RFL: The Sunbeamer Camp

The Hopefest has started, and the Relay sims are open to all on the Relay teams, not just those on build teams. And the Newser is now free to reveal the Sunbeamer camp at RFL Celebrate. The work was done by Cynthia Farshore, Shockwave Yareach, Snowbuns (Skylark Lefavre), and Rita Mariner.

As before, there is the Memorial Garden, located in the back. There are various personalities whom have died of cancer over the years from Humphey Bogart to Roger Moore to Don Adams, to Jim Varney. This year, noted talk show host Rush Limbaugh joins the list. And as always, there's a space for Artistic Fimicloud, a noted member of the Passionate Redheads (the precursor to the Sunbeamers).

What's different this year, "and now for something completely different," is "The Prince and The Spot Game." To play the game, get the bracelet from the giver at the front of the camp, then head to the starting point. What follows is an interactive tale of a prince whom finds a spot on his face that he hadn't noticed before. The plot has a Monty-Pythonesque tone to it. As you proceed, you make choices. Make the wrong choice however, and you won't so much as get a chance to say "not dead yet."

As of the writing of this article, Team Sunbeamers has raised over 817,000 Linden dollars. Can they hit one million (and make a certain fox live up to a commitment)?

Go Sunbeamers! Go Relay!

Sunbeamer Fundraiser Update

While the recent air show by the Sunbeamers and the Relaystock in which they took part have made news, there have been a couple other fundraisers of theirs. Earlier this month, DJ Snowbuns' (Skylark Lefavre) "Bid Me" event concluded. It ended at her event at the BBBC. Among the six choices, all had gotten at least some money. But the most popular for the bidders was the Red Panda avatar, known by some as the "Wah." The total raised was almost 17,600 Linden dollars.

And the bids are in for Snowbuns' six-choice "Bid Me" event. And the results are:

Stay White Bunny : 2,350 L
Go Cheetah       : 1,087 L
Go Equine        :   250 L
Go Lilac Bunny   :   250 L
Go Pink Fox      :   250 L
Go Red Panda     :13,400 L

           Total :17,587 L

Snowy goes Red Panda for five weeks. More than a month of "Panda-modium"

"Wah, wah, waaaaahhhhhh ..."

A few days ago, the Sunbeamer's second date auction came to a close. This time, Snowbuns was on the other end of things as she had the winning bid for the volunteer, Matt Carlton. The winning bid was 1200 Linden dollars. This fundraiser was also at the BBBC.

And the date auction with Matt Carlton at the BBBC club is over. The winner is Snowy Brandy Lefavre (Skylark Lefavre).

The Sunbeamers have recently passed the 600,000 L mark, and as of the writing of this article have raised a total of 635,958 Linden dollars.

Go Sunbeamers! Go Relay!

DJ Snowbuns' "Bid Me" Team Sunbeamers Event

It was just a few days ago that the Relay for Life's Sunbeamer team concluded several "Bid Me" events. But as they were ending, another was starting. DJ Snowbuns (Skylark Lefavre) has volunteered for her own Bid Me. This one has five options besides leaving her as her usual white rabbit self.

The Sunbeamers have a new "Bid Me" event. This time, Snowbuns is putting her looks on the line, and there's more than one option to change her into. The event has six kiosks: cheetah, equine (horse), lilac bunny, pink fox, red panda, and of course the default for those wanting to keep her as is. For every 2500 Linden dollars, rounded down, donated into the winning kiosk, Snowy has to spend a week as the appearance for that one. That is, unless it's the default that wins. The kiosks are at the BBBC club in SunWaterThree. The fundraiser goes on to Sunday May 2, and the results made final at 5PM.

Snowbuns' fundraiser has six kiosks for six options available. From left to right, the kiosks are default/white bunny, cheetah, equine (pony), liliac bunny, pink vixen, and red panda. The pink vixen is included in memory of Artistic Fimicloud, whom the Sunbeamers fondly remember from the days of the Passionate Redheads. Like most of the Bid Me events this year, Snowbuns will take on the look of the winning kiosk for one week for every 2500 Linden dollars donated in that particular one, rounded down. For instance, 7499 Lindens donated in the winning kiosk would mean spending two weeks in the look it represented, while 7501 would mean three weeks. That is, unless the default kiosk comes out on top.

The six kiosks are at the Bouncing Bunny Beach Club, and will be open to bids until Sunday May 2. After the event there, in which DJ Snowbuns herself will be playing the music for, at 5PM SL time the results will be made final and the results announced soon afterwards.

So which of the six options will come out on top? You be the judge.

Go Sunbeamers! Go Relay!

Sunweaver Community Goings-On

By Bixyl Shuftan

There's been some things going on in the Sunweaver community. With the Relay season having started, much of it is about Team Sunbeamers. This includes the team making Platinum rank on day one, the  "Bid Me Panda" and "Bid Me Purple" events,  and the Moon Dance (more on that later). But there's more going on.

Not long ago, the community's main club, Club Cutlass, had a night in which the double contest had seven winners instead of just two. On Wednesday February 24, it happened again.

[19:45] Jenni Greenfield: VOTING IS NOW OVER. TIME FOR TONIGHTS 'B' WINNERS. GL ALL!.
[19:45] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Perri Prinz won L$83!
[19:45] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: LiskaBystrouska Resident won L$83!
[19:45] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Dusk Griswold won L$83!
[19:45] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Contest is over! Congrats to the following winners: Perri Prinz, LiskaBystrouska Resident, Dusk Griswold
[19:45] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Spooked Dreamscape won L$83!
[19:45] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: RECoyote Mindes won L$83!
[19:45] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Zorro Wuramunga won L$83!
[19:45] [KittyKode] ContestBoard shouts: Contest is over! Congrats to the following winners: Spooked Dreamscape, RECoyote Mindes, Zorro Wuramunga
[19:45] Crystal Sabre (CrystalAmber69 Resident): Congrats !!
[19:45] Kylee Gracemount: Congratulations !
[19:45] Zorro Wuramunga: 6!
[19:45] òᴥó Mr.Fox da'Alenfey òᴥó (Spooked Dreamscape): :o
[19:45] òᴥó Mr.Fox da'Alenfey òᴥó (Spooked Dreamscape): Thanks
[19:46] Jenni Greenfield: CONGRATS TO....... ALL OF OUR WINNERS!
[19:46] LiskaBystrouska Resident: Two three-ways
[19:46] Rita Mariner: wow 3 way on males and females

So for both the men's and women's boards, it was a double triple-play that night, or a six-way depending how you look at it, and another contest for the books.

At Sunweaver Space, Snowbuns (Skylark Lefavre) was up to a bit of funnery when she rezzed a huge fedora on a friend's house, knowing it would soon be seen. She then took it down, but the friend liked it and wanted it back. So Snowy placed it where it was.

Guess one could call it "Hats off to a house, or maybe not."

A little of the good-natured funnery that goes on around the community.

SL Video: "Exploring the Halloween Haunt In Second Life"

From Panda Jenn on October 16, "I explored the Happy Vixen's 'Halloween Haunt' for the first time. Credit goes to Jasmine Dawn for creating this spooktastic experience, and to the owner of the Happy Vixen, Nydia Tungsten. The club is also managed by Snowbuns (Skylark Lefavre) and Bixyl, who has written a rather informative article on this long-standing tradition (here).

"lf you'd like to experience it for yourself, just head on over to Purrfection Estates (236/219/24). Be safe and happy haunting!"

Scenes From Second Life: GTFO Game Tugging Along

Remember the "Get The Freight Out" game that was a big hit last year? To those who don't know, it's a HUD-based game in which one uses a compatible vehicle to ship frieght over land, sea, or air from one destination in Second Life to another. For successful runs, players get experience points to level up as well as in-game cash. While the points and cash are certainly an incentive, for many players however, the best thing is the journey as they see many places in Second Life they otherwise wouldn't, some they've never seen before.

Among those who've been playing the game is co-manger of the Happy Vixen, Skylark "Snowbuns" Lefavre. She prefers shipping by sea. In the past, she used some sleek and fast watercraft. So it was something of a surprise when she recently got this tugboat for the game, which comes with a barge that it can push around. She and her first mate Nikkita invited me to sit around on one of their shipping runs.

Compared to some of the other boats they've used, the tug isn't very sleek or glamorous. And it's steering can be very slow. But it gets the job done. On this run, Snowy and Nikki made their run in time and got their in-game currency.

Along the way, they saw another tugboat going about. It was the same kind as theirs, with the barge in operation. So it seems not only does the game still have some other players, but this particular water craft seems to "tug" the interest of others.

Reader Submitted: "Save Your Internet"

From Snowbuns (Skylark Lefavre). Looking up what this Chibi Noodle Dragon's tag meant, she cane across (https://saveyourinternet.eu/act/). Last September, I had written about the proposed European Union legislation that would mean crippling censorship for the Internet in the countries that passed it, and possibly those countries being blocked from Second Life. Seems the vote is today.
