What Happened to Aero Pines?

In the past, the Newser did a number of stories on Aero Pines Park. This park area had a number of activities, most noted for it's nature trails and horseback riding. But it also had yearly parties and festivals, in addition to it's 9/11 firemen tribute. But earlier this year, the park closed down. Recently, I had a chat with it's former owner Cindy Bolero, and she explained what happened.

"Student Virtual World Science Projects in Sine Space”

Saturday, June 9th at 10AM - 11AM PDT

Members here at Science Circle regularly attend our meetings for online discussions and collaboration. On June 9, I will discuss my attempts to get my students to collaborate and work together online. Sine space seems to provide the online networking in a safe networked environment we need. One of my students has created a space colony for Europa, and another has created a geological simulation called Eagle Rock, based on an actual area in Virginia. The creator of the sims can control who has access to the sim and can even delete it if so desired.

An optional field trip will be given at the end of the lecture. Details on how to log in will be giving at the end of the lecture. These sims can be accessed with a web browser and a guest account. Although the sine space client for pc and an account is recommended at https://sine.space.

"Mixed Reality" Music Concert At Areo Pines Park

 On Monday January 15, Aero Pines Park was the scene of a "Mixed Reality" event. A live music performance was being broadcasted both in Second Life and the SinceSpace virtual world. The event took place at 6PM SL time. Besides dancing, some people were skating nearby.

Cindy Bolero, the owner of the park, was there. She told me the last time she had this kind of event, they had the singer's avatar in both virtual worlds.

Besides events like these, Aero Pines Park is the scene of various other activities, including horseback riding. They've also had a Superbowl party every winter.
