EOTB: SL20B Open For Applications For Music Fest And General Performers

The big news about Linden Lab's announcement a few days ago was that they had chosen the theme and logo for this year's Second Life Birthday: "Our Fantastic Future." But there was more. They were also accepting applications for positions at the event as general performers, and applications for positions in the Music Fest.

... we are opening applications for Music Fest, to be held on June 22nd-24th. Music Fest will kick off the overall SL20B celebration with three days of live music performances featuring some of the most talented live musicians in Second Life! ... We are also opening up applications for the general performance schedule. Why celebrate for one day when we can party for a week?! We are looking for all types of performers to join the week-long festivities from June 25th to July 2nd. Are you a DJ who can spin up a great party set or a live performer who can jam all night? You might be one of the grid’s amazing Dance companies, or perhaps you’re a Particle Performer? One of the things that makes Second Life so vibrant and exciting is the wide range of performers who share their talent with our Residents. Whatever your medium, we would love to hear from you!

To apply for the SLB Music Fest, one needs to fill out this Google doc (link). The doc needs to be filled out by April 9. While musicians were paid by the Lab in past years, it will not be the case this year but they can still rezz a tip jar, and 350 prims (LI) worth of props. It is to be understood that this is a family-friendly event, and song lyrics must be G-rated. Performance times are an hour each, and showing up on time is necessary to take part. Musicians must also be able to use the event's own stream.

To apply to be an SLB general performer, you need to fill out this Google doc (link). Conditions are much the same as Music Fest Musicians. But if the performance is a group one, such as a dance troope, the prim allowance for props will be raised to 1000 prims (LI). Changes of information, such as names, and time are allowed up to 48 hours of the event.

No applications are available for event volunteer staff yet. Presumably they will be out soon.

The Music Fest itself runs from Thursday June 22 to Sunday June 24. The SL20B goes on from Thursday June 22 to Tuesday July 11. The Music Fest began in 2015 in the days when Second Life Birthdays were run not by the Lab, but by a resident-run volunteer team. It would be the start of Linden Lab's gradual re-involvement in the Second Life Birthday. Eventually, the Lab would take full control of the SLB events, but the Music Fest would remain.

Press Release: Signups Open For Burn2 Winter Burn

Burn2 Burning Man Regional Winter Burn 2022

We kick off the new year with a new outlook with a lot of frosty fun for you.

Winter Burn will take place January 28th through 30th, and we have a delightful theme for this one: Gingerbread Houses (with Jack Frost Effigy).

Twas the winter of 2022…
Gingerbread Man was heading home for the winter after the holidays. Oh, how much he missed his village home, with gingerbread houses and treats scattered every which way! He said to himself, “I will run just as fast as I can” then sang, “You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!”

At last he arrived - what could it be? There was much more than he expected to see!

Jack Frost had nipped! Home was in drifts! Blankets of snow soft as whipped cream! Oh, what a dream! Icy sculptures and frosted art on the ground, gifts from creators the whole world around. Candy lined paths ensured that no one got lost. And in the midst of it all…
the beloved Jack Frost!

And so this is how Burn2 brings you a Winter Burn
[00:24] Mrs. Mia Wallace (Mia Quinote):  theme with “Gingerbread Houses” and a Jack Frost Effigy. Let’s dare to dream, after a couple of trying years. It’s now a time for hope - dry each other’s tears. Hope for a better 2022 and build a fresh start all shiny and new. Come join us, and welcome this new year, new snow, new chance for new things to happen, and celebrate together - us and you!

Press Release: Burn2's "Conception 2016: All the Fun of the Fair July 2-3, 2016"

A long time ago, a world was conceived to let people stay in touch and interact with each other all year round, rather than just at one wonderful place once year.  The conception of this place went far beyond the original idea and its framework.

In this world we can conceive an idea, carry it out and share it with the most diverse community as can possibly be imagined.

What better way to celebrate our conception, than to show what we can create for the community at large with all the fun of the fair?  Food stands, games, rides, float parades, fireworks, let’s fill the Playa with fun and frivolity!

A Fun Twist for Builders!
This is a country fair themed event, and you get a choice of which type of build you would like to do. You can choose to build one of the following types of things:
  • Large ride or interactive attraction
  • Sideshow game of skill or chance
  • Small food stand
  • Ticket box
  • Parade float
  • Suggested build that fits Fair theme (must be discussed with organisers)

The number of plots is limited - first come, first served. Think about what you’d like to do and then apply for your plot. Be sure and read the guidelines at the top of the application form, select your choice of build type and write a description of what you have in mind.

You can sign up for your plot on the Conception 2016 Builder Application.
We can't wait to see you!

Performer Signup Ready NOW
We are always delighted welcome new and experienced artists, live musicians, DJs and performers all working to an interesting theme.

UPDATE: Performance self-signup is now OPEN!
A few performance slots are still available - grab them while you can!
Be careful not to over-write in spaces where another performer is signed up.

We have a diverse lineup of live performances this year!
Fire dancing
Poetry
Skin Burn fashion show
And of course live music and DJs.

Sing up to be part of the Fun of the Fair! See link "Performance Signup" under Conception 2016 in the menu at left.
Please contact Cuga Rajal in world with any questions.
Greeter Signup Open
BURN2's Greeters are a fun bunch of people who enjoy welcoming visitors to the playa at events. Signup for Greeter duty is now open!  Here is the link: http://bit.ly/1U0llTw .

Another Something New: Skin Burn Fashion Show
Every year after our October Burn we celebrate one more Burning of The Man, free of Lag. Skin Burn means we converge on the freshly cleared Playa to dance in the fire of the last burning of The Man without laggy clothing or accessories. Yes - NO hair either. Bald is beautiful in our world! Embrace it with open arms!

We are issuing an open call for skin designs as well as models. Come and model your own new skin if you like, as well. Your beautiful skin design may be just the one to make someone feel less self-conscious about being bald.

All skins exhibited in the show will be gathered and distributed at this year's Skin Burn event, so they must be full permissions. Remember this is a gifting event, full of Color and Design. Go Crazy!

The Skin Burn Fashion show will take place on Sunday July 3rd, 2016 at 4pm - 5pm SLT. More information will be given to those added to the list of models and skin designers for the fashion show. Interested? Please IM Daark Gothly to be added to the list.

Don't be Shy ... Be Happy In Your Skin ... Lag Free doesn't mean dull!
All are welcome to come to the event, July 2-3, 2016.
