Announcement: "Darkness Into Light"

 

BWBSL-(Burners Without Borders in SL) invites you to Darkness Into Light (DIL) 2022
Darkness Into Light is a Global initiative about HOPE. It is about letting people know they are not alone. This event is about support for mental illness and suicide prevention. There are many DIL walks around the globe and this is our 2nd year initiating one here in SL. Thank you for joining us.

HERE IS THE PLAN:
We all meet May 7th, at 8:45AM SLT. We walk together for 5KM (around an hour), starting in the Dark and ending as the sun rises.

We will walk along "The Great Wall of SecondLife" and up through Mount Campion National Forest, ending at a lookout point to watch the sunrise together.

Burn2 Burning Man Regional Winter Burn 2022

We kick off the new year with a new outlook with a lot of frosty fun for you.

Winter Burn will take place January 28th through 30th, and we have a delightful theme for this one: Gingerbread Houses (with Jack Frost Effigy).

Twas the winter of 2022…
Gingerbread Man was heading home for the winter after the holidays. Oh, how much he missed his village home, with gingerbread houses and treats scattered every which way! He said to himself, “I will run just as fast as I can” then sang, “You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!”

At last he arrived - what could it be? There was much more than he expected to see!

Jack Frost had nipped! Home was in drifts! Blankets of snow soft as whipped cream! Oh, what a dream! Icy sculptures and frosted art on the ground, gifts from creators the whole world around. Candy lined paths ensured that no one got lost. And in the midst of it all…
the beloved Jack Frost!

And so this is how Burn2 brings you a Winter Burn
[00:24] Mrs. Mia Wallace (Mia Quinote):  theme with “Gingerbread Houses” and a Jack Frost Effigy. Let’s dare to dream, after a couple of trying years. It’s now a time for hope - dry each other’s tears. Hope for a better 2022 and build a fresh start all shiny and new. Come join us, and welcome this new year, new snow, new chance for new things to happen, and celebrate together - us and you!

The Burn2 Fashionistas and "Larry"

 

I would like to recommend one meeting that I hope to attend. Vickie Maidstone is having a workshop to introduce her marvelous group , The Fashionistas. This group strut their stuff at the Burn2 events with an air of fun and fashion. She is looking for members to add to the models who appear now. Vickie says   "What does it take to be a fashion model? How does a fashion model train? Schooling and rewards Have you ever wondered what goes on when a fashion model gets ready for a show? And the process to becoming a model? See you at our stage on playa."

 Burn2 VB2021 there will be several showing of a wonderful film of Larry Harvey one of the founders of Burning Man .

Cartoon of the Day: On Top of The Newser Exhibit

 

Taken at the top of Silvia Ametza's SL18B Newser exhibit. While going about the SLB grounds, Mia Wallace decided to climb it, then I followed, then Zoren Manray. While this wasn't quite the conversation that followed, we had some fun times.

Press Day at Burn 2

Yesterday on October 17, the Burn2 area was briefly open to the press and media of Second Life. And this included yours truly. So I went about seeing what was around. The artists there were more than happy to show me what they created for this year's festival. There was quite bit to see, and there were a few questions answered, such as "Who is John Frum?"

Last weekend was the Burn2 event "Color Outside of the Lines." For fans of the popular once a year art festival, it was a chance to have some Burn-related fun a little early in the year. And the Newser was there to take a few pictures.
