Inside the SL Newser SL14B Exhibit

Bergfrau Apfelbaum did a short animation of the inside of the SL Newser's SL14B exhibit. Matching the theme "Carnivalesque," Silvia  Ametza put in an aquatic amusement park ride. As our job is to inform as well as entertain, there's a model of the Solar System overhead. And the globe represents our dedication to covering events across the Grid.

SL14B Update: Exhibitor Applications To Close May 10, Performers And Volunteers May 17

Last month on April 14, it was announced that the applications for exhibitors, performers, and volunteers for the Second Life Fourteenth Birthday Celebration were being accepted. Earlier today,
Doctor Gascoigne announced that there would be only two more days for anyone interested to fill out one and file it.

Applications will be available till Wed May 10
This give you time if you pu it off till today
So don't rush but HURRY.
ALL APPLICATIONS will be open till Wed May 10
please pass the word and if you want to apply do it SOONISH

It would be noted that applications are not just placeholders. Exhibitors will have to have thought of at least the basics of their build as they have to explain how it will fit the theme of "Carnivalesque."

Performers and volunteers have a little more time. The Timeline states they have an additional week to file their applications. Exhibitors will be notified between May 24 and May 26 if they've been accepted and where their plot will be. May 26 at Noon SL time is when the sims are open to exhibitors. June 10 is when emails are sent to accepted performers. The sims over to everyone at Noon SL time on June 18.

Among those applying is the Second Life Newser. Last year, we had a riverboat exhibit, designed by the talented Silvia Ametza, for their "Shared Adventure" theme. Just as we show you what's going on, a riverboat took many a cowboy to their adventures in the Wild West. What will we have this year? Well, you'll see.

Since coming online in February, the SLB sims have continued to take shape. By the looks of the map, much has been built over the past couple months. But with forty-one days left until "The Birthday," there is still much left to be done.

Stay tuned for more updates

SL14B Applications Open

It was announced early this morning that the remaining applications for the fourteenth Second Life Birthday celebration have finally opened. It was in late February that those for volunteers for infrastructure builders were being taken. Now the applications for exhibitors (those in charge of and building the various exhibits). performers (DJs, live musicians, comedians, etc.) volunteers (greeters, stage managers, exhibitor assistants, etc.) and auditorium (discussing a topic, media event, etc.).

Do you want to build a gorgeous parcel full of fun? Give a view of your prodigious talents to the wider SL community? Teach the masses about your favorite topic? Or just assist in all the mayhem? Applications for SL14B are OPEN! Keep your eyes on this blog (and fill out the subscriber to the right with your email address to get all the updates). We’ll be looking for more folks to fill out the roster in the coming days. But in the meantime, APPLY!

It is asked that those interested read the general event policies, as well as exhibitor and performer policies and the volunteer code of conduct. While a time limit hasn't been given, there's only so many exhibit spaces and a limited amount of time slots for performers.

The SL14B begins on Sunday June 18. The Second Life Newser has had an exhibit at the SLB every year for six years. What will we have this year? Come and find out.

SL14B Logo Revealed

On the night of February 22, Doc Gascoigne announced the theme of the SL14B, the Second Life Fourteenth Birthday, in chat: Carnivalesque. A few days ago on the Second Life blog, it became official.

If this is a birthday, then we’re going to have a festival worthy of Second Life®! Strike up the band, toss on your glad rags, and join us at the SL®14B Community Celebration as we hit the carnival.
While much of the interest around virtual reality has shifted to singular experiences, largely fueled by the pursuit of headset-focused content, we want to remind you of the joy of hundreds of people from all over coming together in one place in celebration, and form a carnival-like atmosphere that you simply cannot achieve alone. Let’s challenge all the perceptions, break all the molds, and show everyone that we know how to celebrate.

But what was truly revealed was the logo for the event, designed by Harper Beresford.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Second Life Birthday.
