RFL Sunbeamers: Bid Me Ringtail Results

The results of what are likely to be the last of the Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers Bid Me fundraisers are in. "Bid Me Ringtail" concluded on Saturday May 23, at 8PM SL time.:

Stay Foxy: 350L

Go Ringtail: 19,000

Six weeks as a ringtail (when not covering the news or representing the Newser). Somebody must really want a second ringtail who puns around the clubs. ;-)

So it looks like for a month and a half, when not doing Newser duties, yours truly will be having "ring around the tail.

And, It's Trump

Yesterday was Election Day, and following a long campaign with some historic twists and turns, it was now up to the voters to decide the outcome of the Presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. While it was expected that the outcome would take at least a few days to resolve, to the surprise of many (myself included), late into the night it was becoming increasingly clear Trump was going to be the winner. He gave a speech thanking those who voted for him. As of now, there has been no comment from Harris yet.

Looking around, Learning VirtualÄ“ had a small exhibit on it's ground floor (above). There was also a Harris Campaign HQ in Star Valley. The place was full of American flags and campaign posters, and a globe that had been turned upside down.

On Discord and Facebook, there were a number of cheers from Trump fans, "tears of joy!" And a number of less than happy comments from Harris supporters, "I'm going to hide in my room until it's over." From both, there were people praying to God, asking that all be well with the country.

Obviously for those interested in politics, there will be a lot of chatter over the next few days, and weeks. But for others, they're just glad it's over and looking forward to when talk will turn to other subjects.

RFL Sunbeamers "Bid Me Pink" And "Bid Me Tricolor Fox" Results

On Saturday May 18, Rita Mariner, the captain of the Relay for Life's team Sunbeamers announced the results of two "Bid Me" fundraisers. They were "Bid Me Pink" for Brian (BrianL61 Landar) and "Bid Me Pink, Blue, and White/Tricolor Fox", for Snowbuns (Skylark Lefavre).

Results of Snowy's Bid Me:

Changing Snowy to Tri-Color Fox

Keep Snowy, as is : 50L

Change to 3 coolor Fox:  12,400L

Snowy goes 3 color for 4 weeks, May 10 to June 7th

Results of Brian's Bid Me

Bid Me Brian PNK and with tutu.

Keep Brian as is:  50L

Turn Brian PINK, with top hat and tutu: 16,550L

Brian goes Pink, etc, for 1 month, until June 7th

Both showed their new looks, for the time being, at the Relaystock on Saturday. Brian made a few jokes about his appearance, "Look at what they did to me."

Currently, the Sunbeamers are Emerald ranked in fundraising among the teams, with a total of 1,084,000 Linden dollars collected this year so far. And there will be one more event planned later this month, then the Relay Weekend.

Sunbeamer "Bid Me" Update: "Bid Me Otter" and "Bid Me Purple"

The Relay for Life Team Sunbeamers has had some good successes. With the Air Show and Medieval Fun Fest events, done with Roos With A Dream, the team was catapulted to Sapphire rank fundraising. But helping the team were the "Bid Me" events going on. On Saturday May 6, three were concluded, the "Bid Me Bunny," "Bid Me Panda," and "Bid Me Skunk" events.

Here are the totals for the three BIDD MES that ended tonight.
LISKA - Stay Fox -  100L
             Go Skunk -= 14,100L

Liska goes SKUNK for 3 WEEKS

 BIXYL - Stay Fox - 50L
             Go Bunny - 14,100L

Bixyl goes Bunny for 4 weeks

CHARLEE - Stay Human - 500L
                   Go Panda - 12,000L

CHARLEE goes Panda for 6 weeks

So this means that yours truly, when not doing obvious Newser work or at special appearances like the upcoming Newser anniversary party, will be dealing with carrot jokes for about a month. Usually it will me in the mesh bunny that Charlee helped me make after the Bid Me started. Charlee will have to deal with comments about Pandaren jokes and flirts for a month and a half. For Liska, she's showing a little creativity in her new skunk form, dressing up like Luskwood founder Michi Lumin.

But as most Relayers "otter" know, this is not the end of the Bid Me events. There's a couple more. They are Skylark "Snowy" Lefavre's "Bid Me Otter," and Mattie Carlton's "Bid Me Purple."

Like most other Bid Me fundraisers, Bid Me Otter has two kiosks. For those wanting to give Snowy a taste for fish, they donate to the otter kiosk on the right. For those wanting her to stay a bunny, they chip in to the default kiosk on the left. For every 3500 Linden dollars, rounded down, in the right kiosks at the end of the fundraiser, Snowy is stuck as a "rudderbutt" for a week. For instance, if 6999 L is raised at the end, she would need to stay in her new form for a week. If 7000 Lindens are raised, It's "otter chaos" for her for two weeks. And if more is raised in the "stay bunny" kiosk, she stays one.

For Mattie's "Bid Me Purple," the idea came to her as she was going about the shops at the Fairelands recently, some of the items going to make a fairy-winged purple kitsune, "It's a 100% unique avatar built for Relay for Life. And all of it was pretty much purchased at fantasy Fair." Like Snowy's Bid Me, there's a change kiosk on the right, and a default kiosk on the left. For every 2000 Linden dollars raised in the purple kiosk, rounded down, Mattie assumes the form of her violet nine-tailed fox for a week. That is, if the amount there is greater than the default kiosk.

Both Bid Me fundraisers are at Club Cutlass. Snowy's event ends on Saturday May 20 at 8PM following the close of the party there. Mattie's event ends on  Saturday May 27, also at 8PM.

RFL Sunbeamers Bid Me Results (Round 1)

Last month, the Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers started three "Bid Me" fundraisers. On Saturday April 1, two of them concluded. those for team captain Rita Mariner and DJ Snowbuns (Skylark Lefavre) and the results posted by Rita the following day.

RESULTS FROM OUR FIRST BID MES.

RITA
Stay Bunny - 50L
Go PINK -5001L

Looks like I go PINK for a week.

SNOWY:
Stay Bunny - 100L
Go Fennec - 20,600L

Snowwy goes Fennec for 5 weeks
April 1 to May 6

There is currently one "Bid Me" still ongoing, Cynthia Farshore's "Bid Me Ruth." It concludes Saturday April 8 at 8 PM SL time as the party at Club Cutlass concludes.

As of the writing of this article, the "Sunnies" have raised over 517,000 Linden dollars, in Jade rank and in the top ten teams.

More "Bid Me" events to soon follow.

"Bid the Lindens Bald" Results

Yesterday in the Relaystock 2021 sim was the "Bid the Lindens Bald" party. For a couple hours, Lindens and Relayers mixed it up in the crowded northeast corner of the sim with over fifty avatars. Six teams each made up of a group of Lindens (or Moles) and one of the Relay teams competed for donations with the promise that the one coming up with the least amount would get shaved.

There were various over-the-top promises, "Team 4 promises to make all bills disappear if they win!" "ave The Moles!!!  No Lag for a Year!   Donate to Team 6."

The Newser wasn't able to be there at the time the final totals, and who got the haircuts, were announced. But we did get the results from Trader Whiplash.

Team 1    165,272 L (Seekers of Hope)
Team 2      99,150 L (The Original Sinners)
Team 3      53,101 L (Team Invictus)
Team 4    296,336 L (Roos With A Dream, Patch and Grumpity Linden)
Team 5    118,040 L (Cure Chasers)
Team 6    108,470 L  (SHB Gems, Mole team)

The combined total was 840,369 L or $3,461 US Dollars. There were also 77,250 L worth of Linden bears sold, "The first ever animesh Linden Bear." Three teams also moved up a fundraising rank, "Seekers, Roos, Invictus all moved up one level."

So it seems Vanessa, Evie, Obi, Simon, Dakota, and Kreide Linden ended up with a shave. With the two furry Lindens, no word yet on how much the barber decided to take off.

Go Relay!

RFL Sunbeamers: 600K Reached, "Bid Me" Results

Friday May 15 saw the Sunbeamer's "Under the Sea" event at the "Aquarium" venue made for special events such as this. A number of people showed up for the party, music played by DJ Snowbuns, including a number outside the team. As it was a multiteam event, two others showed up, Meli's Maniacs and Soul Sisters n Family, whom got over 5000 Lindens each at the fundraiser. The Sunbeamers got much more, getting the team total past 600,000 Linden dollars.

As of the writing of this article, the team has raised over 607,00 Linden dollars. The Sunbeamers will also be having their "Moon Dance" event tonight, and plan to take part in a multi-team club crawl this weekend.

Also, on Saturday May 16, the results of what will probably be the last of the "Bid Me" events were announced by Rita Mariner. The volunteer, Zorro Wuramunga, will be quiet for a while.

BID ME RESULTS - ZORRO GOES MUTE

ZORRO: Stays normal:  0L
                Goes MUTE:      11,151L

Zorro goes MUTE for 4 WEEKS, till, JUNE 13th.  This MUTE apples to OPEN CHAT Only, He may still IM, if he wishes. Such as making a musical request.

"What does the fox say?" In Zorro's case, nothing for a month.

RFL Sunbeamer Nydia Tungsten's "Bid Me" Nets Over 70,000 Lindens

Nydia Tungsten's "Bid Me" event this month for the Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers was expected to bring in a good amount of Lindens. But the final total was a surprise to all.

Nydia herself expected that most would donate into the "skunk" kiosk. But then team captain (and self-described booty bandit) Rita Mariner started dumping cash in the bunny one. An unknown number then responded by donating to the raccoon/rabbit hybrid, presumably fans of her "Switched Destinies" novel. And so a race was on. While all the kiosks got some cash, the bunny and the raccoon/rabbit hybrid were getting thousands each.

Finally came the Saturday night party at Club Cutlass, where the kiosks were. Things were looking dicey for Nydia, whom remarked in one of her groups, "I have 15 min. until I am a bunny for two months (laughter). So any last minute bids will have to be done now." Some more went into the bunny and hybrid kiosks with the bunny the higher of the two. But two people, who shall remain anonymous, donated enough money into the default, or "stay fox", kiosk at the last minute for it to take the lead. And at the close, Rita would announce the final total.

Stay Fox     - 32,510 L
Skunkette - 410 L
Nydia -         - 14,201 L
Blue Bun     - 22,700 L
Purple Fox  - 110 L
Human          - 300 L

GRAND TOTAL: 70,231 L

Nydia stays Nydia

Presumably to make Rita feel a little better, Nydia would change to her bunny avatar anyway, though just for a little while. But with so much cash raised, putting the team past 360,000 Lindens raised, she wasn't complaining. And Nydia was a bit relieved she wasn't having to spend many weeks in a different look.

At 70,231 Linden dollars raised, this was the most successful single "Bid Me" event done by Team Sunbeamers in it's history. It's also the only recent one the default kiosk won out and the volunteer didn't need to change, possibly the only one. In June 2011, a "Bid Me Human" event with Rita Mariner netted almost 75,000 Lindens for the Passionate Redheads team, the precursor team to the Sunbeamers.

With the Sunbeamer Air Show this Saturday April 25, the team has high hopes of raising more money to pass the 400,000 Linden barrier, and then 500,000 and Jade rank.

Announcement From The Creator of Hangars Liquides

It was late last month that the Hangars Liquides cyberpunk city sims, which were in danger of closing weeks ago, were declared safe by creator and owner Djehan Kidd. Since then, the crowdfunder continued to take in more money, as of the writing of this article, it's gone up to over $4000 USD raised. Djehan would also invite several of her supporters over for a picture (she invited me to join in when I dropped by to take one of my own).

Yesterday on August 4, Djehan offered the following statement in the Hangars group, saying she was going to take a short break, thanking her supporters again, and talked a little about how the perks offered to those who donated the most would be given out.

Hello everyone,

The fundraiser stopped, we raised EUR 3682.
Minus the fees taken by the various intermediaries (indiegogo, banks, etc) the "Estimated Upcoming Disbursement" is of €3,157.00 EUR.

However this is enough to pay Linden Lab now, so we are undergoing administrative work the next few days to proceed to the transfers under our government recognized 501 C status, all our activities are monitored and the wire transfer will be made from a bank account that is thoroughly AML-KYC verified by the bank and indiegogo too.

Most people who made donations sent me messages that they donated to the non profit organization to save the city and don't want to ask for more than just me keeping the city online and running. But I intend to do anything I can, all benefactors will get special gifts, including my next commercial project release (which is what I stopped working on and I will resume work very soon, hopefully) and I will make a special group for the Hangars Liquides benefactors that will give special rights like rez rights within the city to create their own immersive environment.

Please note that if you are a builder or a scripter, texture artist, etc, who gave to the fundraiser I will be more than happy to provide you with a special creator space as part of the mission of the non profit to help create, promote and diffuse any type of art, we always did this, for instance with JC Hill, DIVE, KROVA, N3k0T3ch, and more. We will create more gallery or studio spaces too, for the artists present already you know who you are (smile). All other creators can feel free to contact me, whether they gave to the fundraiser or not, we will allocate spaces for free as much as sims resources go, like we always did.

I have put all my work on hold to save the city. Staying on the computer 15 hours a day 7 days a week since a month at possibly the timezones of the entire planet all at once (right before it was only 10 hours a day and 5 hours a day the weekend, for my normal work, and I could sleep at normal night time too).

Please bear with me as we are now finalizing all this, afterwards I will need to take a few days off for obvious health reasons, to avoid any possible burnout and eventually be able to resume working on my actual project that is not part of the non profit and pays for RL food, bills and taxes.

I could be able to keep going at that pace but I am an intensive worker with a long experience now and I know that if I don't take a few days off, it will threaten my health, both physical and mental. So next week I will probably go away from computer and home for the week, I will enable the IM to email option of course. My laptop's screen is completely broken so I will not be able to access SL for a few days.

As far as the future goes, I am very confident and I think that I will be able to keep the city running. What happened now was a downtime, I think everyone has them, so there you go, me too. This is only a transitional time, and I know that things are going to get back on track, and rather fast.

If everything goes well, as planned, all the benefactors will always keep privileges at HL in the future. I have been so touched and humbled, and you know, working for a non profit, you have to be wired this way, in the brain, and this is how I am.

Anyways now you have a better look of the intensity of the efforts made behind the scenes in order to build all these things, from scratch in both the financial and artistic aspects, from zero.

Please for people who want to claim their perks note that the 3 HANGARS LIQUIDES regions are NPO regions (hangars liquides, hangars liquides south, hangars liquides north), China and cell aren't NPO status, the rentals on China and cell are used to have these two regions pay for themselves, I can't offer perks on these regions because then the problem will reverse itself, the NPO sims will be paid for while the 2 homesteads wont anymore and they cost 3120 USD per year too.

So the perks if you want to claim yours will be on the 3 HL regions as creative spaces, not on cell or china as simple rentals.

Have a nice day everyone and so rest assured even if I take a few days off next week Ill be back fairly fast.

Djehan

This may or may not be the last big announcement concerning Hangar's recent crisis. And there will need to be efforts in the future to keep the sims funded. But for now, Djehan will be taking a needed rest.

CDS Election Results

Last week, the elections in the Confederation of Democratic Simulators took place. With the Chancellor Samara Barzane (Kyoko) running unopposed, the only contest was for the six people running for five open seats in the Representative Assembly. On Saturday May 18, Callipygian Christensen announced the results in a group announcement, and on the forums.

As  a member of the SC, and manager of these election polls, I would like to thank all the candidates who placed their names on the ballot and offered to serve.

The successful candidates,  forming the next RA, will be:

Em Warden
Lyubov
Laura Azalee
Rosie Gray and
MadmaxSoulLover.

Twenty four (24) ballots were cast representing only 37.5% of eligible voters.

Congratulations to the winners.

RFL Team Sunbeamers "Bid Me" Results

Earlier this month, Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers started two more of it's "Bid Me" events. WolfSinger SilverShadow (WolfSinger Fluffball) volunteered for "Bid Me Bunny." Team Captain Rita Mariner put her appearance on the line as well with "Bid Me To The Dogs."

The four kiosks were at Club Cutlass for people to donate to, having until Friday May 17 at 8PM to do so. Shortly after time was up, the results were made public in a group announcement.

WOLFSINGER

WOLF - 50L
BUNNY - 13,010L - 4 weeks as a rabbit

RITA

BUNNY - 1065L
DOG - 6,025L   - 2 weeks as a dog

So far, Rita's been taking her new look in stride, cracking a few dog jokes here and there. But Rita having a reputation as a tough bunny, so far no one's talking about putting her on a leash. As for "Bunnysinger," so far no comment from the DJ whom will now have to deal with "hare-raising" puns.

With these "Bid Me" events done, and the Relaystock over, the team is looking towards the Relay Weekend, a few weeks away. There may or may not be one more event. But at Platinum level fundraising, it can only be considered a successful season for "The Little Team That Could."

Go Relay!

RFL Team Sunbeamers Members "Subject To Change" Due to "Bid Me" Results

When the results of Team Sunbeamers' last three "Bid Me" fundraiser events were calculated last Friday, two of the volunteers, Shockwave Yareach and Cynthia Farshore, were out of town. Both are back, and when they showed up at Club Cutlass last night, they were sporting their new looks. For the next few weeks, they will be each other's respective avatar type, Shockwave a goat and Cynthia a wolfess.  "Nobody use the teleporters, except one at a time," Shockwave mused. Cynthia had the title "Subject to Change" over her name, commenting this felt like a bigger change from when she was a fox last year.

The "Bid Me" time periods for Shockwave and Cynthia, as well as Liska Fuchs and yours truly, end on April 19. Rita Mariner, whom is stuck as a pink bunny only until April 5, may do another "Bid Me" soon. As of now, the Relay team has raised over 89,000 Linden dollars.

Latest RFL Team Sunbeamer "Bid Me" Event Results

The latest three "Bid Me" events of the Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers are done. Together, they've raised 23,001 Linden dollars for the team. The team total is over 88,000 Lindens, and well on it's way to the Gold.

The bids were closed on Friday March 29 at 8PM SL time at the end of Club Cutlass' party that night, and an announcement made by team captain Rita Mariner shortly afterwards.

Beamers:  The current BID MEs have ended and here are the totals.

RITA:
Bunny:  0L
Pink Bunny: 5001L.  I go pink for a week, due to the evil, nasty, vicious Bixyl, since that is what he picked.

SHOCKWAVE:
Wolf: 50L
Goat: 9000L, so goes goat for 3 weeks

CYNTHIA
Goat: 50L
Wolf: 9000L so goes WOLF for 3 weeks

Yes, a certain, usually foxy, reporter did make the last substantial bid into Rita's kiosk. And since Rita would be "tickled pink" to see the 'beamers reach 100K and then Gold soon, well, the avatar seemed appropriate.

In the near future, the team will be having an Air Show event. The date has not yet been announced.

Go Sunbeamers! Go Relay!

Bixyl goes Human for 5 weeks.

So it looks like Liska will be dealing with a few "buck stops here" jokes and yours truly will be furless, at least for a few weeks. Being a journalist however, I can switch back to my usual self when doing an interview, or something else related to the paper. But other times, I'm without the pointed ears and tail.

And yes, it's not the same human avatar after the first couple "Bid Me Human" events. I figured two rounds of "Blazing Saddles" jokes was enough, so went with an Asian avie instead.

In the meantime, the fundraising by Team Sunbeamers continues. There will soon be another round of "Bid Me" volunteers.  The team itself has climbed to almost 64,000 Lindens, passing the halfway mark to Gold. After that is Platinum, in which I appear as something special for a week. The first couple times, it was a look I hadn't gone about before. What will it be this time? You'll see.

Go Sunbeamers! Go Relay!
