Cartoon of The Day: Possessed Game Board

Skipee is a Second Life game similar to Uno, though a bit different. In this match, the three piles of cards all turned up with a six on top at one point. For those who don't know, 666 is supposed to be the Devil's number. It would seem the devil is in the details.

Reader Submitted: Five Way Tie At Cutlass

DeniseUnicorn Toonie sent us this picture of the women's board at Club Cutlass, "Thought you should know... 5 way tie at Cutlass for the girls."

The Male board had the usual single winner. It's been a few years since there was last a five way tie on the women's board

Gift Grab Week Ten

Week Ten of the SL15B "Gift Grab" is almost done. For those with the "Swaginator HUD" from the SL15B, there's one day left to get the prize if you haven't gotten it yet. This week's hint is, "Come have a drink at this futuristic bar. This is where the gift will not be too far." The location is the Horizon's Community H-Bar in Horizons Themis (121/194/24).

Unpacking the item, you get a crystal hoverboard. This is a small vehicle that you can control with the arrow keys or viewer movement controls, and can skim over water. Pressing "jump" will boost the board in the air. Doing so a number of times will make it take flight. And yes, it glows in the dark.

Tomorrow is Week Eleven, and after that just four more until the fifteenth and last item.

Reader Submitted: "My Most Functionless Decoration Ever"

Submitted by Melody Highnote. She had been working on a Monopoly board, but made it a British version, substituting the names of New York City streets for London ones, such as Whitechapel. Contrary to her opinion, if someone could make moving pieces, working dice, added play money, and found a way to make the cards work, the game would be fun.

"Cheesy" Tournament at the Happy Vixen: More Pictures

Well, sometimes when you think you've lost something, you've found it again. When I was looking for pictures of last weekend's "Cheesy" tournament at the Happy Vixen, I found fewer than I thought I took, and many of those I did couldn't be used. As it turned out, I had relogged, and saved the pictures with a slight misspelling in the name. So here are a few more images of the event.

The goal was to win two matches. But several players won one before someone finally came out on top.

And here's ScentualLust, the winner. While "au naturel,"she always keeps her fur brushed over certain parts of the body that would make a picture unusable in this publication. She gave her prize to a friend in Derpyland.

"Cheesy" Tournament at the Happy Vixen

Saturday April 2 was the day of the Parcheesi, or "Cheesy" as some American players in Second Life call it, tournament at the Happy Vixen. Organized by Nydia Tungsten for the "Furry Gamers" group, the prize was a free game of "Contagion," a zombie first-person shooter game, on Steam.

As the Happy Vixen is on a nude beach, there were a few players whom were "au-naturel," so the best pictures yours truly took couldn't be used here. Jasmine Dawn, L'sai Aeon, and Valkyre were among those who won a match. The winner was ScentualLust of Luskwood.

Philip Rosedale (Philip Linden) No Longer on Linden Lab's Board

Hamlet Au of New World Notes reported yesterday that Philip Rosedale, Second Life's founder and also known here as Philip Linden, confirmed that he was no longer on Linden Lab's board of directors.

"I left the board around the start of the year [as] I was starting High Fidelity, but on great terms -- both Mitch [Kapor] and Linden are both investors in High Fidelity, and I'm still a big shareholder in Linden."

No longer on the board, Rosedale "no longer has any more input on company management decisions, overall direction, or policy formation." Hamlet saw this as a milestone in the history of Second Life as it means for the first time, "no Linden board member has direct day to day experience with Second Life as a product or personal memory of it's development of its hardcore user base." Most of it's current board comes from the gaming industry, which "suggests a very different direction for the company" than it's founder. "Veterans of the traditional game industry tend to take a very aggressive view on intellectual property," Hamlet noted, suggesting that might in part explain the recent Terms of Service controversy.

While he still has shares in Linden Lab, this news means the last "old hand" has truly left. How this affects the residents remains to be seen.
