look.
In the Southwest, people can party in the shadow of a Statue of Liberty build.
When I got there, the DJ herself was sporting a Lady Liberty avatar
In the southeast is a build of the Washington Monument
In the northwest of the sim is an aircraft carrier by the dock. Other nations have carriers, but no one else has the number the United States does. This one offers 7Seas fishing and a bumper boat area.
The northeast corner of Relay dAlliez has a DJ booth in the shadow of a Mount Rushmore build, a replica of the famous monument to four American Presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.
There were some red, white and blue goodies to be found. I found a red white and blue straw hat.. This girl found some strawberry, creme, and blueberry treats.
Among those there was Gemma Cleanslate, in a red, white, and blue dress.
Have a happy Fourth of July everyone.

SummerTown USA
There's quite a bit to do on the Fourth of July, from the events all day at Tribute City and Areo Pines, and the beach party tonight at the newly reopened Raised Tail Resort. If you're looking for free decorations, you can get a bunch at the Corner of Revolving Time. For still more decorations, there's a location that really looks Fourth of July: SummerTown USA. While most of the decorations and clothes are for sale, there are some freebies plus there are things to do there.

Easter Weekend in Second Life
Last weekend was Easter time, and there were a number of Easter-related activities on the Grid. With the Relay For Life going on, these events were somewhat overshadowed. But they weren't forgotten. And so before the week is out, here's a few scenes of Easter-related happenings in Second Life.

Easter Town
Easter had a number of events this season. Most were simple egg hunts, and there were Easter parties. But there was one sim-sized place that was all about Easter: Easter Town. Full of cartoony holiday goodness, it was a fun place to go to.Read more in Places.
