RFL Sunbeamer Moon Dances Begin

Thursday February 20 marked the day for the first event of the Relay for Life season for Team Sunbeamers, the first Moon Dance which takes place every week until the Relay Weekend.

Team Sunbeamers Moon Dances has started tonight.

A benefit for the American Cancer Society! We are pleased to announce that flights to Sunbeamer Base on the moon will resume tonight Feb. 20, 2025. Dances will be again at the usual times of 6 PM to 8PM SLT. Operations will continue every Thursday until June 5, 2025 You arrive at Sunweaver Space and grab a seat in the Columbiad Moon Cannon to be shot to the moon. There once you land on the lunar surface you ask for a kiosk in your team's name if you don’t see one already. It will be planted and dance a celebration of your moon landing with other teams. Tunes provided by a Live DJ who is not taking tips! Wants you to tip the kiosk instead.  Come rep your team and if your not on a team then just pick a team and help them. The Moon Dances have become something of a Sunbeamer tradition. Taking place in Sunweaver Space every week during Relay season, Thursdays from 6 to 8 PM. Normally DJ Cynthia plays the music. It is a multi-team event, sometimes called BYOK - Bring your own kiosk. Actually, it's more "request your own kiosk," as one of the team will rezz one on request for someone representing another Relay team. The kiosk in question remains up as long as at least one of the team is present.

And quite a number showed up. Several were Sunbeamers. There were also a number from "Roos With A Dream," another fun-loving team the 'beamers often team up with in events. A number of other teams had at least one member, Icer of Team Dragon Heart making a big impression. There were also some from new teams present.

And there were the jokes. When Team ACTS was mentioned, it was brought up how their fundraising would zip by other teams, and Cynthia started playing the "Road Runner" song. One of the 'Roos then switched to a Wile E. Coyote avie.

Then there was Shockwave in his astronaut outfit. There was the girl who rezzed some balloons and floated when "My Beautiful Balloon" was played. There was when someone did a waffle rezzer and filled the air with more waffles than a Raglan Shire anniversary. And more that there's not enough time to mention.

At the end came the closing song, "I Run For Life," and fireworks lit the sky, with the Relayers praising one another. It was a great conclusion to the first Moon Dance of the 2025 season.
