Solar Sierra and Windy Schor represent EnergyTeachers.org in Second Life, building virtual objects for exploring real-life technologies, and holding meetings and discussions between educators and interested people.

Windy uses the somewhat realistic wind that blows through Second Life regions to develop methods for gathering statistics about wind, and for modeling wind power systems.

Solar builds models of solar cookers, heliostats, daylighting, and photovoltaic systems.

Windy and Solar hope to offer EnergyTeachers.org’s Green Dollhouse Challenge in Second Life. The Green Dollhouse Challenge is an event where a jury of building professionals and educators judge models of sustainable buildings on their merits rather than competitively.

Windy and Solar will offer a tour of our Sustainable Energy Science Lab in Second Life on Etopia Island

We’ll look at ways scripting objects in Second Life models the way light, wind, and water work for us, and how data-visualization exposes the ways experts and the public can analyze these resources and turn understanding into fun and practical technologies from power to cooking to art to architecture.

Title: Liberalism vs. Conservatism in Art? – Art History part.3

I presented twice about Art History before.

I and comet Morigi installated The Modern Museum as a collaboration platform for finding cross-disciplinary relation in modern history. And motoko Moonwall expanded my idea, introduced 2nd axis, “Left eye’s Art” vs. “Right eye’s Art” in her Art history museum but she died by lung cancer in 2015 before completion.

She introduced “Mannerism/ Baroque” vs “Classicism/ Renaissance”, combined two Art historians, Heinrich Wolflin and Gustav Hocke, but both studies are based mainly on Eastern Art and not enough for finding relations between Eastern world and Western world.

So I proposed new hypothesis, memory of “Hunting (migratory) life in glacial period” vs. “Agricultural (Sedentary) life in Holocene”.

It is interesting that several researchers in evolutionary psychology, cognitive neuroscience, etc. have similar idea for “Liberalism” vs “Conservatism” in politics.

"Recent Developments in Solar Cells- Perovskites"

Harvesting energy from sunlight continues to be an active area of research which has the potential to benefit society at large. The best silicon-based solar cells have efficiencies around 25% after decades of research. Recently, solar cells based on materials which adopt a structure analogous to the mineral perovskite have shown the potential for high-efficiency conversion of light to electricity. This talk will illustrate the basics of how a solar cell works, why the perovskite structure seems to work for this application, and the various pros and cons of the particular varieties of perovskite used in such cells.

The object of the study in this paper is a method of conversion of dissipated environment heat energy. We plan to calculate parameters of an energy converter, operating according to this method. The objective of the work is determination of principles of conversion of environmental heat energy mechanically, by means of compression-decompression of an elastic working body, and to design an autonomous fuel-less power source.

Cartoon of the Day



In the computer age, people have become extra-busy, and sleeping less. So to keep sleepiness at bay, caffeine and energy drinks have become a must for people in real life. Reflected in Second Life, the machines are mainly for decoration, the cans they dispense for show.

But just suppose someone in the Grid came up with a vending machine that dispensed cans of which holding one cut down on one's lag-time. He'd make a killing.
