Newser Crew Meeting

 

On Saturday December 13 at Noon SL time, the Newser staff would hold a meeting. It would be at its office in HV Community. From right to left were Gemma Cleanslate, Nydia Tungsten, Netera Landar, Penny Shuftan, and Bixyl Shuftan (myself). We would talk about subjects to write about, which December certainly provides plenty of,

And eventually came "meeting adjourned," which brought out a festive gesture.

"What Thanksgiving Means To Me"

 

Penny Shuftan took a break from her medical hiatus to send an article to the Newser. Last month, she thought about Thanksgiving, and what it means to people. So besides looking up information on the holiday, she would interview three people she came across. So what did they have to say?

Crew Meeting

 

 

 Last weekend on Saturday April 13, the Newser held a crew meeting at our main office in HV Community. Attending were Nydia Tungsten, Penny Shuftan (Deaflegacy), Gemma Cleanslate, Dancerina Starlight, and Bixyl Shuftan (me). 

We talked about things to write about in the weeks ahead, such as the Fantasy Faire, Sunbeamer Air Show, and other Relay events. We also talked about the Bellisseria anniversary. Gemma mentioned tablets one could hold for stamp hunters to touch to get one, and showed off an Away from Keyboard flag for when she was.

Crew Meeting

 

 

 On Saturday November 4, the Newser crew had it's monthly meeting at its main office in HV Community. From left to right were Dancerina Starlight, Gemma Cleanslate, Penny Shuftan (Deaflegacy) who was on medical leave but expressed interest in possibly coming back, and  Bixyl Shuftan (myself).

We talked about what we did last month, notably the Halloween and Burn2 articles. Then we talked about plans for November. When I mentioned we *might* be getting an auxiliary office in Bellisseria, the response was pretty enthusiastic: "Yaaayyyyyy!"

Just From Home

 

 

 Penny Shuftan took a few pictures this week, but going through them didn't think most would be good for the paper. So she sent this one over from her inside her SL home in Sunweaver Space.

 Another of Penny Shuftan's (Deaflegacy) screenshots. This one is of the White Vixen Enterprises office building in the Pacific Waters sim. The angel statue in particular got her attention.

 Picture from Penny Shuftan, of a sunset in Sunweaver Space, just over the bridge that allows road traffic between islands. The draw distance was short, so there's no view of the island to the west.

Car At The Office

 

 

 In another of her pictures, Penny Shuftan sent this one she took of my Mouse car at the Newser office in HV Community in the Sunweaver community lands, "Awesome car, Bixie, but where's the key?"

For those wondering what Penny Shuftan (Deaflegacy) has been up to, she's still around. She still comes to Second Life to look after her horses on her land. She sent me this picture of her looking at the moon as it rises over the horizon at night in her land in Sunweaver Space.

 

Cat And Mouse

 

 Taken by Penny Shuftan (Deaflegacy)  at her home in Sunweaver Space. One of her pet breedable Kitticats grew up to be quite large. But it still won't bother a furry mouse of the two-legged kind.

 

RFL Team Sunbeamer Tribute Horse

 

 Penny Shuftan of the Sunweaver community just loves horses. Getting an emerald-green one, she overheard someone comment that one of the Relay for Life's fundraising levels, the one for one million Linden dollars, is Emerald. Since this is the level that's the goal of the Sunny team, the Sunbeamers, she named one horse "One Million Dollars Sunbeamer" in tribute. 

Meanwhile, off-season fundraising has been going well for the Sunbeamers. Team captain Rita Mariner told those at a party at Club Cutlass the other day the team had collected almost enough to qualify for Platinum level fundraising for the upcoming season (provided the ranks remain the same). So it should be an interesting Relay season in 2023.

 On Saturday November 12, the Newser crew would hold it's monthly meeting at the Newser office in HV Community to discuss topics. Present from right to left were Nydia Tungsten, Dancerina Starlight, Penny Shuftan, Penny Shuftan (Deaflegacy) and myself (Bixyl Shuftan). We would talk about possible subjects to write about. 

Probably the high point of the meeting was when I spoke the words "Meeting adjourned." And then the place was filled with confetti, "Yayyyyyyy!"

The Newser Anniversary Beach Party

 

We at the Newser stay busy writing about the people, places, and events across Second Life. But every anniversary, we take a moment to  celebrate with a little beach party. It allows us to both relax, and mix with some of our readers and the neighbors of the office building.

Penny Shuftan (Deaflegacy) recently had a chance to interview Wesley Regenbogen. Years ago, he was a reporter for the Newser. Since his departure, he joined up with a motorcycle club. So how did he meet up with them, and what's been going on?

Interview With Scratch Musikatt

 

Second Life has a number of DJs, but there's none quite like Scratch Musikatt (ScratchMusikatt Fox). Currently performing at the FF Lounge and the Happy Vixen, he has an interesting history that includes clubs such as the Bahama Beach Club and Rainbow Tiger. Newser reporter Penny Shuftan recently had a chance to meet up with him and sit down for a short interview.

Crew Meeting

A few days ago on Saturday April 9, the Newser team held it's monthy crew meeting at our main office in HV Community. Attending were Gemma Cleanslate, Rosie (RougeRedHead01 Resident), Dancerina Starlight, Penny Shuftan (DeafLegacy Resident), and myself. We would talk about possible subjects to cover, including the recent VWBPE conference, the debut of "Virtual Cultures in Pandemic Times," the upcoming Fantasy Faire, and more.

While we were having the meeting, we heard a noise outside. Looking around, it was Cynthia Farshore flying around in a Cessna. She would pass by the office a few times. I tried to take a picture, but just got the tail.

Hopefully I'll have better luck with the plane pictures at the Air Show later on.

Followup Interview With DJ Snowy

 

Due to real-life, Penny Shuftan will be taking what she hopes will be a short break from writing articles. But just in case she has to stop for a while, she wanted to interview one of the Sunweaver's notable DJs, one more time: Snowy AngelBun Lefavre (Skylark Lefavre). Snowy had more things to say about what she does as a DJ, and other things in Second Life.

Interview With Nikkita Sugar Lefavre (Aubrytia Resident), Club Hostess

 

Club hostesses usually don't get much attention. They assist the DJ at music events, and generally help out. Recently, Penny Shuftan (Deaflegacy Resident) interviewed Nikkita Sugar Lefavre (Aubrytia Resident). While known in the Sunbeamer area as one of the hostesses of the Happy Vixen, she hosts at a few other places. So was there any trick to being a good hostess? Nikki had a few things to say.
