Jaycatt and Frogg at Key West

Last week, I dropped by a performance in Key West by Jaycatt and Frogg. After over a decade, the musical duo who make numerous live performances in Second Life are still going at it, Frogg on his guitar, and Jaycatt behind the piano.

The one big change is that it looks like Frogg has put aside the old amphibian avatar he used to have. Jaycatt is still feline, though. Besides Key West, they perform at other places, such as Luskwood.

The Wearers

A few years ago, Gemma Cleanslate wrote about "The Wearers." Kikas Barbenco and Marmaduke Arado, partners in a romantic sense, were also a performing duo on stage. They had gotten their name from wearing most of the props used in their acts. Today, they're still performing, though their act is a bit different. Gemma went back to take a look at the stage artists.

"Frogg Marlowe and Jaycatt Nico, performing musicians in the virtual world of Second Life, are two of the subjects in the dissertation study of Deborah "Debe" Wise of the University of Colorado Denver. Wise's study is entitled Life as Art: The Interplay of Real and Crafted Identities Among Virtually Performing Musicians in Second Life. The study uses her experience as Flameheart Sol, founder of the House of Flames live music venue in Second Life, to observe normal psychosocial development and subject-object orientation among musicians in the interdependence of real and virtual identities."
