Tempura Island Closing

Some sad news. After fourteen years in operation, The Tempura Island sim is closing. The announcement was given in the sim's group.

After such a long journey of 14 years traveling together in Second life, we made hard decision to close TEMPURA sim.

When opening TEMPURA we could never imagined that will last for so long time. TEMPURA touched so many hearts and bring amazing memories to everyone and for that we are deeply glad.

With humbleness and huge grateful we Thank you, to each of you who ever admired, loved and healed,
at TEMPURA.

Tempura is a SIM of love! We say Bye to you, but it's a Welcoming of a new beginning.

May Buddha full your hearts with love and happiness!

Dropping by, I found the area quite picturesque. While it is Japanese-owned, not everything is Japanese-themed. Tempura's largest structure is the palace in the north, which has a large dance ballroom, and a number of places and private rooms for couples. The south had a wooded area, partially green and partially autumn red and orange. In between was a circle of meditation pillows and a tai-chi practice area, both of which were being used when I dropped by at close to midnight SL time. There's plenty to explore, including a few hidden areas.

The sim does have a blog, http://japan-tempura.blogspot.com/, which has a description at the beginning of how things got started in 2008

No date has been given for the sim's closing.

To drop by, head to http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/tempura%20island/128/39/33 .

Rayven Wolfmoon's Wild Wolves Club

After a break from activity, Rayven Wolfmoon (Rayven Avalira) is back as a venue owner in Second Life. Several years ago, she was the owner of the Primal Passions club, which was known for it's free-spirited parties and that the building was a well-designed castle. Now the castle is back under a new name, the Wild Wolves Club. There have been some changes, such as a breedable market in the vicinity. But like before the club offers the same free-spirited atmosphere in which people are encouraged to relax and release their wild side.

Disney Enchanted Adventures

For almost a hundred years, Disney has been producing a number of stories that captured the imaginations of kids and adults alike. Starting with Disneyland in California, it soon began opening theme parks around the world. Gemma Cleanslate came across a place in Second Life inspired by these parks: Enchanted Adventures. She decided to have a look around. So what did she find?

SL Video: Cetatea Poenari in Second Life

(Click here if the video fails to play)

From Erik Mondrian on October 11, "By request, a music video of Cetatea Poenari, the Second Life home of the Drakul family. Built by Vlad Drakul-Dragonash and Nazaire Dragonash and named after a ruined Romanian castle that was once occupied by the real-life Vlad III Dracula (also known as Vlad the Impaler), Cetatea Poenari defies description and seems to stretch far beyond the limits imposed by its virtual borders. From the Valley of Horses and Arefu Prison to The Slaughtered Lamb pub and Snagov Monastery—and with the magnificent castle itself keeping watch over all from above—this is a region with many different paths and hidden places for the curious traveler to find. Thanks again to Vlad, Nazaire, Rain, and the entire Drakul family for asking me to film here!"

SL Video: "Mont Saint Michel In Second Life"

(Click here if the video fails to play)

Posted by Richardus Rainmaker in October 2015. A cool video of Mont Saint Michel. But instead of shutting down "at the end of September," the build would remain up for another year before vanishing. Shortly afterwards, it returned due to Linden Lab's intervention in November 2016, only the third time they'd intervened to keep a virtual build up.

Halloweentown and Creation's Halloween Festival

Gemma Cleanslate's search for Halloween happenings took her to two places. One was Halloweentown in the Badest sim. The place had Halloween decor one could grab, as well as rides in the woods and a haunted mansion. The other was Creations Park, which is having it's Season's Festival. There, one can find a pumpkin hunt, a haunted castle, and more.

The Museum of Wizardry at Coniston

So what does one think when the terms "magic" and "wizard" come to mind? Dungeons and Dragons? Harry Potter? At Coniston, Salient Wizard offers to tell you at the "Museum of Wizardry," without the "hocus pocus" of Hollywood, "presented in an educational format for the common person." Klaus Bereznyak went there to look around, and talk to the man behind it.

Mouse Hole Manor Is Back

In February, Mouse Hole Manor, the home of Nydia Tungsten and her partner Brandi Streusel, was taken down. In place of the castle, which had been up for some years, went a more modern home that was up for a few months until it came down when Nydia and Cynthia Farshore exchanged sims. In Pacific Waters, Nydia had a smaller home on an island for a time. But this week, she and Brandi made the decision to bring back the Manor.

"Well, we have been talking about it," Nydia told the Newser, "We kept having problems with the other ones. Now we are finding out a lot of others missed it as well, and the phrase 'Local Icon' kept kicking around in the back of my head. But most of all, we feel, this is home."

Nydia is still setting things up, so anyone dropping by in the next few days will see some bare rooms. While nothing is set in stone, except perhaps for the castle walls, there will be some differences between Mouse Hole Manor now and from it's previous days. It's days as a place for business and planning meetings for the Angels group are pretty much over as those are done in the nearby office building in the southeastern part of Pacific Waters. The theater had been removed to make the "Float-In Theater" to the east. What there will be more of are games for Nydia, Brandi, and her friends, such as "Greedy." The island the Manor sits on has more trees on it, thinly wooded. Nydia says the place will be likely be the setting for special event such as weddings in the future. For now though, Nydia is happy to have her castle back, "Feels like home."

New Look For The Furry Fashion Lounge

The last time I checked out the Furry Fashion Lounge, the place resembled a haunted castle. The place was a bit creepy, which suggests they may be getting for Halloween early. But it wasn't deterring the crowd. Going in, the music was packed and the music was great.

Cartoon of the Day

Taken at the "Afternoon With The Lindens" at The Castle Home and Garden. Looks like Tommy Linden is trying out the different positions on the kissing booth. At least it'll save his avatar a trip to the chiropractor.

More On The Castle Home and Garden Contest

By Gemma Cleanslate

I am having a wonderful time helping out at the Castle Home and Garden Contest! I am really glad I am not a judge!! So many beautiful builds grace the sims. Walking in the gardens of winter, summer and underwater is great fun.

Here are a few pictures of the gardens and castle details you will see .

Climbing around in the castles  looking for hidden rooms can be very interesting. Since the event takes place on two levels the TP pads are helpful for moving from sim to sim. There is a hunt going on as you move through the shops and lots of goodies for sale.

The main stage has events every day and you can find the times here.  http://chgrfl.org/schedule/
The live music has been so enjoyable and the visitors are loving it!

This is the landing point at the main stage where you can pick up the guide book and find the tp pad to all the sims take a look at the maps there too showing the two levels.

Yesterday, the Relay for Life spinoff event, the Castle, Home, and Garden Contest, officially began. Although taking place a little late this year, with it's time being after the Relay Weekend this means the event will get a little more attention from Relayers who miss the excitement and fun from earlier this month. Gemma Cleanslate has been getting a behind the scenes look at the show.

Mouse Hole Manor to Come Down

For a few years in the Sunweaver and Angel Estates, Nydia Tungsten and Brandi Streusel's castle home, Mouse Hole Manor in Sunlight Bay, has been one of the most highly recognized structures in the community. The place has served as the setting of weddings, music videos, group meetings, and a hangout for those of her Angels group. But the castle will soon be gone. Nydia told her group that the structure would soon be coming down.

For those whom want to see the castle before it fades away, Nydia's stated anyone who might have left something at the castle has a few more days to claim it. After than, Mouse Hole Manor comes down, and a new more modern structure takes it's place.
