Rocking Sands

In Netera Landar's article for today, she steps away from Second Life and reports on a place in another virtual world.  The Wolf Territories Grid, an Opensim world, is pretty small compared to ours, just a few thousand residents. But it doesn't lack in entertainment. Among the venues is the Rocking Sands club, owned by Eagle Palmer and Anjolie Amore. So what did she have to say about the location?

Shropshire

Gemma Cleanslate was recently at a place in Second Life based on a real one: Shropshire. Based on a small community in England founded in Viking times, there's plenty of horse-related activities, as well as roleplay, homes one can live in, and more. Gemma had a chat with it's owners, Jenni Jones (Pixie8615) and Stefan Jones (Skilledavatar), as well as having a good look around.

Linden Home Camping Area Appears in Bellisseria

Remember the Linden Home campers that were up on display at the Second Life Birthday this year? Well, some were finally made available for people to claim. A number of sims have been added to southern Bellisseria. But these are different than areas made earlier.

Some of the trailers looked unclaimed or ready to be moved into, either they actually were unclaimed (rare for a Linden Home), or someone did and hadn't moved in yet.

Others had signs that they were claimed. And there were a variety of camping homes available. There was even an electrical outlet pole next to each.

The scenery of the park area was well-detailed too, with dirt roads and railroads.  Of the latter, I found rail bridges, as well as railroad car rezz stations, water towers, and signal lights.

There were streams in some sims. In others, rivers. One sim had a large lake area. The Linden Moles are still at work in developing the new continent. And this new area is definitely worth a look, even if you have no intention of getting a Linden Home.

Reader Submitted: Game Review - Farm Simulator 17

Farming is one of the oldest occupations, and the one that allowed the development of civilization. Once, most people were farmers. Today in developed countries, only a handful of the people are needed to grow everyone's food. While farming's a small part of many games, there have been a few in which it's the main point. "Farm Simulator 17" by Astragon Entertainment and Excalibur Publishing is the second most recent of a series of games of the name that over time have sold more than fifteen million combined. Among those playing it is Rita Mariner. She recently sent the Newser a story about the game and how to play it.

Reader Submitted: A Little Treasure, Calas Galadhon Park's Glanduin

One location the Newser goes back to cover time to time is Calas Galadhon Park. Created by Tymus Tenk and Truck Meredith, the park offers several sims of detailed scenery that is not static but regularly changed so it's not the same place for too long. Today's article about the location was made not by one of our staff, but from a reader: Alysabelle. In her reader submission, she describes the latest look of the Glanduin sim, that of a country farmhouse in the countryside.

Down South

Kelly BloodyKitty writes today about a new club in the area she used to work at: "Down South." This country-themed club in the Heracles sim has the rustic look of a converted barn. Kelly dropped by to take an in-depth look.

The Crazy Horse Saloon

Bloodykitty's latest article about places across Second Life is a bit on the country side of things. Here, she writes about the "Crazy Horse Saloon." No, there's no picture of the Lakota chief, nor are there any mentally disturbed equines, just a mechanical bull. What you'll find there is music, especially country music, and parties.
