Scenes From The SL19B: Parcel Marker
From somewhere on the SLB exhibition sims. One practice is for an exhibitor to mark a parcel as claimed with an object from his or her inventory. Sometimes the markers are large and detailed to the point one wonders if that is the actual build. But with this one, it's obvious there's more to come.
Stay tuned for more updates.

SL18B Update: Map Names Changed, Newser Officially In As Exhibitor
In our last update about the Second Life Birthday sims, they were back up, but still having their SL17B names. Checking again after a tip, the "17" was gone, and some water sims at the edges were added.
Yesterday, the Newser was contacted by Linden Lab, informing us that we were once again welcome as an exhibitor. This marks the tenth year we've been doing so. In the Second Life Exhibitor's group, it was stated, "We had 275 applications for 175 spots." So competition for the spots was fierce.
The announcement also stated the sims should be open to exhibitors sometime today, May 24. Unfortunately, one thing they won't be open to is published photographs of the area, even teasers of placeholders and closeups of Linden builds that reveal next to nothing about the whole thing. Which is unfortunate as teasers we've done in the past such as the bathroom with the three sea shells stirred up interest without revealing much of anything.

SL16B Applications Now Open, "We Are Excited To Return to Being More Involved" Says Linden Lab
Last Friday, Linden Lab announced on the official blog that applications for the Second Life Sixteenth Birthday Celebration, the SL16B, were now being accepted. They also announced that they would "return to being more involved in the organization of all the events."
As we blogged earlier this month (Announcing “SL16B” - Second Life’s Sweet Sixteen!) SL16B is coming this summer - and part of the celebration means we will be opening applications for Volunteers, Exhibitors and Performers. This year, we are excited to return to being more involved in the organization of all the events. In addition to the official Music Fests, costume parties, and Shopping events, of the last few years, we’re also returning to our roots and participating more in the development and planning of the main SLB celebration.
Except for the SL3B, Linden Lab ran the first eight Second Life Birthday events. Then on April 2012, they announced they would not be organizing one that year. It was up to the residents to organize one, and eventually a team led by Doc Gascoigne did. "The Birthday" was saved. Although the Lab would slowly get a little involved with the Music Fest and a shopping event, Doc's team would continue organizing the main event up to the SL15B. The Newser would declare them "Persons of the Year" for 2018.
Exhibitor Application - Applications close on May 15th, 2019 (Exhibitor Policies)
Performer Application - Applications close on May 15th, 2019 ( Performer Policies)
Volunteer Applications - Applications close on May 15th, 2019
Merchant Application - Applications close on June 1st, 2019
The applications to audition for the Music Fest are not yet available.
So after several years, apparently Linden Lab will once again be running "The Birthday." It should be interesting to see how things go.

SL Video: "The Drax Files - World Makers - Episode 14: Rose Borchovski"
(Click Here if the video fails to load)
"'If you are a member of the art world you cannot any longer ignore immersive virtual worlds!' says Rose Borchovski and adds: 'In Second Life I have a much wider audience than in a museum!'
"The prolific Dutch artist - whose real life identity need'nt be revealed in these liner notes - considers herself privileged to combine her SecondLife work with physical mixed media installations she exhibits all over the world.
"Still, she says, only open virtual worlds can bring about an unparalleled intensity primarily because of avatar identification: anyone can create a digital alter ego, then walk into a digital performance space at any time, surrounded by sound, images, interactive 3D objects, that are to be explored and manipulated at leisure. And all that gentle artistic "onslaught" is accompanied by other - acquainted of random - avatar visitors who from behind their computer screens share and shape a unique emotional experience.

SL10B: Moving Along
You are headed for a great time at the Second Life Birthday Party
celebrating 10 years. This community organized event is really gearing up to
open on June 16. Build are popping up everywhere, many with a history theme
based on Looking Forward, Looking back.
As an Exhibitor Assistant, I have
been able to roam around and peek into many creations. I took a look at the
Auditorium where there will be meetings and presentations, and at the four
performance and party stages. I ran into David Abbot (Da5id Abbot) walking all
the sims. He is getting a hunt ready and wants you all to walk the sims too, so
you won’t miss anything. That is why he is doing it himself. That is a long
walk!
The Pod is all set to take you either through the eastern sims or the
western sims. Take your pick, or ride both. Yavanna Llanfair has done a superb
job with the ride. You can go into mouse look and look around at
everything as you pass, or jump out at any time to explore a certain area.Friday, May 31, 2013
