Cartoon of The Day: Antler Ornaments

Taken at the Christmas Expo. One lady had tree ornaments on her antlers. So what happened here? I could think of one explanation.

A Busy Weekend

Plenty happened this weekend. The Christmas Expo took place, with events such as the Dream Kids performance and the last sets at the event stages, along with auctions, the results of the snowman contest, and more, ending with the Holiday for Hope Ball (above). There were other happenings, such as the monthly Homes for Our Troops fundraiser at Veterans Isle, Bay City's Tree Lighting, and more.

Yours truly would also give another virtual world a short look, and get talked into seeing a couple women's wrestling matches. But I forgot one thing:

Girls

fight

viciously.

 More details later.

Scenes From The Christmas Expo: Dragon Landing

Taken at the Christmas Expo. With some supporters of the American Cancer Society (The Expo technically isn't a Relay event) having large avatars, it can make for something of a situation on the dance floor. So there was a special platform for the dragons at the main stage.

Getting Ready For The Expo

Picture taken at the west border of the American Cancer Society sim. The Relay for Life volunteer group is preparing for the Second Life Christmas Expo. Starting on Friday November 28 (the day after Thanksgiving), there will be events, music, scenery, and shopping across nine sims.

As one can see from the picture, the Relayers have set up some good scenery, but they're not quite finished yet. And for now the sims are still closed to most.

The Holidays of Hope Gala

Sunday December 8 was the last day of the Christmas Expo. Among the events was what could be described as the finale: the Holidays of Hope Gala. A number of avatars large and small dropped over, including two who were normally large dragons who went average size for the dance.

Musicians such as Coralie and Grace Loudon performed for the crowd, who danced away to the music while occasionally dropping in some Lindens into the donation kiosk.

There were other things to do, such as taking a ride on the railroad.

And one could check out the decorated houses. Here, One of the Moles demonstrated a need for practice in parking.

Some of the houses were decorated very colorfully.

With the end of the Expo, there will be no more entries in the auctions and contests, which will presumably announce winners soon, if they haven't already. It is noteable that in the past few years, Linden Lab has used the Expo to introduce a new brand of Linden Home. But this was not the case this year. Perhaps the Lindens are still brainstorming over a unique theme, or perhaps they've been busy fixing bugs.

The Expo is the last of the Relay's spinoff events for the year. But Relayers won't have to wait too long. In about a couple months in February, the official 2025 RFL season will begin.

Go Relay!

Cartoon of The Day: Tree-Mendous Costume

Taken at the Christmas Expo. One of the ladies on stage was in a pink Christmas tree costume. Why pink? Maybe she thought it was, well, you know.

Last Day For the Christmas Expo

For those who can't get enough of the Christmas Expo, or have yet to be there, today is the last scheduled day of events. Among them, the Holidays of Hope Gala at 1 PM SL time, the Expo's formal ball. Expect this to be the last day for many contests and auctions.

And your last day to sit on "Santa Patch's"lap. Here, Patch Linden plays the part of Santa Clause, with a number of Moles and Lindens acting as elves.

Scenes From The Christmas Expo

The Christmas Expo opened last Friday, November 29, and there's been plenty of fun to be had there. At the music area, I saw a live performers sing away to audiences that included a few dragons and a unicorn.

There were activities, such as taking a ride on Santa's sleigh across the sims.

There were various decorated houses om the sims, reflecting the theme "Christmas Through The Decades."

There were auctions in cooperation with the Lab for last names, a homestead sim, time with Patch Linden, and more.

Besides all this, there's time with Santa Patch, and lots and lots of shopping.

Christmas Expo Officially Ends

Sunday December 11 was the last day of the Relay for Life Christmas Expo. The high point was the "Holidays of Hope Gala." It was at a location high above the Expo sims that wasn't revealed until the last minute. Dropping by, it was packed, with a live musician providing the music.

The sims should remain up for a few days so people can see the sights. But the end of the Expo means that aside from weekly chats, the Relay events for 2022 are over. In January, teams can register for the 2023 season, which begins in February.

Go Relay!

SL Video: "Christmas Expo 2022 - Home For The Holidays"

From Mac n' Tease Tomato (Nicola Nitely and Macguyver Mode) on December 7, "Filmed on location at the Christmas Expo 2022 Sims." A trip by a couple to meet the man's parents turns into more than the lady bargained for.

Cartoon of The Day: Not Just His Two Front Teeth

Taken at the Christmas Expo. Once again, a crowded event resulted in a few avies not fully rezzing. While looking at this picture, it was fairly obvious what this guy would want for Christmas, and a certain Christmas song came to mind

"Santa Patch" at The RFL Expo

Yesterday at the Relay for Life's Christmas Expo, there was an event that featured a lot of Lindens and Moles. At a 'have your picture taken with Santa" event, Patch Linden was taking the role of Santa, and other Lindens and Moles were taking the roles of elves, and one reindeer.

Santa Patch is back for photos again this year!

Supporting the American Cancer Society's Fight Against Childhood Cancer. A donation to the Kiosk is appreciated when you snap your photo.

For over two and a half hours, the VP of Product had a number of avatars, adult and child sitting on his lap. I can't recall any specific Christmas wishes made, though no doubt there were probably a few requests for Linden Bears. One could get a special edition Christmas Patch Linden bear for a donation to the Relay. One little girl did request if someone could take a picture and send it to her as her computer kept crashing when she took pictures.
