Premium and Premium Plus Stipends Delayed

One of the perks about Premium and Premium plus is the monthly stipends, or allowance, of Lindens from the Lab. But according to the Grid Status Report, there's been a slight delay.

Investigating - We are aware of an issue where weekly stipend payments to Premium and Premium Plus members may have been delayed. We are currently investigating the issue. Please keep an eye on this blog for any updates.

Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

"Unscheduled Maintenance" Strikes Wednesday Afternoon, Night

If you had some trouble Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night inworld, from appearing as a cloud to inventory issues. You weren't alone. I saw in several groups inworld saying that they had problems rezzing, finding items in their inventory, seeing others, logging in and staying logged in, and other troubles.  In the Sunweavers community group, it's leader Rita Mariner would post about it, "Technical Issues With SL Tonight."

Seems LL broke SL.  No one can rezz anything.  I have a club of invisible people.  If the issue isn't cleared by start of dance, I will cancel it.

And as it turned out, Linden Lab was doing Unscheduled Maintenance at the time.

We are currently conducting an unscheduled maintenance & investigating an issue impacting logins. You may experience issues logging in or with rezzing items from your inventory during this time. Please monitor this blog for updates.

At 6:32 PM SL time, Linden Lab declared the issue resolved. But that wasn't the end of the troubles. Up to late morning the following day, people would continue to have issues with rezzing and seeing others. Various residents had things to say about it, including Rose Redfoxx (Rose Evans), who sent the Newser one memefied picture (left).

"Scheduled Agent Appearance Service Maintenance" Today

If you have trouble seeing other avatars rezz the right way, or they appear slowly, it may not be you. In the Grid Status Report, the Lab stated they will be performing maintenance today on "Agent Appearance Service."

We will be performing Scheduled Maintenance on our Agent Appearance Service on Thursday, April 28th, starting at 9:00 AM PDT. While this maintenance is in progress, avatars may fail to rez correctly and there could be other issues relating to avatar appearance. Please monitor this blog for updates.

How long it will take was not estimated.

New Links: Destination Guide, Grid Status Report

We at the Newser should have done this earlier, but better late than never. We're putting a couple useful Second Life pages among our links.

One is the Second Life Destination Guide, which offers a very brief description on dozens of sims.

https://secondlife.com/destinations?lang=en-US

The other is the Grid Status Report, which shows any bugs and glitches (and lately there's been a lot).

We're sure you will find both useful.

"Thanksgiving Bakefail" - Grid Gliches Inspire Linden Humor

Despite that all the sims have been moved to the Amazon Cloud Servers, there's been no shortage of glitches on the grid. From longer avatar load times, to delayed teleports, to the map not showing landscapes at times, and more. There's been some minor grumblings from some residents (including a rumor or two). As for the Lindens and Moles, they've gone about fixing things the best they can. But it looks like the irritation of the residents hasn't gone unheard as there's been a display of some self-depreciating humor. On Thursday November 26, their Grid Status Report announced they were dealing with a problem causing people to stay clouded.

Our engineers are currently investigating an issue where some Residents may be unable to change outfits, always appearing as a cloud regardless of the outfit they put on. We have identified a potential cause of the problem and are working on reproducing and fixing the issue.

The title of the report was "Thanksgiving Bake Fail."

It wasn't until December 2 that Linden Lab announced they were well on their way to solving the issue. Other issues are still continuing to happen. But there hasn't been an opportunity for the Lab to show it's humor since, at least not on the Grid Status Report.
