The Relay Weekend: Part Two

Sunday June 11 was day two of the Relay Weekend. In the wee hours of the morning, there were fewer people walking the track, but there were still plenty.

And of all shapes and sizes.

9AM was the "Floating to The Finish Line" lap, with rubber duckies.

Some people flew rather than floated.

At 10 AM were the Closing Ceremonies, which Cynthia Farshore of the Sunbeamers attended in the team balloon.

The Comittee had a few words to the crowd at the stage, and to those listening from elsewhere (video).

Which included the empty chair ceremony, to remember those who did not survive their fight against cancer.

Then came the Victory Lap, in which teams and individuals would make one more lap.

On American Cancer Society 3, there was the "Don't Wanna Go Home Party," that went on for some hours.

It was quite a Relay Weekend. But it's not the end of the Relay Track. Teams were asked not to pick up their builds yet, as cleanup wasn't until Thursday. So people have until Wednesday to see the camps. As for the Relay season, while most teams stop their fundraising events, the season won't end until July with the "Relay Wrap-Up" party.
