SL22B Dragon Eggs Hunt

Besides the Swaginator Hunt at the SL22B, which we wrote about a few days ago, there's another HUD=based hunt: the Dragon Eggs Hunt.

Legends speak of ancient dragon eggs scattered across the celebration lands. Seekers who recover these relics will restore their hidden magic and earn wondrous rewards. Wear the SL22B Forgotten Eggs HUD and begin your quest through the exhibitor regions. Each egg you claim draws you deeper into the tale.

To play the game, get the HUD at one of several locations at the Second Life Birthday grounds, at tge Welcome Area, you can find it at SLB Awesome (123/103/103).

When you pick up the HUD, attach it and it appears on your upper left.

Finding eggs wasn't too difficult. Going down from the welcome area I picked some up right away. You can either walk over the eggs, or get within five feet and click on them.

There are prizes for getting so many eggs. At 20, you can get the Enchanted Book. At 50, you can get a magical ring of mushrooms. At 100, you get the "Will-o’-Wisp of Emberlight," To get the prizes, drop by the reward vendor next to where you can get the HUD.

Happy hunting.

RFL Easter Egg Hunt At The Rivers

In the Stonehaven sim at The Rivers, there's something for those

The River of Life, Relay for Life Team, created a whimsical place to come and hunt Easter Eggs but be careful when finding the eggs there may be a few rotten ones that will ruin all that is in your basket! There is even a Golden Egg and places to take pictures with your SL family. The hunt is open to everyone!

Click on the sign that says "click on for basket" next to the kiosk to get your basket. You can choose one of several colors. While the sign was saying one would get instructions, I didn't. Looking around, I did see an egg that stood out from the others when clicked on.

While there, I found a sign saying there will be a chance to get a picture with Patch Linden. The date was Friday April 7 from 1 to 3 PM.

Cartoon of The Day: Prison Jumpsuit For Eggs

Taken at Club Cutlass' "Crime and Punishment" event. Lately even with inflation in mind, egg prices have gotten outrageously high. There's even reports of them being smuggled across the Canadian border. So it looks like people could soon very well end up in the "big house" for mishandling them.

Scenes From Easter

The weekend from Friday April 15 to Sunday April 17 was a busy one in Second Life. The Bellissarians were celebrating their anniversary at their Fairgrounds. But that wasn't all. It was also Easter Weekend, so there were a number of Easter Events. While yours truly has been extra busy in real life, I was able to get a few pictures.

See the pictures in Events.

A Few Halloween Happenings

It's still early in October, but there are plenty of Halloween-related things to do in Second Life. For those who like shopping most of all, there's the "Shop and Hop" going on, with ten sims of stores to see and buy from.

Come celebrate Halloween with your favorite Second Life Creators. With sales galore and gifts for everyone! The event will run from October 1st to 31st, 2021.

The Destinations Guide had a list of the sims. On the Linden blog, the post about the shopping event had a list of participating sellers with a SLURL next to each one. Or you can just head here: Tinseled (154/128/52)

There's also some haunted areas to visit. One featured in Second Life Destinations was "Hauntings."

Moody, ghostly, creepy, and fun, Hauntings is another delightful venue in Old Town. Once a charming and peaceful spot in rural America, when the events began happening, folks moved away. No cars stopped at the motel; the farm lies abandoned. What happened here? What went on in that house? No-one knows. But once a year, the spirits of those who were innocent walk, looking for treats.

To get to this spooky place, head over to Adagio Breeze (199/59/3603). The place is a little scary, though not as nerve wracking as some places. Oh, and don't worry about the giant bat, too much.

For those in the mood for a hunt to get lots of prizes, one place to go is the Furry Fashion Halloween area. They have one every year. This year, one looks around a foggy fantasy-themed place, with a few signs of witches and pirates, for dragon eggs. There are thirty to be found, as well as a few decoys that give nothing. Flying is turned off, but all places can be reached by jumping, "think jump puzzles from Guild Wars2 (Blame Fortunas and Minty for that!)."

It is recommended that you set your environment to foggy or Midnight, and people are asked not to give hints to others. The entrance, which has some backstory, is at Furry (83/115/4007).

Oh, and Furry Fashion has a Halloween photo contest. All pictures have to be taken in the Halloween area, "Submissions must be put in notecard form into the contest application box by the ghost ship in the Halloween area - Photos must be full perm or linked to your twitter/flickr. Don't forget to add your legacy SL name so we know who you are!" You can send up to five pictures, and the contest lasts until November 3. First prize is 5000 Lindens, with 2500L for second, and 1000L for third.

Stay tuned for more reports of Halloween locations and events.

"Heroes of Evolution: Richard Dawkins"

Friday February 12

9 to 10 AM SL time

For the first time in this lecture series, I will discuss a still living icon of evolution. Richard Dawkins has had an immense impact in his lifetime on the advancement of evolutionary theory as well as science advocacy. His energy and commitment to science are still ongoing today. The talk will discuss his scientific work as well as highlight some of his activities advocating for rational thinking. The talk will consist of three sections:

"Rare Preservation of a Mother Crocodilian With Eggs"

Saturday February 13

10 to 11 AM SL time

Modern crocodilians exhibit parental care for their eggs during development, as do modern birds. However, given that pterosaurs (flying reptiles), which are more closely related to birds than crocodilians seem to have not exhibited parental care, this calls into question whether or not more ancient crocodilians and dinosaurs had parental care or not. A remarkably well-preserved fossil adult crocodilian with eggs helps resolve some of these issues by showing this behavior of egg-guarding likely extending back about 45 million years.

Easter Scenes

Taken by Gemma Cleanslate  at her Philosophy class, or her "Easter Bunny Class." as she called it.

From the Easter event at Club Zero Gravity on Wednesday April 8. While DJ Snowbuns was "hopping down the bunny trail" of tunes, chocolate eggs were raining from the ceiling.

Shockwave's Easter Maze

Every Easter (real-life permitting), Shockwave Yareach has always had a holiday-themed game for his fellow Sunweavers, and their friends. This year, it's a maze in which you have to find all the Easter eggs inside. The place is located high above the Sunweaver Eclipse sim.

Going to the entrance, you'll see a chocolate bunny. Clicking it, you'll get a basket, which you wear or attach. There's also a set of instructions.

When you got this notecard, you also recieved "EasterBasket012".  You must wear this during the egg hunt.  When you find an egg, simply touch it and the egg will appear in your basket.  It's just that simple.  You also get a copy of the egg that you can put out in your home or in your garden -- pretty.

But... you have to FIND them all first.  And thats not so easy.

First of all, they are in a 120m x 120m maze.  Aaaand, they move around the sim!

And did I mention, the eggs are small and hard to spot?

Not all is lost though, brave egg chaser!  Because most of the sides of the maze are not walled in.  This means, you can look in and try to find a route to eggs within the maze.  You don't have to make your way through the entire maze to reach an egg -- only part of it.  Work as a team, one person guiding and the other hunting!  Get all 14 eggs and win a special prize!

Good luck and most of all, have fun!!

Taking a look myself, it didn't take too long to find three eggs. Obviously though, the more you find, the harder the remainder will be to locate. Shockwave didn't say how long the maze will be up, though it should still be around up to a few days after Easter.

Linden Lab's Sping Egg Hunt

For those who like games, notably hunts, Linden Lab just announced "a most egg-cellent adventure." They're calling it their "Spring Egg Hunt."

Spring is in full swing, and that means the birds are singing, the bees are buzzing, and those Glytches are … well glytching!

We've scattered special eggs around various Regions throughout Second Life. Your task is to find the eggs, follow the clues inside, and if you make it to the end of the hunt, you’ll earn an exclusive prize!

This Spring hunt is only here for a week - so be sure to get hunting by April 24th, 2019 - or this prize will be lost forever.

The first clue is at Hartyshire (129/122/23), the hub location of the Glytches game. But you won't be hunting any of the little critters. Instead  you'll be looking for an egg. It isn't too hard to find, and when you do, you'll get a clue to the next location. Do not go directly there from the SURL. Instead, go to the sim via Portal Park. Once you find the egg and clue there, you can go ahead and directly teleport to the rest of the locations given to you. You should have little trouble finding the eggs, at least once everything rezzes as once the egg was among the last items to appear.

The final clue, you get not only an egg but a gift package. So what's in the package? You get a chair, a garden shed, a couple benches, and a number of smaller, decorative, items. If you're not into gardening or home decor, oh well, it was a fun little hunt.

The Egg Hunt ends on April 24, 2019.

Easter Town

Easter is almost here. For some, the holiday is primarily a religious one. But both the devout and the secular have a love of chocolate, bunnies, bonnets, and other examples of fun also associated with the day. And at Laura Liberty's Easter Town, you'll find plenty of fun things to do. Besides the shopping, including gachas, there's also a balloon ride, a peeps race, an egg decorating contest with a prize, interactive builds, and of course lots of hidden Easter eggs to find.

Announcement: Sunweaver Easter Hunt 2019 - Dungeons and Dragon's Eggs

This Easter, from Mar14 through the week after Easter, the Sunweavers are holding their annual Easter egg hunt.  14 eggs wait for you to  find them.  Just wear the Easter basket you get from the chocolate bunny at the entrance, and touch the eggs as you find them.  Then they appear in the basket.  Simple, right?

oh yes -- simple.  Except this year they are DRAGON eggs, and are hidden in the catacombs of SunWaterTwo.

But not to worry.  This years' egg hunt doesn't have traps and monsters. This years... next year, who knows.  But what good is a dungeon crawl without treasure?

There are two prizes.  The first 3 people to find all 14 Easter eggs in the dungeons, win 1000L apeice.  And anyone finding all of them, gets a special prize with a steampunk flair that you can't buy in any store (yet.)

The eggs are cleverly hidden.  But they aren't unfindable.  But of course, there are some rules:

* the eggs will never be underwater
* the eggs will never be outside the dungeons
* the eggs will never be inside something -- you can see it without
opening anything.

Basically they will all be where you can see them just standing there, walking about the catacombs.

Easter Town

Easter is almost here. And that means Easter Town is back. Built by Laura Liberty, the location appears in Second Life every year. One can shop at the various stores, but you don't need money to enjoy th place with it's brightly colored themed scenery, freebies, a peep race, and of course Easter eggs and bunnies. Gemma Cleanslate was there, and here's her story.

2016 Easter Bunny Trail Still Up Until After Today

For those whom still want a little more Easter-related fun for the Relay, Team Dreamin' in Purple still has their 2016 Easter Bunny Trail up, at least for the moment. After today, it's up to the kids as to how long it remains around. There was an announcement in the Relay group yesterday reminding people it was still there.

Come see me, the Easter Bunny, at the 2016 Easter bunny Trail for RFL! For any donation to the kiosk you can have your picture taken with me! After today, I head home to prepare for next Easter! If you haven't done the trail yet, its last official day is tomorrow, so be sure and get out there and find your eggs, and get your free prizes!

Dropping by Aquamarine Island (220, 76, 22), the Easter Bunny was there with one of the kids on the team, the holiday critter saying, "this event is free, with donations encouraged, if you'd like to explore (smile) many eggs hidden, lots to see. (grin) Thank you for taking my photo!" I asked how long the eggs would remain up, and he answered, "The event is open through tomorrow officially, just depends on when the kids have time to tear it down after that, hehe! ... They are on vacation with their family in SL, in Greece, so this will probably be here 'till the weekend."

A notecard sent to me by the child stated this was the fifth Bunny Trail, and one could find the following:

- 22 hidden eggs on our NEW Easter bunny paw trail!
- explore the gnome garden, unicorn sanctuary, teddy bear picnic and more!
- Daily photo sessions with the Easter Bunny for donation, Egg Decorating photo op, and even a petting zoo with food pellets for donation!

All donations go to Relay for Life of second life, in support of the American Cancer Society! Photo sessions for th Easter Bunny take place around 5pm each day
