Copperfield Heights Linden Home Area Adds More Sims

The Copperfield Heights homes that first became available to the residents a week ago and had more available a few days later, have continued to grow in numbers. They have gone from 27 sims to 44. Many have amusing names such as Spit Take and Trollbridge. The Winter look the first ones had is now gone, the snow melted and replaced with greenery.

Demand for the homes seems to have been outstripping supply, at least early in the week. On Tuesday evening when I dropped by, I noticed several sins on the west were empty of people and people were gathered at the edge on the other side of the boundary. Going over, I found those sims were closed to regular residents. In Bellisseria chat, a Linden stated they wouldn't be open until later. And this left the residents grumbling a little, the ones near me frustrated with unoccupied new Linden Homes so tantalizingly close, but out of reach until presumably some unknown time tomorrow, with no guarantee by the time they logged on any would be available.

With this kind of demand, there will likely be more Copperfield Heights sims later on. There is plenty of room to the west for further expansion.  How soon is not known.

Stay tuned for details.

More on The Copperfield Heights Linden Homes

As reported earlier, on Thursday February 26 Linden Lab announced their latest model of Linden Homes: the Copperfield Heights homes, both in the official blog, and the forums

Copperfield Heights - Traditional Craftsman homes with spacious living areas and signature architectural design.

The newest in the line of Linden Homes has arrived. These warm craftsman styled homes feature wooden beams, custom wood elements and minimalist Craftsman interiors.

Copperfield Heights is open to all Plus, Premium and Premium Plus Residents. This collection of Craftsman style homes creates communities featuring natural elements and earth tones designed to create an authentic Arts & Crafts neighborhood in Second Life.

 * * * * *

Copperfield Heights brings traditional Craftsman design with spacious living areas and signature architectural details inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement. Warm wood tones, exposed beams, natural stone elements, and multi-paned windows create a neighborhood that feels timeless and welcoming.

Open to Plus, Premium, and Premium Plus members, this collection expands the Linden Homes lineup with a focus on craftsmanship and comfort.

Dropping in myself for a look, the place looked like a nice suburb in the middle of winter. As it turns out the neighborhood is designed to change with the seasons, with greenery appearing in the spring, and in the fall the leaves turn brown and red. I would read, "Like Aspen Ridge, Copperfield Heights regions transform automatically throughout the year. ... There is nothing to manage. The seasons shift on their own."

But what sets this neighborhood apart from previous Linden Home areas is it's not just Premium homes, not just Premium Plus homes, but both! Among the 512 and 1024 square-meter lots one would expect to find in a Premium Linden Home area are some 2048 sm lots that were previously only in their own spacious neighborhoods.

And in terms of variety of house design, this is the most diverse Linden Home area to date with a total of twelve models. There are four homes with 512 square meter lots, Glenwood, Laurel, Maple Grove, and Prairie. There are four with 1024 sm lots, Cedarwood, Meadowbrook, Millbrook, and Sunnydale. And there are four with 2024 sm lots, Maplecrest, Oakridge, Pinecrest, and Woodland.

If you want to jump right in to look around, this spot is as good as any: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Winesap%20Ridge/128/128/25

Update: The Copperfield Heights area has been expanded to 27 sims, including Copperfield Crossing which connects it to Bellissera. The shore has a boat rezzing area, near All Hours (169,150,23),  so you can sail across. The sims I saw at the edge looked green, so this being March, the change of seasons may have already happened.

There may be further expansions, so those who are interested in a home here, keep an eye here for more sims later.

It's The Great Trick or Treat Event, Bellisseria!

With Halloween, an interactive event has returned to the Linden Home areas: the Bellisseria Trick or Treat event. This is an event anyone can take part in, and any owner of a Linden Home can make it grow. Details were explained in the Linden blog and the forums

Join the Halloween fun in Bellisseria this season to collect candy and win exciting prizes! This interactive event is open to everyone, with Bellisseria Residents hosting Candy Buckets on their parcels. Don’t miss out on the spooky partygoers and creative costumes during this virtual Trick or Treat. Plus, there are prizes for all participants ...

* * *

Prepare to celebrate Halloween Belli style! Collect candy across Bellisseria this Halloween season and win prizes! This is an interactive event where residents living in Bellisseria can host Candy Buckets on their parcels and anyone (even residents not living in Bellisseria) can go all around Bellisseria Trick or Treating to collect candy.

People take take part in two ways. For both of them, head over to the Haunted Neighborhood in Millbank (217/41/23), There, near the red balloon, you'll find three boards. The first will give you a candy bucket, which is what those playing the game will need to find. The second will give you the Trick or Treat HUD for playing the game. The third will give players a prize if they've collected enough candy.

For those with Linden Homes, you can take part in the candy giving. Touch the first panel, and it will give you a orange candy bucket with a jack o' lantern smile. Just rezz it on your porch, or somewhere clearly visible that you don't mind visitors walking over to. Rezzing it inside the house is not recommended as treaters need to get close to the bucket to collect candy.

To take part in the trick or treating, clicking on the middle panel will give you the trick or treat HUD. Just add it to your avatar, and it should appear on the upper left of your screen, with some minor adjustments possibly needed. When entering a Bellisseria sim, it will tell you in local chat how many candy buckets are around.

When clicked by someone with a HUD, the candy buckets animate with a cloudy of candy going up into the air. The bucket won't work outside Bellisseria.

To get the candy faster, there's a spreadsheet with various locations you can find (here).  To get on the list, fill out this Google docs form (here).

The forum would also list some prizes, which can be gotten by clicking on the third panel. Patch Linden would list the prizes in the forums as follows:
  • 1 Candy: Custom display shelving unit for Boopies.
  • 100 Candies: Nibblehoof Boopie (decor and animesh follower), Custom display shelving unit for Boopies.
  • 250 Candies: Boopie Bones Boopie (decor, huggable, and animesh follower with random tint-changing versions), Nibblehoof Boopie (decor and animesh follower), Custom display shelving unit for Boopies.
  • 400 Candies: Snarklin Boopie (decor and animesh follower), Boopie Bones Boopie (decor, huggable, and animesh follower with random tint-changing versions), Nibblehoof Boopie (decor and animesh follower), Custom display shelving unit for Boopies.

No ending date was given, though it's safe to assume the event will end on November 1. In the meantime, have fun collecting candy, and the sights of the occasional decorated home in Bellisseria. Among the locations with candy buckets is the Newser's auxiliary office at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Wallingford (128/40/32).

EOTB: New Linden Home Theme: Ridgewood Conclave

At the Second Life Birthday in June, Patch Linden would announce the next Linden Home theme would be soon, and called "The Ridgewood Conclave." Yesterday on September 11, the Lab announced the first sims with these homes were now open

A brand new Linden Homes theme has arrived, bringing a fresh sense of style and calm living to Bellisseria.

Ridgewood Enclave blends contemporary design with lush landscaping, offering Premium Plus Residents a neighborhood that feels both modern and connected to nature. Set among palm trees and winding sidewalks, this community balances clean architectural lines with soft greenery, creating a warm and breezy retreat.

Patch Linden would announce the news in the forums:

A new Linden Homes theme has arrived, bringing clean lines, modern living, and a peaceful suburban feel.

Ridgewood Enclave is now open to Premium Plus Residents. This warm and breezy neighborhood blends contemporary design with soft landscaping, giving each street a fresh and refined look. Set among palm trees, curving sidewalks, and layered greenery, it feels connected to nature without losing its sense of structure and style.

There are six varieties of Ridgewave homes: Brackenrock, Crestline, Claystone, Duskieedge, Shadowline, and Vellstone. These are made to look like they're built with brick or stone walls. Most are two stories, some with a small tower. Two models had car garage areas. The neighborhood was full of subtropical greenery, much like what one could find in Florida.

As of the writing of this article, some of the homes were already claimed, but some looked like they were still available, at least for now.

The 22 sims are in a group just off the southwest corner of Bellisseria. As of now, there is no direct connection to the rest of the Linden Home continent, but given the history of Linden Home development this will almost certainly change.

For more information, check the Linden Blog.

Patch Linden Announced Upcoming Linden Home Theme, Ridgewave Conclave, "Foray Into Commercial" in Belliseria In The Future

On Monday June 23, the first of the Meet The Lindens events took place. Missy Mole, in a tiny avatar with a top hat, welcomed the audience and introduced a few of the Products Operations team, Patch Linden, Kira Linden, and Izzy Linden.

Missy would say that residents had sent in over a hundred questions. When asked about what the plans for Linden Homes were (4:42), Patch answered, "There's a lot of stuff in the works. ,,, we just recently released Aspen Ridge, and we also released updates to the log homes by adding some additional floor plans." He went on to say they've been in the process of updating Linden Homes in Bellisseria over time, calling it "a challenge because of how big everything is now."

Patch would then say the next Linden Home theme "is right around the corner. ,,, it will be called Ridgewave Conclave." It will be for Premium-Plus residents. Patch would give no further details, "let you imagine what that might be."

Patch would also mention "our foray into commercial," saying there would soon be commercial parcels on Bellisseria "with this theme rolling out.... it will be separate and kind of it's own thing. It will take advantage of using your land allotment where you can split it between home and commercial." There would be more information, "as we get closer to launch." But the Linden Homes would have a priority over the commercial areas.

Patch would go on to say further into the year, there would be more updates, including a "big" Linden Home theme "at the end of the year," saying it was "a mix of both" Premium and Premium Plus and promised "exciting features baked into it as well."

More on the "Meet the Lindens" later.

More On The Aspen Ridge Linden Homes, And News On Legacy Homes

Last week on Tuesday April 15, Linden Lab introduced the latest Linden Home, the Aspen Ridge. This is the third type of Linden Home introduced this year, and available to both Premium and Premium-Plus residents.

What sets these homes apart is that the land they're on can change with the seasons, advertised by the Lab as "our first seasonal home." Going to the demo homes, one could switch between winter and spring. If there's an autumn phase, it wasn't shown.

The houses are wooden walls on a foundation of stone, and are in six varieties: Peakstone, Ridgeway, Highpoint, Summitview, Elkridge, and Crestwood.

These Linden homes are located in a new part of Bellisseria, just east of the Sakura home area in it's north-central area. Originally a five sim area not connected to the Bell mainland, in the past several days it's grown to a 31 sim landmass connected to the rest of Bellisseria by a single mostly water sim.

Going about, already people were decorating those in the areas I saw with furniture and yard decor. It's a safe bet like other Linden Homes, they're a popular hit that will soon be almost all taken up, if they haven't already.

But with the Linden's announcement, there was a warning to those still in the older Linden Homes, also known as legacy Linden Homes. The Lab announced they're starting the closing of the legacy Home sims.

With the release of Aspen Ridge and other recent Linden Homes, we’re entering a new era. As previously announced, we’re beginning the phased retirement of all legacy Linden Homes. If you’re still living in one of those original styles, it’s time to start thinking about your next chapter.

It's unknown how many are still in these older Linen Home regions.

New Linden Home: Aspen Ridge

On Tuesday April 15, Linden Lab announced a new Linden Home: The Aspen Ridge.

A breathtaking new Linden Homes theme has just arrived—and it’s unlike anything before.

Aspen Ridge is now available to Premium Residents. Nestled deep in the mountain highlands of Bellisseria, this forested neighborhood invites you into a tranquil world of tall pines, winding trails, and homes designed to blend naturally into their alpine surroundings. It’s peaceful. It’s immersive. It’s the kind of place where time doesn’t just pass—it flows.

More details tomorrow  as real life is limiting writing time.

Tiki Home Lighthouse Slide

Taking a look at the Tiki and Groto Linden Home area off Bellisseria the other day, I noticed a tall structure. Panning closer, I saw it was a combination lighthouse and water slide. While you can climb (or fly) up, you can slide down.

The lighthouse slide (slidehouse) is in Tad Pool (250,99.59).

New Tiki And Groto Linden Home Sims On Map

When the first Tiki and Groto Linden Home sims went online earlier this month on Monday February 2, the homes in the eighteen sim area were all quickly snapped up in a matter of hours. Fortunately, the Moles have been continuing to work on more, adding sims with the new kind of Linden home around the original area (outlined in red above) and to it's south and southeast along the southern coast of the central part of Bellisseria.

Figures on how many houses are left available are unknown, but the sims are open for anyone wishing to boat from Bellisseria to them (or swim underwater for any merfolk).

EOTB: "Membership Mania" Offering Higher Group Limit, More Perks For Upgraded Accounts

On Monday February 10, Linden Lab announced their "Membership Mania" week. Everybody, basic accounts included, is getting higher group limits. And there's now more perks for upgraded accounts, including a few Linden Home types available for Plus.

February’s Membership Mania continues with even more surprises and rewards for our valued Plus, Premium, and Premium Plus members! If you thought last week’s announcements were exciting, just wait until you see what’s in store this week. From free daily Linden Dollars to expanded benefits across the board, there’s never been a better time to be a Second Life member!

To begin with, everybody is getting a higher group limit.  This includes Basic accounts, who are having it raised from 42 to 50. Plus accounts are getting it raised from 50 to 55. Premium residents are going from 60 to 70 groups. And for Premium Plus, the limit is going from 140 to 150.

The last time the group limit was changed for basic accounts was in 2011, when it was raised from 30 to 42. At Second Life's beginning in 2003, it was just ten.  In 2004, it was raised to 15. In 2006, it was raised to 25. In 2016, it would raise the limit of Premium accounts to 60.

In 2019, Linden Lab announced it would be cutting the limit back, but eventually relented and kept the limit at 42.

Less important but still useful, the number of stored IMs will be going up. For Basic, the number will be going up from 15 to 30. For Plus, from 15 to 40. Premium goes from 80 to 120. Premium Plus goes from 160 to 240.

Linden Lab is lowering the cost to be a Linden Home owner. Those with Plus accounts are now eligible for one. But, they won't have the selection Premium residents have. They will be limited to just three kinds, Newbrooke Sakura, and Campers.

For those wanting to add one more decoration to their Linden Homes, more good news. Linden Lab is raising the Land Impact levels. For land parcels 512 square meters in size, is up from 175 to 234 LI. For those 1024 in size, 351 to 468. And for those 2048 from 703 to 937.

And for those using the Mobile Viewer with accounts over Basic, good news. The Lab will be paying you to log in daily with their "Linden Reward Streaks"

For a limited time, we’re rolling out Linden Reward Streaks, an exciting new way for Plus, Premium, and Premium Plus members to earn free Linden Dollars daily simply by logging in to the Second Life Mobile app.

To claim some free Lindens, log onto the mobile app if you have an account higher than Basic (download it first if you don't have it). If you log on for a second day in a row, you get a few more Lindens than the first day. If you log on for a third day in a row, you get still more up to day seven. After that, you get the same amount of free Lindens for as long as you keep logging in every day, "Look for the Streaks pop-up when you log in or find it in your main menu. "

New Bellisseria Sims

Besides the new Linden Home sims, there's been some work elsewhere on Bellisseria. Checking the map near the connection to the mainland between eastern Sansaria and northwest Bellisseeria, the unfinished coast is finally getting some costal sims. The Moles have been working away.

So for those who want Linden Homes with a waterfront look, and those who like sailing down the coast, some good news.

Winner of Final Linden Home Poll Announced: Tiki/Water Theme

Last Monday, August 5, Patch Linden announced in the Second Life forums the winner of the last Linden Home Poll. It was the Tiki/Water Theme, with Alpine Style Theme (Snow) as the runner up.

The winner:  Tiki/Water Theme
Runner up:  Alpine Style Theme (Snow)

Owing to our offsite training, the team has fallen somewhat behind and is now focused on catching up. We have yet to determine which theme will be in line with Premium or Premium+, but we expect to make this decision promptly.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the poll and helped decide the upcoming themes for Linden Homes!

The first of the three polls was announced on July 1, of which Tiki/Water and Alpine style were just two of 33 themes listed. The winner was supposed to have been announced a week earlier, on Monday July 28, but was delayed without comment for seven days.

There was no comment about when the new theme will be available.

Delay Of Announcement of New Linden Home Theme

Last week, Linden Lab announced they were doing their last of three polls for the new Linden Home theme. The choices were "Millionare Homes," "Mid-Century Modern," "Alpine Style Theme," "Craftsman Style Homes," and "Tiki Water Theme." The winner was supposed to be announced on Monday. But it wasn't. As of the writing of this article, the theme has not yet been announced.

It was also brought up in the forums that the date for the second Community Roundtable, which was supposed to be at the SL21B but delayed, hasn't been announced either. Nor have there been any new updates in the Lab's "Featured News" for over a month.

Stay tuned for more information,

It Came From Bellisseria Chat: "The Olympic Flag is Flying"

With the Paris Olympics starting today in real life, it was appropriate when Radioactive Rosca announced, "The Olympic flag is flying in Bellisseria," then posted this picture of it on a flagpole at a Linden Home. Someone mused "does it have it's pilot's license?"

EOTB: Lnden Home Poll

In the official forums, Patch Linden announced there was a poll open, one asking people which of a list of Linden Home theme ideas were the best, telling them they could select three.

As mentioned in the "Your Theme Ideas Please" post, this is the first of two polls we will conduct.  We reviewed the thread and identified numerous potential themes!  We condensed some of the themes down to what we know can work as Linden Homes, and also merged a few together where we thought it would make sense, especially with some duplicate mentions.  Please vote for your top 3 picks in this poll!   We will then have a second poll from the top choices here to choose a winner.

The poll (page here) has a total of 33 themes. They vary from science-fiction to fantasy to Medieval to modern. Some were similar to existing themes, such as Mid-Century Modern. And there were some very unique themes such as the Mermaid Homes, which would be the first underwater theme if approved.

It was not mentioned which homes would be Premium, and which would be Premium plus, though Patch did say, "selection of the premium account type to which the theme will be applied will depend on the winning theme's outcome." But "Millionaire Homes" and "Castles" would be easier to pull off with Premium Plus.

I happened to be listening in on Bellisseria chat when the poll was first brought up. The only complaint there was that people could only chose three. It was commented on that mermaid homes and 18th Century Caribbean would be an interesting combination. In the forums, it was asked why Norwegian homes were an option as there was already a Second Norway region. Patch answered that this was an option a number of people asked for.

Patch didn't give a date as to how long this poll would be open, though did mention "possibly concluding it by Friday."

Once again, the poll is located (here).

Expansion of Mediterranean Linden Home Area In Bellisseria

In December, Linden Lab unveiled it's next line of Linden Homes for Premium-Plus accounts: the Mediterranean. With this announcement, some land with the homes was opened just offshore north of the  Bellisseria landmass just west of the Sakura homes. This month, the area of sims has been expanded. This included two connections, one of which was linked by a bridge.

The bridge is in the Goodge Reef sim (no sign of anyone named Charlie Brown). One could walk or drive across the bridge. But there's also a cannon at both ends. One can get in, and with a press of the button, fly into the air, and go splat onto the beach at the other side.

Premium-Plus residents are no doubt happy to hear about the new homes available to move in, as well as fans of Bellisseria who are pleased to have more land to explore.
