Linden Lab Updates Marketplace Policy In Regards To Inactive Merchants

On Wednesday August 12, Linden Lab announced on it's blog that it had updated it's Marketplace policies. This was in regards to inactive merchants and items that are not selling.

There is now a "Product Unlisting Policy"

If a Merchant has not logged in for one year AND a specific product has not generated a sale in one year, that individual product listing will be automatically unlisted from Marketplace.

This policy applies only when both conditions are met.

If a Merchant has not logged in for one year AND a specific product has not sold in one year, that product will be automatically unlisted.

The Lab would add unlisting by itself "does not delete the product, the listing data, or the merchant account. The product is simply disabled from appearing for sale on Marketplace unless reactivated later by the merchant."

There is also a "Store Disabling Policy"

If a Merchant has not logged in for two years AND their store has not sold anything in one year, the entire store will be automatically disabled.

The Lab would add this disabling of a Marketplace store, "does not delete the merchant account, products, or store data. The store is simply removed from active Marketplace visibility unless later reactivated by the merchant."

The policy enforcement will be aided by "a new automated monthly review process that identifies inactive products and stores based on account activity and sales history."

To keep products actve, the Lab encouraged merchants to "Review older or lower-performing listings periodically," and "Refresh product listings, images, descriptions, or pricing to help improve visibility and sales activity." They added, "Active merchants and actively maintained products will not be affected by these changes. Accounts will not be affected by these changes."

Delay Of Announcement of New Linden Home Theme

Last week, Linden Lab announced they were doing their last of three polls for the new Linden Home theme. The choices were "Millionare Homes," "Mid-Century Modern," "Alpine Style Theme," "Craftsman Style Homes," and "Tiki Water Theme." The winner was supposed to be announced on Monday. But it wasn't. As of the writing of this article, the theme has not yet been announced.

It was also brought up in the forums that the date for the second Community Roundtable, which was supposed to be at the SL21B but delayed, hasn't been announced either. Nor have there been any new updates in the Lab's "Featured News" for over a month.

Stay tuned for more information,

New "Bid Me" By RFL Bid Sunbeamers

There's a brand new "Bid Me" event by the Relay for Life's Team Sunbeamers, one that could be considered part inside joke and part fundraiser. One of the team members, Zorro Wuramunga, is offering to take a vow of silence for a time.

Sunnies,  New BID ME has begun, ZORRO has offered to shut up for however long you bid him to be quiet.  How deep are your pockets?  He offered, I just set it up.  Now is your chance to silence the fox and donate to a good cause!

When dropping by Club Cutlass on Saturday, Zorro himself seemed surprised as to how fast this offer of his was set up, "Already?" When I asked team captain Rita Mariner how this would be announced in the Newser, she responded, "People will bid TO SHUT Zorro up!" As in previous "Bid Me" events, there's a default kiosk for those whom want to keep the volunteer as is. For the "shut up" kiosk, Zorro has promised to be quiet for every 2500 Linden dollars donated, rounded up. 4999 Lindens means no response to "What does the fox say" for a week. 5000 Lindens donated means he's quiet for two weeks.

Zorro, sometimes known as the "fisher fox" for his love of fishing games and often being seen with a fishing pole in his hand, has been the subject of a number of cartoons by the Newser. While much can be spoken about him, for now let's give him a salute, then bid away on his kiosks. Perhaps some of the Sunbeamers will be singing one parody song done by team member Shockwave Yareach.

The last day to bid on Zorro is Saturday May 16, on which the totals will be made final at 8PM SL time.

The two "Bid Me" events by Shockwave and Cynthia Farshore are still ongoing and will conclude on Saturday May 9. So far they have raised several thousand Linden dollars. The bachelorette auction with Skylark "Snowbuns" Lefavre was won by Rita Mariner.

Once again, the board and kiosks are in the back of Club Cutlass. https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sunweaver%20Bay/114/117/757

Mauve

Second Life has plenty of places where there's parties going on, places to shop, and lots of flashy effects. But what if you want to go somewhere and just take it easy. One such place you can go to is Mauve. It's out of the way, but not too far away from some popular places. Not too many people come here, so it's good for those who like a little solitude.

SL Video: "TV.wmv" by Bryn Oh

Noted SL artist Bryn Oh came up with this machinima a few years ago, but waited until this week to publish in on her blog at http://brynoh.blogspot.com/ .

"I made this machinima about three years ago and I didn't get around to actually ever sharing it with anyone, so I thought I might today as I don't really have much else to talk about. It is perhaps my quietest video and was made at a time when I was a bit overwhelmed by people always wanting something from me, and the desire to put up barriers. I kind of liked the idea of making something very still and quiet that might also be able to capture the imagination and create a distinct emotion. It is housed within a beautiful song by Radiohead. Perhaps my favorite ever done by them."
