Christmas Places: Rebel Yell and Christmas Town

Christmas is coming, and Gemma Cleanslate continues her exploration across Second Life of holiday-themed locations. In her latest article, she looks at two, Rebel Yell and Christmas Town. At Rovaniemi Lapland's Rebel Yell, there's plenty to see and plenty to do, with winter sports and Santa's village. Christmas Town by Laura Liberty has some old favorites, but also new activities, and you can shop for both Xmas and New Years.

Christmas Town

Gemma Cleanslate's latest stop in her exploration of Christmas places took her to an old favorite: Christmas Town in the Townies sim. Build by Laura Liberty, the location has entertained people for ten years. Looking around, Gemma found some things that were much the same. But there was much that was new, notably a tribute to Christmas movies.

Halloween Town And Moochies

Gemma Cleanslate has been on the lookout for more Halloween themed places, and places now sporting a spooky look for the season. In her article for today, her travels took her to two such places. The first was an old favorite: Halloween Town in the Townies sim. It has shops with many items for the holiday up for sale, a pumpkin-carving contest, and a haunted house with lots of scenes. Next was Moochies, which is celebrating with it's wooded area offering shadowy areas for travellers to brave when the sun goes down, and has a contest of it's own.

But both the devout and the secular have a love of chocolate, bunnies, bonnets, and other examples of fun also associated with the day. And at Laura Liberty's Easter Town, you'll find plenty of fun things to do. Besides the shopping, including gachas, there's also a balloon ride, a peeps race, an egg decorating contest with a prize, interactive builds, and of course lots of hidden Easter eggs to find.

St. Patrick's Town

This upcoming Sunday, it'll be "th' day o th' wearin' o' th' green" : St. Patricks Day. For those who can't wait to have a little fun on the day everyone is a little bit Irish, or you want to grab a few outfits and other things to get ready for when it is, one place to go is St. Patrick's Town. Set in Laura Liberty's Townies sim, Gemma Cleanslate recently gave the place a look. While some of the sim is for shopping areas to buy things, there's fun to be had for free from Celtic music to dancing, beer-themed dunking booths, and a gold mine mining cart game.

Valentine Town and Isle of View

Valentines Day is this week. Among the places to go in the theme of the holiday about love and romance, two of the best known are Valentine Town and the Isle of View. Valentine Town appears only at this time of year in the Townies sim, owned and designed by Laura Liberty. The Isle of View was designed and made by Linden Lab's moles, and run by Linden Lab. Gemma Cleanslate and Deaflegacy gave the places a visit, and here's what they wrote about them.

Christmas Town

Gemma has found many Christmas-themed places this month. For her last one before the big day tomorrow, she writes about Laura Liberty's "Christmas Town." Located in the Townies sim, the location was a little later than usual in being set up. But it has a number of attractions that will satisfy both longtime fans and those seeing it for the first time. This includes making your own Christmas card.

Halloween Town

Second Life has a number of Halloween-themed places every October. One of the most familiar is "Halloween Town." The themed town of Laura Liberty's "Townies" sim, the place is more playfully spooky than scary. While the place has a lot shops, there are other things to do, such as a pumpkin decorating contest and the haunted house.

Valentine Town

Valentines Day is almost here. And a place in Second Life that appears every year to help residents get in the mood for it is Valentine Town. Brought to Second Life by Laura Liberty, this year's town has a whole new look, one that required a little help. Bixyl Shuftan went to the place at Townies to both get a look at what's new, and with some of the people there, including one cheerful and unusual character.

Easter Town

Easter is almost here. And that means Easter Town is back. For every major holiday, Laura Liberty's Townies sim has a new look. And at this time of year, the sim becomes a tribute to the Easter Bunny and chocolate eggs. There you can ride a balloon, play several games and/or buy a few, take part in an egg-decorating contest, and more.

St. Patrick's Town

With Valentines Day and Mardi Gras over, it's time for another holiday: St. Patrick's Day. And so, the Townies sim owned by Laura Liberty has once again changed it's look. It is now the home of "St. Patrick's Town.

The shops are the main thing here. But there's free hats one can pick up, a rainbow slide ride, coins one can fly around on, danSt. Patricks, Celtic, and beer-themed music over the radio, and lots and lots of beer. There's even a dunking booth in which the dunkee ends up not in water, but swimming in beer.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Townies Presents Valentine and Mardi Gras Towns

Townies is back. The sim that takes on a new look every major holiday is now ready for February. But this time the sim is the home of two towns, not just one. Step into Valentine Town, with it's rivers of chocolate and plenty of shops with something special for your special someone. Next head over to Mardi Gras Town, where it's New Orleans partying up for "Fat Tuesday." Gemma Cleanslate took a look at the sim to see both places.

Halloween Town (2015)

The place that changes it's look every holiday, Townies, is once again showing it's spooky side with "Halloween Town." Like last year, Gemma went over to take a look. The place is much as it was then, offering the same "family-friendly" scares as last year. So she offers the same review this year.

St. Patrick's Town

It's St. Patrick's Day. And to help celebrate the holiday, Laura Liberty is back with her latest holiday themed town: "St. Patrick's Town" in Mango Bay. Second Life Newser stopped by to look around and see what there was to look at, and do.

Mardi Gras Town

With today being "Fat Tuesday," there are a few places having events. Among them is the Townies sim, owned by Laura Liberty, with it's annual appearance of "Mardi Gras Town." While the bulk of the sim is decorated for Valentines Day, one corner is just for the other holiday this week.

With the place done up in purple and green, there were a number of people dancing around to the Jazz music in the radio stream. Most wore just street clothes, but some ladies were dressed in Carnival fashion. For those who wanted to shop, there were some Mardi-Gras themed items in a store, alongside some some costumes. I never did find a jar full of beads to grab, then throw.

For those who don't know, Mardi Gras, often called Carnival, got it's start in Medieval times when people held festivals to eat up their richer foods as the consuming of them was forbidden under Lent. Although the event is celebrated more in Catholic countries, New Orleans is famous for it's Mardi Gras celebrations.

Christmas Town

Christmas time is here, and among the places redoing themselves to be in theme to the holiday is the sim noted for adopting the look of most every holiday of the year. Christmas Town has arrived in the Townies sim. DrFran wrote about the place a few years ago, so I dropped by to see what's changed and what hasn't.

Owned and built by Laura Liberty, much of the place is a village of shops, where you can get lots of Christmas-themed items such as outfits and house decorations. but the most recognizable structure is the ice castle in the southern part of the sim.

Down underground, accessible by a stairway in the northern part of the sim near a stage, is a small slide where one can take a sled down.

Want to make a Christmas card? There was something that offered to help you make a musical one.

For those who like shopping gachas, there was a Christmas themed one.

There was a chair for Santa, but he wasn't around in any of the times I dropped by.

A fun sim to drop by for a little Christmas shopping and fun.

Halloween Town

Good news for "Townies." After a few months of her land being offline, Laura Liberty's holiday themed town area is back with "Halloween Town." Here, there are a number of places to shop for costumes, avatars, decorations, and other Halloween-themed goodies. Shopping not your thing? There's also a pumpkin carving contest with Linden prizes, and a haunted house to brave, if you dare.
