The BelliHub
For months, we have been working behind the scenes to provide all of Bellisseria (and Second Life in general) a place where they can go to find information regarding Bellisseria, meet up with residents living in Bellisseria and have all of their questions answered.
Today, we are pleased to release the BelliHub!

International "Talk Like A Pirate Day" (Updated)
Michael (Bubblesort Triskaidekaphobia): This is outside Bellisseria, but I thought somebody here might know what this is... I found an island pirate cove, with a massive hoard of gold, off the NW coast of Satori The NW coast of Satori has a lot of cool islands to explore. Anyway, when I click on the one treasure chest I got a gleaming pirates sword. I got something similar when clicking on a treasure chest in some tunnels in a rainforest once... is this part of a bigger game that I don't know about, or is it just a cool thing the lindens leave lying around? My notice said Naughty Mole gave it to me.
Checking out the island at Orlop (86,154,23), I found myself on an island with a huge skull in the center, filled with gold coins. Clicking on it, I got the golden sword that was being talked about, as well as a crown when clicking elsewhere. I got a script warning message stating the code was outdated. Oh well, it's an interesting momento for Pirate Day.

SL Video: Synthesizing Pixels at Escapades Island
(Click here if the video does not play)
From Erik Mondrian on June 28, " Built by the legendary Loki Eliot, Escapades Island is a Second Life destination that is definitely not to be missed (https://secondlife.com/destination/es...), with fun activities and many hidden places to discover—not to mention a full roster of events that are held throughout the year. One of these is the annual Anniversary Weekend, for which Loki designed a go-kart track that encircles the region. After recently filming a flyover of the track (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBoyt...) as well as a video of the meadow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xT_T...), I decided to try altering those two clips in my video editor, applying various effects & adding music. This is the end result."

Announcement: This Saturday at The Science Circle - "Sustainable Energy Science Lab"
"Sustainable Energy Science Lab"
Saturday June 13
10 AM to 11 AM SL time
Solar Sierra and Windy Schor represent EnergyTeachers.org in Second Life, building virtual objects for exploring real-life technologies, and holding meetings and discussions between educators and interested people.
Windy uses the somewhat realistic wind that blows through Second Life regions to develop methods for gathering statistics about wind, and for modeling wind power systems.
Solar builds models of solar cookers, heliostats, daylighting, and photovoltaic systems.
Windy and Solar hope to offer EnergyTeachers.org’s Green Dollhouse Challenge in Second Life. The Green Dollhouse Challenge is an event where a jury of building professionals and educators judge models of sustainable buildings on their merits rather than competitively.
Windy and Solar will offer a tour of our Sustainable Energy Science Lab in Second Life on Etopia Island
We’ll look at ways scripting objects in Second Life models the way light, wind, and water work for us, and how data-visualization exposes the ways experts and the public can analyze these resources and turn understanding into fun and practical technologies from power to cooking to art to architecture.
Tour led by Shawn Reeves

Bellisseria Land Expansion To South
It's been a few months since we last talked about new areas in the Bellisseria continent. When I last dropped by in very early December, I hadn't noticed any major changes. But it seems since then, the Moles have been very busy.
The land that was originally planned for the south has finally been filled in. But the terraforming didn't stop there. The Moles made a huge extension to the south, dividing it from the north and central lands with a river. When the first land of the new continent was placed, while it was enabled to sail from the continent of Jeogeot to the south to it, it took a lot of ocean. Now just a couple sims separate the two continents.
Besides the continental expansion, a number of islands have also been placed. Some of these are for houseboats, including another "pickle" island. And there are various smaller islands which were placed for scenery.
Looking around, the new land not only had houses and houseboats, but some already had people inside. Looks like at least some of this new area has already been open for Premium residents to grab.
So what's next for Bellisseria? Hard to say. The Lab could easily make a new continent and/or houseboat islands to it's east. But the area has already attracted a number of residents whom have been banding together into a community. The new continent has been Linden Lab's biggest success this year. What they'll try for 2020, it'll be interesting to see.

Frolicking Deer Cay
Today, the Newser takes a look at Frolicking Deer Cay. Built and owned by Natasha Petrichor, the place is made to look like a tourist spot in the Bahamas. We had a few words with Natasha about the location, and how it came to be.

Update on Bellisseria For Mid-August 2019
It's been about a year since the "SSP" landmass first appeared on the map. In April, the real new continent appeared on the Grid, and became known as Bellisseria. Since then, the moles have continued to work on and expand both the land, and build the Linden homes on them. In early June came an island that would become it's community center. Since then, the work on Bellisseria continues. More of the continent's southeast landmass has been built, and a second "pickle" island has been added off the coast to the southeast, to go with the "squishy pickle" to the northeast.
And as the land has been developed, the roads, piers, and Linden Homes aren't too far behind. The land ones initially appear as green shapes, then take familiar form with green fields around them and orange squares on top. There's also what looks like coding over the homes, both the land homes and houseboats.
When someone asked on the forums how long does it take the Lab to make the homes, Quartz Linden answered:
Each region in Bellissaria is unique, designed and laid out individually. When we make new regions to add to Bellissaria, we start with a completely new one, flat as pool table and completely featureless. Each one needs terraforming and dividing up into parcels, and roads laying, and slips for the boats, and then decorating with trees, flowers, rocks, fences and whatever else for the parcels and then some general landscaping on the remaining LDPW land plus some community areas building here and there.
That's all done by teams of LDPW Moles, working together, and pretty
much flat out. It involves several passes, and several QA inspections
at different stages in the process. That's what takes the time, and
it's because the terraforming and decorating is done with such care and
attention to detail that the regions look as good as they do. ... everything we put out on a region is made and scripted by LDPW Moles, and those of us who work primarily in content creation for Bellissaria rather than setting up the regions are already well advanced into creating items for future themes.
There was one build on the southeast island that got my attention. In the middle of the place were three towers that bore a resemblance to a nuclear reactor. Just what the towers are for can only be speculated on at this point.
As the land continues to grow, the people making the continent their virtual home and their friends have formed a community that continues to do well. It's not just human avatars, but also furs, ferals, and others. The Bellisserians channel on Discord has numerous entries every day, and brings attention to places such as the Belli's Blues Cafe (left). Creative residents have been making add-ons to Linden Homes, such as pools, porches, sheds, and more.Daniel Voyager predicted the continent's land would be completed before Spring 2020. He very well may be right. We'll report more on the continent as things develop.

Note: I tried getting a good picture of the map showing Bellisseria in relation to nearby continents. But something kept the sims from view when smaller than shown on the picture, and even then many of the sims would vanish after a few seconds.

New Sims, Linden Home Areas, Offshore Island, Added to Bellisseria
For those whom have been anxiously awaiting the next batch of Linden homes, your wait may soon be over. Ten new sims have been added to the Bellisseria continent, six of which hadn't appeared on the map yet as of the writing of this article.
Even though the lower six weren't visible on the map yet, they were visible and accessible in-avatar, including some dock areas for houseboats.
In the four sims that were visible on the map, there were some houseboats set up, though not quite ready to be claimed.
Some places for land-based Linden Homes had what looked like Monopoly house tokens. Perhaps these were to mark where real homes were to go.
When some houseboat Linden Homes were released last month, the 709 houses were snapped up in just 27 minutes. Since then however, Linden Lab has announced the price of Premium accounts, which are necessary to claim a Linden Home, will go up significantly later this month. It will be interesting to see how much of an effect the price hike has on how fast the homes are claimed.
Addition: As of 10 AM SL time, the remainder of the new sims have appeared on the map, but not the island yet.

New Linden Homes Continent Update
For those wanting to scout the new continent Bellisseria, the new Linden Homes land, by air or boat, there's a small island that recently appeared. The island, which is in the Coral Waters sim, is just off the larger landmass, and has an airfield on it that takes up most of the length. It also has a dock with a visible rezz area. It was made by the moles of the Linden Department of Public Works.
Besides landing planes there, one can also rezz them. But the spot can be identified only by the lack of the "no-rezz" symbol on one's viewer. It's at Coral Waters (109/139/22)
For those whom have been trying to get one of the new Linden Homes, a forum post by Patch Linden stated they were all gone within 48 hours. The good news, he promises additional homes "in the very near future." Presumably, this means the rest of the continent, or at least more of it, will soon be moved into positioned, and the homes placed on it.

SL Video: "Mont Saint Michel In Second Life"
(Click here if the video fails to play)
Posted by Richardus Rainmaker in October 2015. A cool video of Mont Saint Michel. But instead of shutting down "at the end of September," the build would remain up for another year before vanishing. Shortly afterwards, it returned due to Linden Lab's intervention in November 2016, only the third time they'd intervened to keep a virtual build up.

Volcanic Activity in Sunweaver Estates
With the Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii continuing to flow lava after over 40 days, it was just the luck of the Sunweaver Estates that it would have a volcanic eruption of it's own. Shockwave Yareach warned the residents in group chat about the lava flow just after 7PM on the night of June 19, "Dear Sunweavers. As you no doubt know, SunWaterThree is a Volcanic island. And as is happening in Hawaii, the Eastern side is experiencing an eruption right now. But please remember: Volcanos are not barbeques. Please do not roast weenies or marshmallows over the lava as it has a tendancy to splatter and more importantly, burn the marshmallows. Thank you."
With the marshmallow roasting jokes followed by those of roasting wieners, Cynthia Farshore spoke up, "Just logged on ... What the hell you guys doing THIS time?!" Shockwave answered, "Volcanic problems in SunwaterThree. I knew that rubber stopper wasn't gonna hold." "I told you rubber will burn." "Like the phrase 'burn rubber,'" Grease Coakes commented, "I'd hate to reroll a new SL account due to death by lava." Zorro Wuramunga suggested, "You could try throwing a virgin in it. Where is Vixie?" But Vixie was nowhere to be found.
It is unknown how long the Sunwater Three volcano will be erupting. For any Second Life residents in the area, you're free to approach the volcano at your own risk. For those in real life in or about to vacation in Hawaii, approaching a real volcano is something best left to experts as invisible toxic gasses are far more likely to do you in than hot lava.

Curei's Floating Gallery
Second Life has many art exhibitions. But how many are on a floating island? Deaflegacy found out about one named Curei's Floating Gallery. She dropped by, had a few words with it's artist, Curei Resident, and took a look around.
