Cartoon of The Day: Trek Dating

Taken at the Snail Races' "Star Trek" event. In the Original Series, nurse Chapel had something of a crush on Spock. She never up and asked him out, and he never up and told her anything. But it's easy to imagine the conversation like this.

Cartoon of The Day: Alien Attack, or Not

Taken at the Moon Dance. It looks like this redshirt is running from attacking aliens. But it seems their assault was more a case of bad driving.

Cartoon of The Day: Shooting First

Taken at Club Cutlass's sci-fi party. In the original series of Star Trek, lower-ranked men and women in Security, noted for their red shirts, ended up getting killed a number of times to the point it became a trope. Thinking about it, their weapons were smaller than those in a certain other science-fiction tale. Looks like this one 'shirt isn't taking chances on her next away-team mission.

Cartoon of The Day: Run-Over Redshirt

Taken at the Sunbeamer Moon Dance. It seems rumors of being a "redshirt" in the Federation meaning having a short life expectancy ... have reasons to be believed.

Cartoon of the Day: Redshirt Retreat

Taken at the Happy Vixen. I never did hear why this guy was in a redshirt uniform. But given what happened to so many in Star Trek's original series, I could think of reasons why he had his communicator out.

Cartoon of the Day: Sci-fi Smashup

Taken at the Fantasy Faire on Star Wars Day. Why someone would appear with both a lightsaber from Star Wars and a "redshirt" Star Trek uniform, I never heard. But the imagination does come up with reasons.

Cartoon of the Day

Taken at the Happy Vixen. Stormtroopers have gotten a reputation for bad shots as the heroes they pursue have a way of escaping. The leading theory is some of the clones from the Clone Wars have deteriorated with age. On the other hand, the "redshirts" on Federation ships have a way of dying a lot in space. Just how are they able to keep finding men to fill the ranks has been less easily explained.

Cartoon of the Day

Taken at the Giant Snail Race at Raglan Shire. Although redshirts didn't have such a high death rate in later series, the joke from the original Star Trek series persisted. So one would think survival in itself was the real trophy.

Cartoon of the Day

Taken at The Vinyl. Looks like this Star Trek redshirt is having a bad day. Though considering how many expire on away team missions, maybe not as bad as it could have been.

Star Trek Themed Panties at Brandi's Intimates

Brandi's Intimates, also known to her fans as "Brandi's Panties," is offering a selection of ladies undergarments with a "Star Trek" theme. They come in three colors: yellow for engineering, blue for science and medical, and red for security (or walking targets). The red undies have optional phaser burn holes in the back, which brings to mind jokes about lady redshirts getting it in the end.
